Week 19: Tuesday
Who: Titania & Sydni
Where: House of Fire's commons room
When: After classes
What: Introductions and possibly homework help!

Titania felt bad that she didn't go to her last class of the day. She kept thinking that her teacher probably hated her by now, and never wanted to speak to her again. Being as social as she was, that was going to hurt her pride - like nothing else did around this school. She was just someone who held it in and kept it locked inside.

And as she sat there - well, laying there now - trying to get this science assignment finished, something around the room kept trying to distract her. The CD player next to her wasn't helping much, even though she kept changing the track or CD every second. Yeah, she wasn't up-to-date with the whole ipods. A cellphone is still new to her. So is the computer! Maybe she should have done her English assignments on there, but writing them out in her notebook was helping her - with her wrist dying every so often.

You know, thinking about it, someone could easily sneak up on her and she'd be scared shitless. Slowly, she turned her head around toward the entrance to the common room, arching a perfectly drawn on eyebrow, but seeing no one there or walking by it. She was being panicky. But why? Shaking her head and basically laughing out loud at herself, Titania went back to working on her homework. Staring at it more like it.

But she finally moved a few seconds later to change the CD. That was when she saw something in the corner of her eye, causing everything to bounce out of her lap because she jumped probably a foot off the couch, almost having her whole body slam against the floor. Luckily the table was there to break her fall, both hands clenching onto the side while she stared at the stranger with wide eyes.

It was a girl once she was able to calm her heart and learn how to breathe again. "Oh, god. Wow. Hello. I didn't know you were there.. I'm so sorry!" Let's see how long it takes for Titania to say her sorry before someone kindly tells her to shut up.

The prospect of Charlie and Shaye leaving was beginning to wear on Sydni. She was distracted in classes and she kept leaving her room to find some place better for her to concentrate. There didn't seem to be one, but she kept trying. Of course, she didn't seem openly restless; just her usual quiet self.

It was the restlessness that had driven her to the House of Fire Common Room. More accustomed to being the one startled, Sydni jumped as well. "Oh, no, don't apologize. It's fine." Taking a seat nearby, the brunette settled in for some work. Except that the view outside the window caught her eye, and soon she was looking out of it, rather pensively. It would do her good for someone to distract her.

The blue haired girl gave the brightest smile anyone could ever see. And before she even started to search for all her things, she watched the other with a curious sense all around her. Titania has never seen anyone like her before, and since she was in the house of fire, she must room in one.

Staring was never a nice thing. "Sorry.." She said again, though this one was a bit softer than how she was before. Looking down this time, whatever was dropped was placed upon the table near her. The only thing that made her make an annoyed sound, was her CD player. It wasn't all that broken. The flap that sealed the batteries were.

"I believe you live here?" she asked finally. Pointing toward the dorm rooms while still sitting upon the floor. Don't worry, she'll get up soon. After she fixed her CD player.

Sydni would have been surprised to hear that she was somehow striking to this girl. She was used to blending in, not standing out. Occupied with her own thoughts, she only nodded slightly at the second apology. It wasn't really necessary, anyway.

Startled out of her musings, she looked over at the other girl. Her hair was awesome. "I do. You must, as well?" She assumed so, if she was in the Common Room."

Titania nodded, and smiled that bright smile of her's. God, it would take a lot to make something like that wipe away. Well.. not really. But she tries to make it seem like it would be hard.

Slowly, with CD player in hand, she plopped herself back onto the couch. Talking while she tried to fix the blasted thing, "I do! Yep. I've been trying to meet as many people as I could within the same house. But that's mostly been happening on the computer."

Ah, did she fix it? She moved one headphone off her ear and allowed the other to rest there, hitting play to hear her music.

...

Nothing started.

Frowning deeply at her CD player, Titania took the headphones off and placed it off to the side. Well, maybe when she was alone she could probably fix it. But then how would she be able to finish her science homework? Wait! "Hey, um.. What's your name?" wow, way to go, Titania! She should have asked that before. But getting scared out of your seat could be to blame.

Sydni had to smile in return. It was faint, but it was there. "Ah. To be honest, I still don't know a lot of people here." She was here to study. At least, that's all that would be in her future now.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Sydni." The brunette offered a hand. "What's yours?" She had every intention of giving the blue-haired girl her attention. It was better than thinking about her friends leaving.

"Really?" Titania perked her head up at that. There were so many people within this school. They had to have friends by the thousands. The girl usually assumed things like that because of the past she had. It didn't cross her mind that others could be like her, or worse. The worse would have her frowning the whole day.

She scooted herself toward the end of the couch to shake the other girl's hand, smiling the whole time, watching every expression she could possibly make. Which didn't really seem to be a lot. "Nice to meet you, Sydni. I'm Titania." If the german accent was obvious before, it should be now. She tried to not make it seem so strong, but it was hard half the time. If she knew someone long enough, and they saw her when she was upset, well, they wouldn't understand what she was saying. Unless they knew German.

Looking back to her homework once she moved back to it, a thought crossed her mind - at the last second but would it hurt to really ask? "Um, Sydni? Do you know any earth science?" Titania smiled a little sheepishly, holding up her paperwork, and almost hiding behind it - waiting for an out of nowhere blow up.

Sydni did not have a large circle of friends, and with several of her friends leaving at once, her circle had shrunk. There might not even be enough people to make a circle.

No, Sydni did not have a particularly expressive face. She maintained a mostly pensive expression, simply because she tried to keep her feelings hidden. When she was happy, though, she really couldn't contain it, and her smile was always genuine, and often sweet.

Surprised at the request, Sydni paused for a moment. The Universe certainly had an entertaining sense of humor. "Um... Yes, actually. I'm a scientist. Though my specialization is sharks." Tilting her head curiously, she waited for Titania to explain the assignment.

Each time Titania even glanced over at the other girl it always felt like she was throwing daggers at her with those eyes. She was slowly getting anxious and almost felt like running for her room, completely forgetting what she wanted to accomplish the first time she sat out here. But, she sucked it up and moved over toward Sydni, smiling the whole time, even as she made herself comfortable next to her.

“That’s really cool,” she replied, thinking about sharks and instantly wanting to shudder. Those animals – were they even considered animals? She really didn’t know, and because she didn’t care, it was best to not ask and look like an idiot. Though, she was probably doing it with the way she was acting. Fidgeting like her panties were giving her a wedgie; laughing nervously while she did it too.

“Well, the whole assignment is about the atmosphere. It confuses me…” Titania made a little snorting sound, while looking down at the paper, moving it slightly so Sydni could see it. The slight shake in her whole arm was there, but she was doing her best to hide it. Making friends was easy, but when she wanted help with something, she instantly thought they might yell and cause a tantrum, make themselves the center of attention. The past clung to her like black ink will forever upon a white shirt.

Sydni would have been mortified to know that Titania thought she was throwing daggers with her eyes. She might have been morose, but she didn't think she was being inhospitable.

Smiling at the compliment, Sydni nodded as a faint smile crept to her lips. "Yeah, it is."

Looking over the assignment, the brunette quickly figured out what was being asked. Taking a pencil, she found some clean space on the margins. "Ok, so this is what they want you to understand..." Drawing it out as she explained, she hoped that the explanation would help the girl. If not, she could explain it another way.

Thank the go- ... Don't say the lord's name in vain!

Her mother would be dead by now if she knew her daughter was saying so many vial things. Good thing that woman was as far away from her as possible.

But anyways ... Good thing Sydni wasn't a mind reader, Titania was going up and down like a roller coaster. Would she like her? Would they get along? Seems like they were, she was helping with the assignment. Don't people usually help, then ignore the person the next time they eyes upon them? Usually happened with Titania. Though, food was always thrown her way. Children had odd ways of saying, "get the fuck away".

Titania leaned close when the girl was explaining things. Noticing how close she was till the last second, she lightly touched Sydni's arm, straightening herself up then and giving the most apologetic smile she could muster. Was she invading the girl's personal space? ... Here came the questions again.

Really, she was paying attention - even if it looked like she was frowning, eyebrows furrowing in bewilderment, or pursing her lips in complete thought or zoning. She was very expressive with her emotions.

"Oh, oh. I think I get it!" That was a little too excited of a shout, her hand coming up to cover her mouth while she gave an embarrassed blush. Gently taking the assignment back, as well as the pen, before scribbling down what was just said. And as she wrote, a tiny hum vibrated along her blush lips. It wasn't strange for her to make some kind of noise while she concentrated on something.

Sydni might have snickered if she'd known about the whole Lord's name in vain thing. While she didn't generally make a habit about being derisive toward other religions, not many Christians even followed that particular rule.

The brunette was generally not the type of person to simply ignore someone she'd spoken with previously; she reserved that for those she didn't know at all. Well, perhaps ignore was rather a strong word. It was more like, shy away from.

Sydni hadn't noticed how close Titania had gotten, and jumped when the girl touched her. Noticing the smile, the brunette returned a faint one. She just wasn't in the mood to smile.

Jumping at the lightbulb moment, Sydni gave a much more genuine smile. She really was happy to help. "Do you need help with anything else?" she asked kindly.

Titania could sense there was something wrong with the other girl. But it really wasn't her place to jump in and ask what was wrong. Barging into others business was sin - the words her mother would normally say time and time again. Better not getting into that ugly voice. Always had her cringing and wanting a black hole to swallow her whole.

"Nope. Thank you so for this!" She exclaimed, smiling that bright smile of her's. If she really wanted to, she'd give Sydni a great big hug. The only problem was, invading personal space. Some people didn't care and others did. Would asking be a great idea? Probably not. Getting weird looks in the past was a quick way to solve that quick answer.

But now that there wasn't much to talk about... What could they say to each other? The burning question to ask what was wrong was itching throughout her whole body. Causing the blue haired girl to scratch at her pale arms whenever she could - even using the pencil to help; the eraser wasn't helping.

"So, um, how long have you been here?" Titania finally asked, looking up from her paperwork after a few seconds. She was known for striking amazing conversations, but when she had the inky feeling that someone was down ... Well, she didn't want to pester all that much.

Titania's smile was good for Sydni - she couldn't help smiling back a little. And while the brunette would rarely turn away a hug, she would have been a bit awkward; she did not know the blue-haired girl well enough to expect such contact.

Sydni could tell the girl was antsy, and she vaguely wondered if something was wrong. Really, other people's problems were the best distraction from her own problems. But, being timid herself, she rarely invaded others' privacy; she knew how much she hated it herself.

"A few months," the were answered. Her usual response concerning the full moon was lost in her current mood. She wasn't all that talkative. Of course, talking, about anything, may have made her feel better.

The frown slipped into view before Titania could stop it. It only appeared because of how few the words were coming out of the girl's lips. Was it because of her? Or was there something bothering Sydni? She'd press, but that would be rather rude.

Rude, rude, rude, she thought, almost shaking her head and squinting her eyes; mostly at herself.

"I got here around June..." Titania finally replied, though, thinking about what she said. Hence why she allowed her words to trail off like they did. Was it June? The days keep combining from so much lack of sleep. Didn't look like she missed any now - the power of make-up! Having one powerful hyperactive imagination also helped with keeping her awake.

As if already hearing Sydni's reply, the girl was nodding, before asking, "why are you here?" Was that wrong to ask? The sudden drop of oxygen disappeared. It felt like she was in outer space, and if she didn't get air soon, her head would explode.

"I was bitten," the brunette answered. Reconsidering, since there were a number of reasons why biting would land her here, she explained, "By a werewolf. I was bitten by a werewolf," she repeated softly.

Glancing over, she asked quietly, "You? Why are you here?"

Bitten!? Was she sitting right next to a vampire? A real vampire?!

Though, this wouldn't be the first vampire she encounter, but still not knowing how many inhabited the school, it was still a big shocker.

"A werewolf?" Titania asked, blinking her eyes in a little confusion. Oh, so, she was a werewolf. Whoops. Good thing she didn't start bouncing in her sit - like she wanted to - and causing a scene that wasn't needed. "Wow. I.. Never met a werewolf before." That was true. And yes, the excitement was still plain as day upon her young features.

"Me?" Her hand came up to his chest; a gesture she never was good at getting rid of. "Oh, nothing amazing. I'm nothing but human with a little firebug running through my veins," Titania replied then, smiling a little at the way she put her gift curse.

Sydni was honestly surprised at the girl's reaction. Most people here showed either indifference or dislike when it came to her race, but she had certainly not expected surprise or even excitement. Looking startled, and a bit confused, the brunette tilted her head and offered a small smile. "You probably just don't know it. All the weres live in this House."

"What do you mean?" The scientist was used to more specific classification. It would be cool if she had abilities similar to Frankie's.

Why in the world would anyone dislike werewolves? If she heard someone saying anything like that, the expression they would get would be pure shock. Disliking vampires could be seen as a race that a low frowned upon, since they liked to be monsters and kill anything that walked. Were-creatures were like animals, predators you see in the wild.

Though, Titania didn't see any creature of the supernatural to be dangerous or monstrous. Which is probably not the right way to look at things, but the girl was naive to a lot around this school. Only time would tell.

"Really? I heard they did, but I haven't met any..." Titania stopped herself, smiled, and continued with a little rephrase, "well, until I met you, of course."

The girl gave a little smile this time. How do you talk about something you hate about yourself? All because your mother made you look like the worst thing that could ever be created by god. Oh, right. Because you weren't. "You know," Titania started, looked down at her papers and gave a little shrug before speaking again. "I can create little fires with my mind. I forget what they call it, since it's a mouthful. But if I'm not careful, this piece of paper could burst into flames." Her homework was held up to demonstrate.

Sydni wouldn't have agreed with either description. Perhaps a bit on the werewolves as predators part, but then she knew as well as anyone that predators were to be respected. No matter how beautiful and awe-inspiring they were. And while vampires may have to feed on other species, Sydni didn't think they were monsters.

Smiling slightly, the brunette nodded. She also knew what it meant to talk about something she hated about herself. "Oh, pyrokinesis?" she suggested.

If Titania spoke to her mother about foolish things like vampires, werewolves, witches, or anything else that would be placed on Halloween - it would all be monsters. Thankfully her mother of a devil wasn't here. Yeah, she felt free of the woman. But there were times where she thought about her, what she was doing, and if she even thought about her daughter.

Doubt it..

"Yeah, that." Titania laughed lightly. She would feel embarrassed for not being able to pronounce what she had, but she didn't. It was funny to her, like everything was. This whole school was funny; yet extremely helpful.

"Well, I should get going. There is something else I need to finish up before class starts. I'm really thankful that you came around. I think I would still be struggling!" The blue haired girl gave the other girl the biggest smile she could muster, before moving forward and finally giving her a hug.

It was slightly amusing that she couldn't pronounce it. But Sydni would never laugh at someone for a difficulty. But Titania's laughter drew a weak smile from the brunette.

"I'm glad I could help," the were offered. The hug was completely unexpected. Sydni stiffened at first, but then awkwardly returned it. She liked her own space and wasn't used to it being invaded. But she certainly didn't mind hugs. She just was unused to them.
