Or something like that, anyway. What I mean is...

Christmas Fic Time!

Comment with three or more prompts and I will endeavour to write at least one of them for you.

You can ask for anything you like. :) I just may not be happy enough with the result of all of them to show them to you.

So, comment away! Yes, all of you. GO GO GO.

Probably shouldn't be so happy to have played around with planning software for the last two days, but I'm still on target for the next project - or as on-target as I can be with no information - and I think we'll be okay for GA on Tuesday, which is good.

Left later than I meant to this evening, and then stayed in town with Darrin for an extra hour, since I'm pretty sure I made him miss his bus. >_>; Picked up Gina's birthday presents in the process, just in the nick of time, and also found the novelisation of AC2. Yes, you read that right. I had to get it. It was just too cracktastic not to buy. XD I picked up the latest Bleach volume, too, so... man, why do I go shopping on paycheck day? I couldn't have done worse if we'd gone to Archives at lunch. -_-

Mum is off to Tasmania for a week on Sunday, and I'm off to Dad's tomorrow afternoon, so it will be a day of cleaning and packing and running... and probably of installing F12 in a virtual box, since Marco was handing around CDs this afternoon. I REFUSE TO LIKE IT but I'll feel bad using it as a coaster without so much as giving it a fighting chance. Also, I wouldn't mind doing a little bit of work on the Seam 2.0.2 documentation this weekend, since it came in late and the Seam docs are uuuuuuuuugly, to quote the hyenas.

Mmmm. ^^ I'm looking forward to the weekend, though. And the week after that. I'm... looking forward to things. And comfortable. And this is rare enough that I enjoy it all the more.

So, my hours have been cut. Good news is, I can still technically afford to pay my bills, I just won't have much if anything left over.

However, after this week is over I will probably not have a way to and from work. If my hours hadn't been cut I could afford to take a taxi, but now I can't.

Also I think some of the pipes may have busted.

My mother added a handful of blueberries to my cereal this morning, perfectly innocently, as I have blueberries all the time. ... WITH VITABRITS.

Thus through the house there did echo:
"What are you DOING?! What are you-- BLUEBERRIES DO NOT GO WITH NUTRIGRAIN."
"Blueberries go with everything!"
"RUINNNSES ITTTTT."

And this is why you shouldn't add things to my food before I have consumed tea: impromptu Gollum impressions.

District 9 was amazing. Amazing. I fear I think it should be viewed by everyone, everywhere, as soon as possible. I felt ill for a lot of it. But it was amazing. Really well-crafted, and perfectly book-ended by the 'news coverage'. It starts you off with a documentary, isn't-this-fascinating feel, then drops you right into the middle of the horror, from a number of angles, and then pulls back at the end and bookends it again, like this is how easily you'll forget. And because it made that point, you won't.

It was amazing. Go watch it.

http://comments.deviantart.com/1/122659098/1282816984 <-- TINA I HAD TO ACTUALLY CHECK THAT THIS WAS NOT FROM YOU. Oh internets. You are so entitled. And yet I am still more inclined to listen to this person than to any of the people demanding that I finish F&F. I WONDER WHY THAT IS.

So I guess I'm painting while I watch District 9, then.

I'm oddly contented this evening. I'm okay with not finishing NaNo. I'm really looking forward to getting back to work on AtM and F&F. My clockwork earrings continue to be awesome. I'm... just really satisfied and enthusiastic. I wasn't expecting to be at all. ^___^ Yay for Mondays that improve as they go.

(Not that this morning was bad, either. XD Forgotten fire alarms ftw?)

Okay. It is officially impossible for me to finish NaNo this year unless I start writing at work, and that's okay. I want to concentrate on writing all year 'round, not just during NaNo, and I need to learn to make that a priority. Therefore it is okay that I do not finish NaNo this year, when I have so much else going on.

I may need you all to remind me of this over the next week when the inevitable I suck, I can't even finish NaNo, I'm too lazy to be a writer depression sets in. I predict onset about noon tomorrow, but hey, it could be noon today because I know I'm not even going to try. Surprise! Only, y'know, not really.

I appear to be losing weight. I don't know what's going on. I assume it's just the more or less regular sleep. I am okay with this. I should start walking home of an evening, too, and kick it up a notch with small, regular snacks so my metabolism picks up a little.

I won't, but I should.

Friday night with Rage = I feel like I've had a full weekend already. ♥ We went out to James' golf club last night for dinner while he had a meeting, and came home and watched movies... which pretty much carried over into late afternoon today, actually, because it was way too hot to do anything else. XD Met her new kitten, who is very much a young lady cat at this point, and all soft and lanky. Imriel still loves me. (He knows who skritches best.) And solved a few of the cryptography puzzles in her copy of the XKCD book, although I didn't get all of the dancing men out before I left, which makes me sad. "Started with four letters _ut ..." blah blah. I'll get the rest eventually. I know I've combined 'f' with something else, though, because otherwise the last word makes no sense. Damn eyesight failing me deep in the night...

Had a dream that... I think started out as a zombie dream, and became a sort of spy road trip (I blame Die Hard 4.0), and then became an Elbow concert. I think I was with Tree and Rage during the road trip, but I remember some people from work around the fringes of the concert, too. No idea. XD Great car chases, though.

And now I must endeavour to do all the cleaning and washing while also writing 18455 words before 2pm tomorrow. HAH.

As in 'work to do' not as in 'has left the building'.

There's still plenty more to do, of course, but I am waiting on people. So if they haven't gotten back to me in the morning, I'm totally taking the day off and taking back some of the hours I'm owed. This evening, that is meant to mean V, District 9, and NaNo, but... I'm tipping Assassin's Creed II will win out over the latter.

Also, as of today, I'm on unpaid DW time. :( Will probably renew that later this evening, but awww. I could have sworn that email said I had two months left, and was not two months ago. :(

6am start and 8pm finish on a night where I probably only got like five hours' sleep? You know where my coherence is at right now. Every Tuesday is an endurance run and I don't know why that is. On the bright side, zips are off for another build, so... I'm writing some release notes tomorrow, and reconfigurating reconfiguring some books for the translators, and then... going the hell home. Or maybe getting the damn book we spent all day on today to build again. The guys all pulled together magnificently for me, and now we're being thwarted by tables that should be variablelists. AUGH.

Or, as I just said to Tina, copying EAP docs to the ECS repo so we can start cutting them down for EWP as soon as... that guy... gets back to me with a component list. Yeah. But we have to wait on other stuff first, so... yeah. Stuff.

NaNo is maybe not such a great idea at this point. |D; Goodnight, interwebs.

So I just realised I have maybe two nights to myself over the next week. o.0 I know it's that time of year, but really? Really? Gah!

Work today was much better than it has been for a while, due mostly to my mood improvement. Sudden week-long crashes are really not awesome, I am just saying. It's not really gone yet, and this is... nine days and counting, I think... but it's certainly much less severe this week. That is excellent all by itself.

Watching Merlin, and then trying to get some writing in before bed. Two hour meeting that starts at 6am tomorrow. Then weekly meeting at ten. Then meeting about cleaning the middleware docs the fuck up... |D; It's going to be a long, unproductive day, I fear. I can't concentrate enough to do anything useful if I can't get up any momentum.

For the record, that final scene of Merlin 209? Just made up for an ENTIRE SEASON of fucking up everything to do with Merlin and Arthur's friendship.

Now that I've actually seen the new Star Trek movie, I feel comfortable recommending jemisardjemisard's Spock/McCoy trilogy (rated PG.)

It begins with Before You're Old, in which TOS!Spock seeks out STXI!McCoy in an attempt to set right an old regret. The prequel Time Enough shows us the last days of TOS!McCoy's life, which he's chosen to spend with Spock (character death, obviously.) The last part of the trilogy is the sequel Bloom of Youth which takes place almost immediately after the events of Before You're Old. STXI!McCoy discusses with STXI!Spock the conversation just concluded with his counterpart and what impact it has to their comradeship.

This trilogy is one I'd consider a must-read for Spock/McCoy shippers, and would reccomend to non-shippers for the same reasons; jemisardjemisard's strong grasp of characterization makes the interaction between all characters a delight to read. She maintains the classic interaction between TOS Spock and McCoy, the more antagonistic and shaky version of the same with their XI counter-parts, and in doing so subtly illustrates both the similarties and differences between the four characters. Her plot is also a joy, fitting easily into the cracks between series and movie in such a way that I could easily see this happening.

Ok, dry pseudo-professional tone aside; you should totally read this. I read the trilogy when jemisardjemisard first posted it, and made the choice to see the new Star Trek movie because of how well she'd written in that 'verse. This fic convinced me to spend actual money guys, I am a skinflint this is a big deal!

Epic zombie apocalypse dream for the win. It went on forever. I was myself for a while, and then I swapped between a dude, and his brother who'd been turned into a zombie. It was a heart-warming tale of little brother smacking big brother around until big brother didn't eat things like the dog or little brother. So essentially, pet zombie in the safehouse. And then we had to steal cars (which were like... goo capsules?) to get something with which to travel down a hidden tunnel that little brother had restored. But to steal the cars we had to enter a race. Which was something like pod racing. And. Fwahhh, what have I been eating, can I have more?

Also: Ponyo to the tune of 'I'm on a Boat' may be the greatest thing ever.

And now I am going to try to get some writing done and not to play video games. And then probably to start on a few release notes just in case I have more to do tomorrow than I thought.

1) Tickets to New Moon. (No, I'm kidding, it was actually kind of okay. Except that NO ONE HAS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS. Actually, I take that back: Edward has more facial expressions than everyone else. I CANNOT HELP BUT FEEL THAT THIS SAYS SOMETHING.)

2) Cute Underwear. (But who feels guilty for that? It is so cute.)

3) Assassin's Creed II and Dragon Age: Origins. (.... I got nothin'.)

It was great to wander around with Neek again, although far too bloody hot for it. XD Damn summer!

Currently trying to convince myself that I should NaNo instead of playing video games. Since I have, y'know, this week to catch up. >_> And I'm still not halfway. Sigh.
