Did the change in age of consent for m/m sex ever go through? I recall a great deal of news coverage several years ago, when there was a movement in the UK to bring it down to 16, in line with m/f sex, but I'm pretty sure that particular attempt derailed in the house of lords. I no longer read news.bbc.co.uk daily, so I might have missed a more recent one.

At any rate, yay story! I like the point where Remus loses (and regains) his temper, and how that finally pulls Harry out of being so self-absorbed.

I decided to check it out for at the time, I assumed the age of consent for all types of sex was 16. Anyway thanks to Wikipedia, I have the answer:

In the 1980s and 1990s, attempts were made by gay rights organizations to equalize the age of consent for heterosexuals and homosexuals, as the age of consent for homosexuals was set at 21, while the age of consent for heterosexuals was 16...However, the July 1, 1997 decision in the case Sutherland v. United Kingdom resulted in the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000 which further reduced it to 16... Today, the universal age of consent is 16 in England, Scotland, and Wales.

So yeah at the time I wrote this fic (2006), the sex between them was legal.

Im glad you liked the fic. It was the first time I ever did a Remus-orientated fic that didnt involve Remus/Sirius (even my Remus/Fenrir fic had references to Remus/Sirius) :-)

	Wow -- I must have been following that longer ago than I thought! Glad that happened; splits of that sort don't make any sense to me. I tend to assume Remus/Sirius as backstory in a lot of my stories too. (Reply to this) (Parent)
