Week 21- Wednesday
Who: Sydni and Simon
What: Home Cooking
Where: House of Fire kitchens
When: After classes, around suppertime

Simon had been waiting for Sydni after the last class of the day. He knew it was her last class because he was stalking her. Actually, no, that wasn't the case at all. But she was his only real friend (girlfriend excluded) and he did have an idea as to what she was up to a lot of the time. Besides that, they shared a number of classes.

His backpack was heavy and his stomach was empty. Could Sydni cook? He couldn't remember if she said she could or not. Maybe, since she was a college grad, she could do that kind of cooking that used the microwave oven and maybe a toaster. Either way, food was food and Simon was hungry.

"You!" he said, catching her as she stepped out of the classroom. He grinned when he turned to her. "You have to tell me what you and Cissy talked about. I asked her, but she just giggled all secretively and kissed me on the nose." He followed Sydni down the hall, weaving hs way through the crowds. As they headed back to the common room, Simon waited until the noise of a crowded hallway died down before pestering her again. "Was she nice to you?" he asked. "Were you nice to her? What did you guys even have to talk about?" His eyes got wide. "Oh, no, you didn't talk about me the whole time, did you?"

At Simon's sudden appearance, Sydni did indeed turn around. "Hi," she said almost questioningly. She was just surprised to see him waiting for her. Smiling when his motives were revealed, she made her way down to the House of Fire Common Room. "We had a very good conversation. She's really smitten with you. And I told her how smitten you were, too," she grinned, sure that would earn a blush.

Chuckling, she shook her head, "No, we didn't but you were the main topic of conversation. I like her. And I think you're really good for her, too."

Indeed, Sydni's chiding earned her a brilliant shade of crimson. "I dunno if I'd say 'smitten'," he said, a bit defensively. "I mean I like her, but I'm not... y'know... obsessed or anything." He failed to mention to Sydni, however, he thought about her all the time, and it distracted him from schoolwork and homework and pretty much everything else. But to be fair, teenage crushes pretty much are obsessions.

"You like her," he said, relieved. "I'm so glad. I know she's not really your type, but since you're my first friend I really wanted you two to get along." He grinned, in that rogueish way that indicated he was about to be smarmy. "So I could lure you two in bed together," he added. "Because, y'know, that's been my master plot all along."

It suddenly occured to Simon that he was ravenously hungry. I wonder if this is how Sydni feels before the full moon, he wondered to himself as his tummy made its presence known with a fierce growl. "Sydni, my love, I'm ready to eat my own arm here. What're you cooking up for us?"

Sydni smiled at his blushing, more used to seeing that color on herself. Chuckling, she nodded. "You seem reasonably level-headed, so I'm not too concerned about you being obsessed." He was a teenager, and she was sure there was a bit of an obsession, but he seemed not to be any more obsessed than any other teenage boy.

"Yes, we did get along," she smiled. She didn't think they'd become bosom buddies, but she did have a good conversation with the other woman. At his smarmy comment, Syd could only look utterly shocked. She had no idea how to react.

"Uh..." Since when was she cooking? She had every intention of grabbing something to eat at the caf. After looking more than a little confused, she decided that, sure, she could cook something. "Uh, what do you want?"

Sydni always seemed to be shocked when Simon made crude remarks, and every time he had to laugh. She couldn't possibly think he was serious, could she? And eventually she would just get used to them. Still, maybe his newfound freedom was making him a bit too relaxed with his manners. His mother wouldn've been devastated.

"I'm kidding," he clarified to her. "I have no intentions of seducing you, with or without a third party." He smiled a little, indicating his sincerity. "Besides, I have a hard enough time keeping one older woman satisfied. However would I handle two?"

When it became concrete that Sydni was gonna do some cookin', Simon started rummaging through cabinets to see what was available. "Mac and cheese is a favorite... I'll eat pretty much anything with bacon. Or gravy," he added. Mm, gravy. "Pretty much think of the most unhealthy item you could possibly make, and that's what I want."

Well, it was more like she just didn't know how to respond to someone who was nearly half her age saying such things. Ok, maybe not half her age, but definitely young enough to be totally inappropriate. If he had been less... young she still would have been embarrassed, but she could have giggled nervous. As it was, she could only blush and look shocked.

Still looking a bit awkward about the seduction talk, she did finally laugh at his final question. Shaking her head, she followed him as he rummaged through some cabinets. "We could do mac & cheese with bacon," she suggested. "It won't be great cuz it's just boxed mac & cheese..." the brunette continued as she reached for the box in the cupboard. "But, it's still food."

Smiling, she waited for his accordance before beginning. Although, now her stomach was reminding her of the ravenous nature of the wolf inside her. He better decide quickly!

Simon's eyes lit up as Sydni pulled the infamous blue box out of the cupboard. "That's the best idea I've heard all day!" he declared. "I could never get away with eating something like that back home. College life must be fantastic." Like most teens with aspirations of college, Simon had quite a deluded image of what college life was really like. He imagined partties, coeds walking to their with towels wrapped around their heads, all-nighters in the library with the rest of the class with a paper due the next morning by 8. Of course, Simon would have realized (had he been going to college next fall as planned) that by nature he was too shy to partake in college parties or say hello to the half-naked coeds gracing the hallways. But a boy can always dream.

"My mom used to make the greatest mac and cheese," he told Sydni as he crouched down to retrieve a skillet from the bottom cupboard. "Well I mean, I'm sure she still does. Not that they'll be letting her cook in... the hospital." Sydni knew what he meant, but it was still a little too raw a wound to say "looney bin" and not die a little. "She used to sprinkle it with breadcrumbs," he continued, deciding to just paint over that wound and move on. "So it got all crunchy and toasted. I never understood why she'd make it from scratch when the box was good too. And easier." He gently placed the skillet onto the stove. "I think I get it now, though. She did it because she cared about me, and wanted it to be special." He smiled fondly.

"What about you?" he said abruptly. "I don't think you've told me anything about your family. Where do you come from, what kind of life did you live before here?" He grinned, a mischevious sparkle in his eyes. "Tell me about college life."
