Week 23: Friday

Who: Summer and Noah
When: Late Afternoon
Where: A trail in the woods
What: A chance encounter

Summer had been back at Halcyon for a week now. Again, she had ended up showing up right at the end of a semester, a semester during which she had missed far too much to make it up, so she was going to have to wait a couple of weeks and start classes again after the break. But it should be easier for her now. She had a lot better control over her emotions now than she had when she had left here. Hell, she had been around quite a few people since her return, even during the stress of finals, and she had yet to have any outbursts of uncontrollable emotions. She had learned a lot while she was gone, enough to recognize that there was still a lot more for her to learn.

But for now, she was just focusing on the things that helped her to maintain her inner peace and enjoying the quiet of the island, something that she couldn't say she had experienced the last time around. The best way to enjoy it, at least for her, was to take a nice long run, work up a sweat, lose herself in the middle of the forest on a well-trodden path and inhale deeply the scents of the woods, something she had missed while on her little adventure overseas.

She had jogged perhaps five miles before she had to stop and take a breather, slowing to a walk for a bit before finding a tree to rest against while drinking deeply from her bottle of water. Voss had to be some of the best tasting water on earth. She wiped the sweat from her brow and then gave herself a bit of a stretch, rolling her shoulders and then leaning back to massage her own shoulders a bit.

Summer was just about to take off again when she noticed her shoe was untied and she bent down to tie it. Just as she did, she heard footfalls on the path behind her, someone approaching rather quickly, fast and hard. Running partner? Maybe. She started to jog in place waiting for them to get closer so she could see if they even wanted company.

Week Twenty-Two: Monday

Who: Noah and James
Where: Bar down in the city
When: Monday night

Alcohol... well it didn't seem to solve any problems. However it did a damn good job of blurring the fact that problems did in fact exist. That was really all that Noah was aiming for at the moment. A deep seeded desire to... well fuck what did he exactly wish? That he'd never said anything to Natalia? That he'd done something a hell of a long time ago... Honestly Noah wasn't sure. Was there a better option? Well logically speaking growing a pair of balls and getting over his own set of issues a hell of a lot earlier was the better decision but logic rarely seemed to play a role in Noah's thinking.

Instead, he was torn between just wishing he'd managed to keep his stupid mouth shut and between wishing he'd never been so damn pig headed to begin with. Problem was it didn't seem to matter what he wished because none of that changed his current predicament. You know that situation where his best friend and the woman he knew he loved really didn't want to go that particular route with him. Instead she was shacking up with some guy just down the hall.

It really didn't work so well for Noah with the full moon the next day. It was kind of like ripping open some wound and dumping a bottle of salt in it and giving it a good rub. Well maybe not quite like that but his temper was already on edge and the last thing he needed was the accidental run in in the hallway. He'd pass thanks.

So like every day that weekend and the vast majority of the week before Noah had his ass parked on a bar stool. Big ass bowl of peanuts in front of him as requested and begrudgingly provided by the bartender, a beer and Noah was as... well he was just staying there regardless of how he felt. It included ignoring that itch that went through his every muscle with the pull of the moon.

"'Nother one..." Noah said pushing his empty bottle toward the bartender who gave that look that said he didn't really want to get Noah another but seeing as how he didn't appear overly intoxicated there wasn't much he could do. Probably had more to do with the fact that Noah was running low on funds and therefore a shitty tipper. Yeah life was a bitch whatever.

Something pricked at the back of his senses. A familiar... scent or annoyance or something. Noah rolled his shoulders trying to shake it off. Had to be the moon.

Week Seventeen - Tuesday

Who: Noah and Nat
Where: Outside school, fields and more!
When: Tuesday

Okay so maybe Noah was enjoying this. Maybe just a little bit. But what could he say, wind sprints were kind of fun if you were sick in the head like he was. And it wasn't like he was forcing anyone else to do them. It wasn't like the football team had a real coach or anything and it wasn't like practices were like the practices that he'd known for the vast majority of his life. Rather it was something that was supposed to be straight enjoyable.

That said, it was way easier to enjoy football if you could run for a while without you know... wanting to pass out. But he'd belying if he said he didn't kind of like that burning feeling that set in your legs when you pushed through the last sprint.

"COME ON NAT. SUCK IT UP." He yelled over his shoulder at her. Smirk on his face. If anyone else wanted to run these at the end of practice with him, so be it but he was going to make Nat do it. It was good for her. Or something like that. It would continue to do great things for her ass. Not that she needed anything done for her ass. Ahem. Moving on.

Noah finally came to a stop, bent slightly at the waist as he caught his breath, listening for the sound of Nat finishing up. Straightening back up he checked that his t-shirt was still tucked into the waistband of his shirts. It was too warm for that shit. Turning around he smiled over at Nat as he walked toward her. "So. Good practice eh?" He stretched an arm up and over his head, swinging it back down. "So you're not working right?" He actually already knew that, had called down to the bar and asked the manager for her schedule for the week, explaining that he was planning something for his best friend at the school. It was required that he have that bit of info. Was there a particular reason for the surprise extravaganza? No. Did he need one? Well maybe Noah just wanted to pay Nat back for being the sane one when he was having more than his fair share of issues. Lord knew he'd be a mess without her and that he couldn't thank her enough for. This was at least a start.

"Well even if you are..." His lips curved into a smile. "You're not gonna make it down there. I've got plans for you woman." The smile had turned into a full on grin. "But it's shower time and no complaints." Seriously was shower time, but that didn't stop Noah from moving forward in one fluid motion and hoisting Nat over his shoulder.

No if's, and's, or but's about the fact that he had an evening planned for her. And it was going to stay a surprise, mainly because he knew that would just drive Nat crazy. Perfect.

Week Fourteen: Thursday

Where: The beach
When: Evening after class
Who: Nat and Noah

Today was going to be a good day. No, today was going to be a great day! Not only did she have the night off from work, but she was finally getting some quality BFF time with Noah after the not so fabulous trip to Dublin. How long had it been since they had gone out and caught some waves together anyway? Obviously too long if she was having a hard time trying to remember. Poor Noah. She really did feel bad for him having to deal with this whole Summer thing. This supposed pregnancy, sorry Nat still wasn't buying it, had him all messed up in the head but at least he seemed to be snapping out of it. Hopefully an evening at the beach would help him come all the way out of his fog.

Having told Noah to just meet her out there since he had the latest class, Nat spent the time she had before needing to leave packing one hell of a picnic basket for them. Once the food was ready to go, she stopped by her room to change and grab her board and beach bag. Now rather than carry everything down to the beach herself, she stopped by Noah's room to leave her board with his. He did have that snazzy double board bag now and besides, she had slaved for hours and hours (not really) over their dinner so yup. He got to carry the heavy stuff.

After she left his room, she grabbed a blanket from the linen closet and headed on down to set everything up and scope out a good spot. The waves were breaking quite nicely and the weather was perfect for some night surfing. This was definitely going to be a great day er...night. Spreading the blanket out, she set the basket down and pulled out the towels she had brought along as well as the glow sticks just to keep everyone safe. Once that was all said and done, she took a seat and stared out across the water while she waited for Noah to show.

It wasn't too long before she caught his scent on the breeze and she turned and gave him a smile as he came down the hill leading to where she sat. "Hola, mijo!" she called with a little wave as she got to her feet. "You ready to get out there?" The cover-up she was wearing was pulled over her head to reveal the bikini that had been chosen for the day and was set off to the side. "Hurry, I want my board," she grinned as she made grabby hands.

Week Twelve: Friday

When: Early evening
Where: Dublin
Who: Nat and Noah

So far this little vacation hadn’t been everything Natalia had hoped for. Now that wasn’t to say it was bad, but just not super fantastic great. Noah had been in some sort of funky mood for the first week and while he put forth an effort to play nice, it just wasn’t the same as happy Noah. So rather than giving him any time to actually fall into a true funk, Natalia drug him all over Dublin and when they ran out of stuff to see, she drug him up and down the coasts.

But even with the new were stamina, Nat was no super woman and so by the middle of the week she was ready to just relax and enjoy their final days there. Maybe all of the running around had been able to snap him out of whatever it was he was dealing with? Yeah, that’d be nice. If not then maybe she could smack him around a little until he was better? Oo, there’s an idea. Fortunately no beating was required and they spent their last couple of days just bumming around and being lazy.

After breakfast on their last full day there, it was decided that Natalia was going to go off and do some last minute shopping while Noah got to enjoy some time alone to do whatever he wanted (probably sleep) and that they would meet up at one of the local pubs for dinner and drinks. So with her trusty credit card in hand, she set off to put a major dent in her bank account. And oh was it worth it!

There were bags on top of bags in her hands when she was finally done and she questioned how she was going to get it all back to her room when some very nice and super cute Irishman offered his assistance. Oh how she loved this country, heh. After a few blocks of flirting and an invitation to grab a drink later, the bags were finally deposited and she had just enough time to change and meet Noah before she was super late.

Her cheeks were flushed and her hair was windblown as she practically ran inside of the pub. “Hola, mijo! Sorry I am late, but you wouldn’t believe the sales I found!”

Week Six: Friday

Who: ANYONE AND EVERYONE
Where: Heaven
When: Friday Night
What: Charity Date Auction

Eva was something beyond excited. It fluttered about her with nervous energy. If she were out in the open water no doubt there would have been small eddies forming around her in response to the energy she gave off with each and every breath as she hurried about Heaven getting all the last finishing touches done on her crowning achievement. Eva had done her fair share of party planning over the years at Halcyon, she loved being in the mix helping set a mood. And let's face it the girl loved a party... especially a theme party.

But this was something more. It was something that had been entirely her idea. Born of... who the hell knew where but it did put together all her favorite things. Flirting, dating, runway shows, Heaven... the list really could go on. Even in her egotistical glory Eva knew that she couldn't have completed this event without the girls that had volunteered to help out. Taylor, Sam and Frankie had been fantastic, picking up on all the things that Eva was horrible at... you know like the practical aspects of the whole event.

The night had a beach theme as was befitting the charity chosen for the evening and Eva couldn't have been happier. Heaven had been decked out, Vale's assistant proved to be more than helpful at helping her organize the decorations and getting the staff to help out. A runway had been constructed with a podium at the back where Eva planned to do her auctioning from. Tropical plants lined the runway for the dates to strut their stuff along. Eva was almost jealous that she wasn't doing any strutting herself and with the outfit she'd donned for the night... she felt like she could. Perhaps not traditionally beach themed but it was a swimming suit... of sorts and as the auctioneer she thought she needed to glam it up and set herself a part a little.

But when didn't Eva think she needed to set herself a part from the crowd.

Eva exchanged a few last words with the bartenders for the night, making sure that mai tais and other tropical drinks were the order for the night. She wove her way through the tables that had been set up a bit aside from the runway, brightly colored umbrellas over them to add to the theme. She ensured that there was plenty of food ready for people attending and finally she made sure that man at the door was ready to take the $10 dollar cover charge. It was for a charity after all!

Now all she had to do was make sure that the meat er... the dates were ready for their big night!

Week Three: Monday

Who: Noah and Kate
Where: Outside the school, the archery range
When: After clubs meet in the afternoon

Noah was competitive by nature. One didn't play a sport as long as he had, at the levels he had without having that desire to reach the top pushing you along. There were too many other things to be done in life to sacrifice free time, friends, other activities, all in the name of being the best that you could possibly be at one thing. Lord knew that Noah's grades in school could have probably enjoyed a few extra hours of study. Granted he'd done a lot better than most of his teammates. He'd always refused to just let the tutors take the notes for him. He'd actually attempted to get some kind of education. While he'd put almost all his eggs in the football basket, he couldn't just put them all there. He had to have some sort of backup plan, even if it seemed to not even compare...

But it was a reality now. At least as far as Noah could tell it was. That was a fact though that he tried to not think about very often. No, Noah had not really dealt with that whole, dreams over and time to figure out what in the hell he was going to do with his life thing. It was still... a bit too raw to manage for him yet. That and if he was being honest with himself... he was still holding onto that small belief that maybe, if he gained enough control he'd be able to play again... and not take another players head off. Right.

It seemed a bit easier to put all that thought off though when he had a football and a baseball club to get some of it out of his system during. Football was a bit more rag-tag than he was used to, and baseball while he loved it hadn't been his sport the way football had been. They were good though, definitely something to pass the time. Though they weren't what he was currently feeling frustrated with. It wasn't what was making that competitive nature in him chomp at the bit at the fact that he hadn't mastered a particular skill.

Was definitely this damn bow in his hands. He wasn't... terrible. But by no means was he about to enter any competitions. Hell he was still a little worried that he was going to shoot someone in the ass on accident. He had the strength to make it work, it was just coordinating it all and even if he didn't want to admit it... hurt his hands like a sonofabitch. Worse than the game he'd played in below zero and every time the ball was snapped to him it felt like his skin was cracking. So to recap, shit hurt and he wasn't nearly as good at as he wanted to be. So practice and more practice it was... Even though it was starting to get late and the light was starting to fail, luckily better eyesight was a perk of the whole were thing.

Week One: Saturday, April 6th, 2007

Who: Charlie and Ada (and anyone else who wants to join!)
When: Saturday night
Where: Heaven

Charlie was a bit disappointed that he and Ada were sent upstairs to perform. Their shit apparently wasn't 'hard' enough to earn them a billing in the basement (which was where the better party was clearly located). Eh, he still planned to head downstairs later. Hell was a far better venue, and he'd take it over Heaven any day (unless we're talking about the REAL heaven and hell, because then he would much rather ascend). Regardless, he, Ada and Suoh would rock out and give the kids a good show.

He was excited and a little nervous about performing tonight. It hadn't been that long since his last gig, but that last performance with Torque was the night he met Val and became a vampire. He couldn't get the bitey bitch out of his thoughts as he and and the others did a mini sound check just before the show. They'd not had much practice, but Charlie was confident they'd play great. He'd learned all of Ada's songs, and she'd learned his. And Suoh, a crazy ass Japanese man who didn't seem to speak much English, was some sort of musical savant. That fucker picked up all the songs in a matter of hours!

They were going to play a set of six tonight. Three of Ada's songs (Gunpowder and Lead, Kerosene, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and three of Charlie's (Stay Another Night, Vice, and In The City). It hadn't been hard at all to pick the songs. Clearly, Ada was still bitter about the douche she was rebounding from, because her song choices were filled with all sorts of just-got-dumped anger. Charlie felt they would get the audience geared up. Ada's songs had that country flavor, but they had a hardness and rawness that got his attention, and he was sure others would enjoy as well. Charlie's music was straight rock, and he planned to actually sing lead on them. Back home, he left most of the singing to Lewis, but Charlie had a good voice, and the songs were more geared to a man's sound. Besides, he wrote the fucking songs, he should be singing them! Hopefully, it would help him score some quality tail after the performance.

Just before going on stage, Charlie did two quick lines of blow. He wanted a bit more, but he couldn't afford to lose his head. He was worried Val was in the audience, and if he saw her, he planned to give her a piece of his mind. Fuck the whole 'not hitting women' thing. That really only applied to ladies, and Val was no lady! The Bitey Bitch needed to get her ass handed to her, and Charlie felt up to the task.

But, he tried to put thoughts of her aside as he looked to Ada and Suoh. With a nod, Suoh counted them in, and soon enough, Charlie and Ada joined in on guitar and bass. The sound was good, really good. Amazing that three people with such limited experience playing together could rock out like that, but they did, and Charlie felt all his problems melt away. As the three played their intros... Ada addressed the crowd, giving credit where credit was due, to the man who done her wrong, "This song's for any of you girls out there who've ever been mistreated by a man..." And so it began. The girl had serious chops, and she owned the stage when she was on it. She wasn't the most stunning woman upon first glance, but it was hard to take your eyes off her when she performed. Charlie joined in as backup, and it wasn't long until the crowd started to get into it.
