Week Eighteen: Monday
Who: Evelyn and Vivian
Where: Terrene Common Room
When: Monday Evening

Normally, Lyn wasn't one given to being restless just for the sheer fact that she was inside. But, being stuck inside by a curfew? Well, that was a different matter entirely. There was something about being forbidden to do something that made you itch to want to do it. She could understand that with the full moon tonight, that maybe, it would be prudent be inside. She didn't much relish the idea of being out and about at night with the were students doing whatever it was that they did under the cover of night.

She'd thought of going to bother Aramil, but she could imagine he'd be crawling up the walls right about now. If he hadn't ignored the edict entirely and went outside regardless of what the school was telling them do it. Maybe for that reason alone she should check to make sure he wasn't doing something either stupid or ridiculous or both.

As it was, Evelyn found herself wandering down around the Common Room of their dormitory, Terrene House. She'd paced it a few times earlier, just to stretch her legs and even grab a snack. She'd taken a few different routes just for variety sake. This time, she returned with a book in hand. A change of scenery for her reading might perk her up a bit and not feel like the evening was a total waste.

However, the young half-fae found herself at one of the larger windows, her gaze trying to penetrate through the fog. She wondered for a moment what could be going on out there, where no one could or would see.

The full moon, it was annoying to most of the student body. Especially those vampires, who couldn't leave the school at all. The night, it was like Christmas every day to them, so, when you weren't allowed to really enjoy it, it tended to piss you off. She was used to it by now, and, seeing as it only happened once a month, she was able to keep her bitching to a minimal. Besides, they had the entire day off, Wednesday, and that quite made up for it. Especially now that plans had been made to enjoy the more lurid activities of the evening. Well, if the Burning Man festival wasn't complete decadence, and chaos, she and the lovely little muse could always find away to turn their evening in that direction. Shouldn't be too difficult.

With her book officially complete, she had nothing more than homework to occupy her time with, completely exciting, really. Anything that would keep her mind straight in line, and off of a certain someone. A certain someone, whom whenever they happened to enter her thoughts, made her cry. Which was idiotic, she knew, but... she felt as if she'd lost another member of her family. She shouldn't feel that way about him.

She came very close to her breaking point once more, and decided it was time to focus on something else. The photos for her novel, she'd have a look over them. There were simply too many choices, ones that she liked at that. But, the cover had to represent the entire book. The cover could make, or break the book.It had to be perfect. So, with the portfolio in hand, she made her way into the common room sniffling softly, before clutching the bound black leather to her chest. Maybe she would run over, and get J's opinion, or Wes, or-- "Oh, hello." She paused just inside the door. It was easy to pass through a crowed room, without talking to anyone. But to do so, in a room with only one other occupant, now that was just rude.

"Evelyn, right? Or do you prefer Lyn? Sun-Ari calls you Lyn." The arrogant elves more or less girlfriend. The one she had been teasing him about the last time they hung out. Which was a while back, she really ought to check in on him. "I'm Vivian. I would say a friend of Aramil, but, I'm not so sure that is true, or not."

There was something that made her look up. That sense of someone else, that tickled at her senses. Her senses weren't as keen as an elf, but the 'training' she'd gotten on being alert to her environment had their effect and she tended to notice things even when she wasn't paying complete attention.

It was a moment, but then her eyes widened a little in recognition. "Right. The one who worked at Heaven and Hell? Who makes the amazing drinks. I remember seeing you at one of the parties Aramil took me to." They didn't really get a chance to speak, but he pointed the vampire out to her.

She smiled, offering a friendly hand, "Either one. Evelyn or Lyn. Most people call me Lyn." Or her family and Ari tended to call her Lynnie. But that's a different story. "You sound like a friend to me," she grinned then. "At least according to him, you recognize his obnoxious charm and ability to wear arrogance like a cloak any elf would be proud to display."

It's nice to know someone else out there doesn't let him get away with his BS. It's one thing for her to do it, but quite another for him to hear it from an unbiased (non-human) source. "I'd heard about the club closing. I hope that doesn't affect you too badly though."

Vivian wished she could blame her delayed senses on her head being in the clouds, but the truth was, she'd reached such a comfort level within the castle, that she really didn't pay attention to who was around, while wandering. Outside, that was completely different, she was slightly paranoid outside, but on this island, could she really be blamed? No telling what sorts of things you might run into. It was something she needed to work on, being more aware, when she was within the school.

She nodded, "That's me, the famous, or infamous bartender, all depending on what you might have heard." Well, she was the best bartender in Hell, or The Pit, as it was now known. "Or right, the party at Wes' shop. That was a good time. I'm surprised Ari stuck around. I can hear him bitching about the music, and volume of it now." She said fondly, moving farther into the room, and leaning against another window seel, still facing the girl. No, they hadn't had the chance to speak, which was a shame, but she'd been a bit boy crazy that night.
Taking her hand in return, she gave it a shake. "Evelyn is a beautiful name, but I'll call you Lyn. Less formal that way." Evelyn could call her whatever she liked, so long as it wasn't the walking dead, heh. "Obnoxious charm, yes, that is Ari in a nutshell, isn't it? He is quite irritating at times, yet I can't help but like him. One of the great mysteries of life, I think. Though, if he's referring to me as a friend, I'll have to give him grief about it. Probably make a banner or two annoucning his love of the undead. He'd adore that." He was a piece of work, but she found his ignorance of the human world far too entertaining at times.

"Oh, it was only temporary, thank goodness. The new management has decided to keep most of the employees on. Not surprising, we had to show them that we could in fact mix a decent drink." Which she supposed made sense, she'd likely want to know that those people working for her, were actually capable of doing their job. "I passed the test, so I will be there, behind the bar in The Pit, catering to the chaos that will be opening night. You, and Ari ought to go, there is a new strip club in what used to be Hell... Actually, I'd pay money to see his reaction to a woman sliding down a pole upsides down, wearing nothing but a purple leather g-string."

"I've heard a lot," Lyn confirms with a grin. "But all of it good, I can tell you." She leaned back, half sitting on the window sill, her hands positioned to keep her more or less upright. "If there's one thing Ari likes, it's a good party. He said it was suppose to be something to rival those of the fae back home. It was good enough in it's own right, but definitely not the same." No one woke up the next morning with blue skin next to a lake with no clothes on and no clue how they managed to get there. At least, not that she heard.

She smiled at the compliment, "Thanks. I don't think anyone calls me Evelyn besides my teachers or my grandmother when I've done something wrong." She chuckled lightly, and tilted her head. "Welllllll...to be fair, I think he technically said something about an 'acquaintanceship' or the like, but for Aramil, that can be as good as it gets for awhile. "Actually, I did wonder about that. He has some fairly strong views sometimes when it comes to things like that." The walking dead...undead...people who were dead and aren't anymore. Sorta.

Evelyn was trying not to stare now that she could see Vivian up-close. It was hard to remember that this woman was a vampire. Even though her own guide was a vampire, it had made her nervous to say the least in the beginning. But since then she'd learned to relax. A little bit.

Her attention flowed back into the conversation and she nodded. "That's good. Ari wasn't sure if everyone had to find new jobs or not, but I'm glad to hear it wasn't so bad. Maybe I will grab him and see if he wants to make a return trip there. Though the only reason he took me last time was because I didn't want him to take me." She shrugged, "He seemed to think I couldn't handle myself there. And he was stubborn enough that he wouldn't leave me alone about it."

Though in retrospect, he could've been right. Still, that's even more frustrating when he's being Mr. Superior and he's right. "A strip club?" She seemed to think for a moment, "Hmm. Now that is a thought...." And one that she could use to her advantage.

A lot, well that could certainly be a bad thing. But, as Lyn went on to say what she had heard was good, Vivian relaxed a bit more. Normally she wouldn't care what someone might have, and might not have heard about her, but she, and Ari had shared some interesting conversations. She'd admitted things to him, that most didn't know. After all, it was nice getting the point of view from someone who had lived outside of the human world. "That's what he had said. From what I understand, you can't beat a fae party. I'd be very curious to attend one. It might be the one event that shocks me." She grinned, that would be quite a venture.

"I was always ended up hearing my entire name when I was in trouble. Which was all too often when I was younger." Those were dreaded words back in the day. Especially in the tone that always accompanied them. "That is more fitting." Vivian chuckled lightly. "We tend to meet on good terms, and part with me being pissed off at something he said. He's far too insulting at times. I'm sure you've had the urge to slap him from time to time?" Vivian nodded, "Yes, his comments about vampires are usually what piss me off. He seems to think we are a bit like zombies... I think we are a great deal more complex than that."

From her own experience, she didn't think it was unwise to be cautious of vampires. They were tricky creatures after all. Dangerous, certainly. Most weren't worth trusting, in her opinion. The same could be said for most people, creatures, whatever. It all depended on the person. "I was glad as well. I love my job. I was a bartender before being turned, so I have a bit of a passion for it." Now that she couldn't pursue her law career, bartending was all she had. "Tell him I'll buy him a trick, that might help coax him out a bit more. He's needs to lighten up, and get out of the woods more often." She smiled once more. Ari stubborn? Impossible. "I would have told him to bugger off if I were you. You showed him up, I hope?" Ari needed to be proven wrong more often.

She nodded, "I think it will increase the cash flow quite a bit." Not to mention add to the already hedonistic atmosphere the place held. She couldn't wait for the following week, she, and Jaida had to make a night of it in the place. Tossing dollar bills, and throwing back some drinks. "Knowing my luck, he wouldn't be phased by it at all. We ought to think of something that would shock him."

"Maybe," Lyn moved her head back and forth. A vampire...shocked? "It's probably nothing that would put you into a state of shock, but it just might send your senses into overload." Still, she wasn't sure what her own people would think of a vampire in their midsts. Considered unnatural, at the least, but would they be unwelcoming? Hard pressed. Hospitality is such a fundamental tenant it seems.

Evelyn grinned, "Most of the time, I don't think he knows what he sounds like. He's not deliberately insulting. Usually." That much she knows. "I actually have slapped him before," she admitted. "We were having a doozy of an argument. I would have done more if I hadn't been angrier than I can ever remember." And that was one long story. But a good lesson. Don't poke the growly and cranky teenager in love.

"Not exactly showed him up." She lifted a hand, an accusing finger shook once in Vivian's direction. "Because apparently he knew the bartender that night...rumor has it her name was Vivian...and she made a drink strong enough for a human, but designed to put even an elf on their ass." She chuckled, "Still, it was good. But within two I was so tipsy I went from wanting to kill him that night to him having to practically carry me back to the room." She found herself smiling again, "I guess maybe I owe you one."

Evelyn leaned back into position, "Actually, I did have an idea about that...do you know if the Pit would have some sort of...amateur night?"

Vampire aside, it would take a lot to shock Vivian. Though, she was still hopefully, and fearful that she would in fact find something that would do so. "Sounds like my type of party." She smiled. No, she wasn't expecting an invite anytime soon. Especially not after everything Ari had told him about his peoples views on vampires. He'd also made it very clear that they were in alliance with Lyn's people. So, it made sense that their taste would be similar. Ah well, next time Wes had a party, she would just insist her hire someone else to bartend, that way she could enjoy herself more.... and no more sneaking off with less hairy Venizelos brother either.

"You're probably right. He his male after all. I honestly don't believe their brains function on the same level as ours." Or, it could be that they were both stubborn as could be, and neither were willing to ever step down. She was going to bet it was a mix of both. "Only the once?" She questioned with a smile. "You must have the patience of a saint, seeing that you've known him for quite sometime." It was never a good idea to mess with an emotional woman, at all. Boys should learn these things.

It was then that her expression turned quite sheepish. "Well... I... was just doing my job?" She said laughing lightly, then giving her shoulders a shrug. Of course, she couldn't recall at the moment if Ari had told her at the time what drink was for who. Would she have changed it up? Eh... probably not. People needed to have fun more often! "It sounds as if Ari owes me a thanks if your mood shifted that dramatically." Well, getting people laid was another perk of the job. "Don't mention it. I'll gladly get you drunk anytime." Once more her expression shifted. This time, to one of pure mischief. "Honestly, I don't know. I can however find out." Oh, hell yeah that would be the first thing she would ask at the end of the night Friday. "If they do, you have to tell me what night, that way I can be there to see his reaction."

"Then we'll see," Lyn promised. She was finding that she enjoyed the company of this vampire. Really, she wasn't sure what she'd been afraid of all this time. Insatiable curiousity and yet a hesitation with the unknown. It's an interesting combination of both seeking and avoiding things.

The young woman chuckled at that, "You know, thinking back on it, I'm a little amazed myself." She thought about it for a moment, finding that it wasn't difficult to speak to Vivian about it. "Actually, to hear him say it, it was a most spectular argument and in the end we didn't speak for months. I left Canada and it wasn't until I came here that we saw each other again." But for her part, Lyn didn't remember much of it. She only remembered wanting to bend him in half. Though apparently her grandmother took care of much of that for her. "So I doubt anyone would accuse me of any dramatic shows of patience," she smiled.

"Maybe he does," she confirmed as to any favors owed. "Ari even braved a cab ride, which he distests. Being trapped in a car like that is like a big metal coffin to him." Maybe a different choice of words was in order. But it was accurate. "He wanted me out of that club so bad, I guess he got his wish. We hardly stayed late, and whatever it is he was afraid of happening didn't seem to be close." She leaned forward a bit, "Was Hell really as shady and dangerous as he tried to make it sound?" He could have been exaggerating. He had a tendency to be overprotective, erring on the side of overt caution.

A sly smile crossed her lips, "As soon as you find out, definitely let me know. I don't know...it could be a lot of fun." Sometimes she just really wanted to get out of her comfort zone, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. "You and me both."

Hmm. "May I ask you a question? I mean, I know what I've heard. But I'm curious, I mean...I know this school is full of them but you're the first one I feel like I've had a real conversation with outside of my advisor. Vampire, that is. Do you really have to drink blood in order to survive? Human blood?"

A brow quirked. "Was this the argument that ended with him having boulders thrown at him? And if so, were they really as big as he claims?" Men tended to make things sound much bigger than they really were... Vivian tried to think back to what all Ari had told her about the fight. If it was indeed the same one, he had said some very stupid things, and quite deserved both Lyn, and her grandmothers wraith. For the sound of it, it was indeed the one she recalled. It wasn't really her place to announce that she might know more than was appropriate however. "I doubt so as well. I'm glad the two of you were able to make peace... well more than peace again. As annoying, and arrogant as he is, he's a decent guy." Compared to most. Hell, he had been one of the first people she had met, and they were still on speaking terms.

"Not a big fan of cars myself, so I can't blame him." Very accurate. They were death traps. Not to mention they were bad for the environment. Okay, yeah, now she was starting to think like the bastard, best to ease away before she delved too far into it. "I suppose it is for some. You have to be used to that type of atmosphere, prepared for anything." You had to hang a bit tougher than most. She'd heard of people coming across trouble there, but had not experienced much herself. Then again, some people might have the tendency to stand out like a sore thumb, and just radiate the fact that they were naive. Vivian was jaded, and it tended to show. "Come to think of it... that was sweet of him. To have your best interest in mind."vOr at heart was probably more like it.

Grinning, she nodded, "I will, promise. Just... don't tell him I'm encouraging this, he might scold me for it." Chuckling, she leaned more into the window seel, crossing her legs at the ankle. "I think it could certainly be fun. Not to mention exhilarating. I think everyone should do something like that, at least once in their lives." Wasn't is Eleanor Roosevelt who said you should do one thing that scares you everyday? To test yourself, to see what you were made of. Why not? Might just help keep you on your toes.

Vivian nodded, when Lyn asked about presenting her with a question. Why not? Again she nodded, "We do. Horrible idea, isn't it?" For most non vampires it was. Hell, for some young vampires it was still disgusting. "I'm not sure if we would so much as die, if we didn't feed. But, I do know that if you go too many days without doing so, you... well you sort of go into a temporary insanity. The thirst becomes too much for your body to handle. It isn't a pleasant state to be in."

A look of surprise crossed Evelyn's features. Not shock, but definite surprise. "He told you?" The moment of surprise was then replaced by abject amusement. Lyn couldn't help it, the thought of Ari complaining about her grandmother to the beautiful vampire somehow made her a little giggly. "Really. I'm beginning to think he's just wanting to complain now." But if the girl minds at all, it doesn't seem to show. That Vivian heard isn't really a big deal to her.

"They were probably the size of of small buses if judging by the aftermath was anything. I could actually feel the earth reacting to her power." She gave a sly look to the vampire, "My grandmother is an archmage, you see. Very powerful, born in the mountains of her homeland." She glanced over her shoulder, as if half-thinking the elf might appear if bidden. "But don't tell him I said that. Every time he brings it up, I keep telling him he's exaggerating." Though really, Lyn didn't think the woman would have hurt him. Just scare him...a lot.

Lyn nodded, her eyes sparkling with mischief, "He is a nice guy. If unruly by the standards of his people." She thought for a moment, her brows furrowing as her mind grew distant. It was a moment before she appeared to refocus on the here and now. "The funny thing is as much as his family thinks him such a rebel, Ari is fixated on the people and things he feels he should protect. He takes it very seriously." She shook her head, "We'd had a horrible argument even when we met here at first and still he insisted on following me. I don't know if it's irritating or endearing." Actually, she knew precisely what she thought about it.

"If they do have something like that, we might just have to plan something." The more she thought about it, the more it really did seem to appeal to her. "And don't worry, it'll be our little secret. If he found out, he'd probably go out of his way to make sure we could never talk or plot against him again." As if. What would be the fun in that?

She folded her arms, listening intently. "That...it is horrible." She really couldn't think of another way to describe it. Not in and of itself, but horrible to be placed in such a situation. "Sounds as if you could be subject to something similar to the lunacy that the were creatures can get caught in."

"He did. I think at the time we were trying to show each other up over something, imagine that, and he mentioned it." It had likely been a place of Vivian complaining to him about something, and he felt obligated to complain back. Or something along those lines. She honestly couldn't remember, they'd shared far too many lengthy conversations for her to remember exactly when, and why something was brought into the conversation. "Oh, I'm convinced he likes to complain. You should have heard him after he lost an archery contest to a human. I've never seen him so mopey." And poor thing, Vivian hadn't exactly made things better for him.

Her expression turned to one of a mix of disappointment, and amusement. "So he wasn't just putting on." Damn, she had been looking forward to giving him a hard time about it. Her knowledge of other races, especially those rare to Halcyon was a bit sketchy, but, from what she had heard from Ari, and now Lyn, she could pretty much gather what an archmage was. If the woman could make the earth move, she was no one piss off. Grinning, she nodded, "I won't say a thing. If he knew he was right, it would just go to his head, and give him another reason to be annoying."

"I think he has good intentions. Sometimes, I don't think people know when to pull back, and give us a bit of breathing room." It was nice having someone worry about you, care about you that much, but they could take it to an extreme. "He is a good guy... I've teased him about you, and seen first hand how protective he can be. You won't have to worry about stumbling across trouble on the island, so long as he is around." That might be boring to some, but in her opinion, when she had come across quite enough trouble, the idea was appealing. Just the chance to be really protected. "So, both endearing, and irritating I think." She smiled softly then. Nah, Ari wasn't that bad, he just had his moments.

Oh, Vivian was positive that he would ban the two from speaking, and again Vivian would probably threaten to bite him. It was the way of things with them. Then again, if he liked the way the little plan turned out, again, the elf should thank her. "I suppose it could be very similar. Of course, we don't go all furry, thank goodness, and we can avoid it." Of course, when you weren't able to get to blood, you really couldn't help but go a little mad. "I think that's the most important thing a vampire should learn, to never ignore that thirst, otherwise you'll put a lot of people in danger."

Competitive. Of course. That one upmanship sounds like something Ari would be part of. However, Vivian's next words cause Evelyn to blink repeatedly. Okay, now she just might be in shock. "Aramil Amakiir lost an archery contest to a human?" She thought for a moment, trying to figure out if she'd heard anything about that from him. But if he hadn't mentioned it, she could imagine why. "That's...wow. I mean, archery is something he lives for. I tried to learn at one point, but I'm doing good to hit the target reasonably well."

Evelyn laughed at the expression on Vivian's face. "Not exactly, but that doesn't mean he doesn't complain overly much," she winked. She was usually exposed to the side of the elf that was less arrogant, more laughs and smiles, and even jokes. She'd seem some extreme sides too that normally caused his parents concern. And maybe for good reason. "Probably a good idea," she agreed with the vampire.

"I know he does," she tapped her fingers along the window sill. And really, her curiousity can be a little much at times. She found things fascinating in the supernatural world. Having been raised human, it's probably only natural. But maybe she can be too trusting, too willing to explore before she truly understands. "Maybe you're right. He's saved my life before, so I guess that's a hint."

She nodded, "That is a small favor I'm sure. The teeth are enough, but adding fur and full moon craziness wouldn't be fair." Evelyn wasn't really bothered by the thought of a blood drinker. There were other stranger things that when broken down might seem just as odd. It's the consequences behind it and the state one succombs to that makes her wonder. "There seem to be a few vampires here in school, which seems odd. I mean...does everyone take night classes? How do you cope during the day?" She doesn't want to ask where or how they sleep. Though that burns in her mind as well.

The look which swept over the girls face caught her rather off guard. At first, she didn't know what had caused it, but when Evelyn spoke, it was Vivian's turn to be shocked. He hadn't told her? That was honestly surprising. Maybe he had wanted to save face? "Yes, well... he said she used magic to win, and there are gifted humans here, so it's very possible. It might not have been skill at all." So, she didn't completely believe that. Magic, or not, you have to train to us your gifts, so obviously the girl had some skill, right? She nodded, "He's amazing. He was nice enough to give me a few pointers. Hitting the target is something, but I take it your not practicing anymore?"

"If anything, you could always ask him to back off a bit. Just bat your eyes, and ask in a sweet voice. That might work." She said grinning. Worked on most boys. Vivian had to remember that most of the people here were far younger than she. They hadn't exactly had the chance to get over some of the silly curiosities that so often came with youth. Hell, she'd been rather amazed when she first arrived, meeting all of the different sorts of races. Of course, it was still odd to think of them as such. Wes for example was just a normal guy, until she caught sight of his tail, and was reminded of his heritage. "Did he?" She asked curiously.

Her tongue swept across the front of her teeth then, "Honestly, I don't mind the fangs much. That, or I've gotten used to them." When they first appeared, she'd given them a good looking over, trying to determine that they weren't fake. After all, when you wake up, and someone tells you you're a vampire, having believed that vampires were nothing more than myth, you're going to think they are crazy. Or that it's a bad dream. She had considered both at the time. "There are a few of us, and we're all required to take the bloodlust class, which... I suppose it's considered a night class. As for the whole day thing, well, I've noticed that I'm more, and more drawn to sleep during the day, and be awake at night. So, day time classes suck. I've given up morning classes all together."

This seemed to amuse Evelyn, a wiry smile tugged at the girl's lips. Oh. The elf was going to hear about this one. Leave no doubt about that. "I am definitely going to have to get clarification on that one, I think." At the question posed, she took a breath. "I still practice, just to keep up with things. But it was never exactly my favorite." She thought about it for a moment, "I know fencing as well, I have more of a preference for that. But truly, after spending so much time with the elves, I learned a lot. Ari saw to it that I could be dropped in the middle of nowhere and I think if forced, I could survive really well." She wouldn't starve at least, she'd make shelter, and be able to defend herself. That was more than good enough.

A light laugh was stifled back at Vivian's suggestion. "You think? Might be worth a shot," she grinned. "Then again, he's one of the few people who has at least acknowledged that I shouldn't be treated like a child. Mostly because he suffers that himself." Forget the fact that he was nearly twice her age, they were both in the same boat. And probably would be for awhile.

"He did," she said again. "While we were 'training' once. He had me chasing him across a cliff face. He could run across it as if it were nothing. I wasn't quite so fleet footed. I think we both forgot that. And my powers of flight was less than rudimentary. It caught me off guard when I slipped." She frowned, thinking back on it now. Her foot slipped and twisted, but even so, she wouldn't have been able to catch herself the way she tumbled downward. "He was able to stabilize me until his mother could be found to heal my injuries." She glanced up at the vampire, "Had I been completely human, it may not have been so life threatening. But my mother's people, they are finer and more delicate, and I realized just how delicate that day."

The young half-fae found herself staring as Vivian tongue-checked her teeth. They definitely looked real enough to her, and just the tiniest bit intimidating considering what they were used for. "So you can actually be awake during the day and venture around? Wow. I thought you were forced to sleep until sunset?"

"I'm both surprised, and not that he didn't tell you. I can see why he didn't." Vivian had assumed that since they were so close, he would have told her. Perhaps he had wished to save face after all. Not that she could really blame him. Who wanted to admit something embarrassing to those they have an infatuation with? "I've always loved archery, but I must admit, I've become rather lax in my own training. Seems as if there are is always something else that needs to be done." She had at least taken the time to break in her new bow. Still, she didn't practice it as often as she should. "I bet fencing is exciting." It had to be difficult not to get carried away with it. Vivian nodded, "More people ought to be taught such things. We're all too lazy, I think."

She could certainly relate to that, "He's mentioned that his rank among his people is very low, like that of a child. He's older than I, so I can imagine that has to be frustrating." It seemed to be common among vampires as well. Those elders looked down on the young, treated them as if they were complete idiots because they were young. No, she didn't care for that at all. Yes, they had a lot to learn, but there was no need to be spoken down to. "I doubt I'll ever understand how things work within his peoples society. It's all a bit confusing from the outside looking in."

A very somber look settled upon her face, "Wow, that's scary." Vivian said softly, her dark eyes moving across the girls face with concern. It was difficult to hear such a tale, and not be a bit worried. Even if it was long in the past. "I'm glad he was there, and that he was able to assist you." She was rather impressed that he had been able to remain calm enough to use such a power. "You're part fae?" Vivian thought Ari had told her such, and to hear the way she described her mothers people, it made sense. All that she had heard about fae's seemed to fit.

"You body certainly wants to sleep till sunset. On the weekends, I'm only awake at night. You know how we had the two week break? Well, I went home for that, and slept during the day only. Between having two weeks of that, and the time change, I was miserable when I returned." She laughed lightly. It had been a bit of an adjustment. "Now, I sleep during the say as much as I can."

“So can I.” Aramil admit to being bested by a human? She is sure that there is something else to it, but she isn’t shocked he didn’t go running to her to tell the news. And who knew when it happened, they may not have been on speaking terms. “Fencing is fun. It’s more engaging, at least to me. But I really enjoy it.” There’s something liberating about being so physical, but beyond the weapons, being able to go out in the forest and fully enjoy it from such a unique perspective. “I think people naturally look for the easier way to do things.”

Evelyn nodded, “I guess it’s bizarre when you’re not used to it. I know I’m not. But humans are different, there’s only so long that you could be considered a ‘child’ even by your elders. A human Ari’s age would be considered well into adulthood years over. No more excuses.” She smiled a bit, “Anyone else would probably try to take advantage, but I think if they actually heard him out more often they’d be surprised.” Which would be amazing for several hundred year old woodland guardians. “I’ve been on the outside for years, and just when I think I understand them, something else proves I don’t. Even Aramil surprises me still.”

Scary. Terrifying. She was barely conscious and yet she knew what was going on. She knew what had happened. “So am I.” She nodded to the question posed, “I am,” she explained. “Though I didn’t get to know that side of myself until just a few years ago. I had gone to Canada to live with my grandmother for a time.” And that’s what started everything. “Meeting the elves was her idea. She knew they were migrating there and that it would be a good outlet for me to get to know more about who I was.” She grinned, “She thought seeing it with the elves might prove more responsible than allowing me to hunt them out.”

Ah. That can’t be comfortable, being forced from your natural rhythms. “That can’t be easy. You’d think they would make it easier for you to attend, not that much harder.” Her head took on a curious cock to it, even as she thought about it. Then she grinned, “I slept as often as I could when I went back home. I loved being surrounded by all the trees again. Seeing my family. It was good. I needed that, just to ground myself.”

Hopefully Ari wouldn't be too upset that she had let the story slip. It wouldn't have been the first time the elf became angry with her. Of course, this was quite a bit different from the last time. This was his pride on the line, not just some case of her insulting his stalking in the woods. "I imagine it is. They always say that those really competitive people ought to stick to singular sports. Like golf, or archery even. That way you're not having too much physical contact with your opinionate, and less inclined to play dirty." She nodded, pointing to herself. "That would be me. I played football... er, soccer for a couple of seasons, and was a bit too high strung for that. So, I know I'd likely get out of hand with fencing." Hell, if Starbuck hadn't been twice her size, she probably would have made more of an attempt to kick his ass in combat. "I agree, they are. Terrible habit." She knew, because she could have been counted among them.

"So, you've gone between the human world, and the supernatural world growing up?" It seemed that way to her at least. The way she spoke of going out, and coming back in. Vivian became a bit shifty eyed for a moment. "I admit, I have taken advantage of the fact that he's not as familiar with human culture. Also since he is American, more or less, I tend to confuse him with the way I speak." Using words that might only be known back home. "He's told me quite a bit about his rank, and I suppose they are supposed to hold true to it, but I think he should worry less about what they think of him." Vivian had told him such as well, but he seemed to merely brush the possibility aside.

She smiled softly, "And that's when he pretty much took up the task as your sometimes unwanted guard. So it was fate that brought you two together." That was one thing she believed. That everything happened for a reason. Every meeting, every event. It was all happened to help shape your life, and who you were as a person. Perhaps she was a bit of a romantic when it came to other peoples relationships, but not her own... strange. "Not even our parents, or grandparents can always account for what might blossom when enough time is spent with a person." She doubted that Lyn's grandmother had expected the two to fall in love.

"Well, it's better than it was last semester. They incorporated another time slot for our Bloodlust class. It's later in the afternoon." That had been helpful, for her at least. Besides, if the classes went too late, some of them might not be able to work. Their options were slightly more limited than the other students. Whatever they needed to do, it had to be done at night. They really only had half the time that the others did. "Going home is wonderful. My grandmother is the only one of my family left, so I spent most of my time with her. She finally expected me, for what I am now, she hadn't been able to there for a time." Vivian couldn't be more grateful that the two had made up.

If the elf got upset, he would have only himself to blame. But Evelyn surely wouldn't tease him too badly. Aramil does have the pride of his people through and through. Surprise....right. Evelyn grinned, "Well, if you ever wanted to try it sometime, I'd be more than happy to be your partner. I won't claim I'm an expert, but it would be nice to get some practice in." Besides, that's often the best way to learn and keep up your own skills is by showing and helping someone else. "Don't worry, I trust you not to take my head off."

Lyn nodded her head, "I have," she answered smoothly. "In a lot of ways I still think of myself as human. Old habits." Though one that was breaking since Ari reminded her that she was sure not to age as a human. That had been a somewhat sobering thought when it finally dawned on her.

A soft chuckle answered the woman's statement about taking advantage of the Americanized elf. "Yes, well, just imagine what it was like trying to get him into a movie theater the first time. First, I thought he was going to claw his way out of my car even with the top down and then once inside, I practically had to glue him to his seat. I thought he would become unglued until the movie finally started." That had been an adventure and a half, but at least he saw not all things human and technology were so bad.

"Fate?" Evelyn blushed slightly, her own thoughts not so far from the vampires. "I like to think so. I don't know...." It seemed so whimsical to say it out loud, but maybe that's why it did sound so good to her ears. As firmly grounded as she could be, at her heart, she was a dreamer. "But honestly? I think maybe I was suppose to help be an influence on him as much he was suppose to teach me," she smiled. A win-win situation. Expose the radical elf to 'human' culture to curtail him and let the girl see what all her heritage entailed. A volatile mix it turned out to be.

"So she knows?" Lyn didn't know why, but she'd assumed that most vampires no longer interacted with their families, or had no families to interact with. "I'm glad." She nodded, "Family is important. I don't know really what I would do without mine. But I can't imagine that's easy."

Evelyn straightened herself a bit, reluctant, but a little anxious. "I should probably get going. I flaked on some assignments I should probably get done before I get too far behind." Which in Evelyn's world meant she wasn't ahead. "It was nice to finally meet you, Viv." The girl was indeed pleasantly surprised that the vampire wasn't at all scary. So far.
