WHO: Otto Chriek, OT residents of the Mansion on the Hill
WHEN: Midnight.
WHERE: the Mansion on the Hill.
WHAT: A flaming pumpkin interrupts everyone's night.
STATUS In progress.
Despite what Otto had said in several journal posts over the past couple of days, Otto's favorite sleeping arrangement was not in fact, in a coffin. He was a rather young vampire and thankfully, he had never had the 'privilege' of being buried before.
Most vampires he knew were nocturnal but he was rather more human these days and as an iconographer for the city's only newspaper, he was inclined to sleep whenever he could. He hung upside-down from the rafters in the attic, with the window open and the moonlight shining in on him. The air in Halloweentown was a major upgrade from that of Ankh-Morpork and it reminded him very much of the Old Country.
Whoever threw the flaming pumpkin had great aim and a good arm. The pumpkin made a subtle "fssssssssh" sound as it sailed through the air and Otto snapped awake.
"Mein Gott!" he exclaimed and backed away from the flames. Vampires hated fire. The attic was full of junk covered in tarp and without hesitating, he threw the nearest piece of tarp over the fire.
He waited for several moments before easing closer and looking under the tarp. His excellent night vision made it easy to read the note. The words were puzzling but what truly alarmed him was the sudden bright green flash of light. The world went black and a pile of ash was what was left of Otto Chriek in the attic. A card was sticking out the pile, saying "Help, I have crumbled and I can't get up. Please sweep me into a heap and crush a vial of blood over me. I am a Black Ribboner and will not harm you."
