Week 15: Monday Morning

Who: Xander and Kalli
Where: Cove on the west side of Island
When: Monday Morning, just after dawn around 6am

Now this was more like it. The demon had been ‘good’ for far too long in that school, and there was nothing like old habits to bring the spirits up. Xander had found what he thought was the perfect spot on the island. Of course, he would have to look across the island for other coves, but this one wasn’t too far from the school, and he could hit the beach and still head back to school in time for morning classes. Which, at least for his morning run made it the ideal beach.

It helped that the waves weren’t all that bad either. The currents outside of the cove combined to create a good, solid wave system. They might not have been the largest waves he ever surfed, but they were good enough for his needs. Plus, the cove was on the west side of the island, so he didn’t have to worry about the sun coming up and blocking his line of sight. And no rocks in the water, at least none he found with his exploratory searching cruise. He was sure he’d find some sooner or later, he always did.

For the past hour, Xander had been running the waves. Ever since the sun had come up over the horizon, he was there and riding. He was in a good mood, a very good mood, and riding the curls only made it even better. The only thing that was missing was serious waves. The four and five foot swells the island got were nice and all, but he needed those with at least ten to twelve. Those were the types of waves that had tubes that were big enough for a person to ride down in. And there was little that compared to in this life than riding the tube within the surf.

And now, he was making another run, as he paddled with the rising crest, toward the shore. He lifted himself up onto his feet as he got into his position and then angled his board to ride the wave for its fullest inbound.

Week Twelve: Thursday Afternoon

Who: Ari and Kalli
Where: Out by the lake
When: Late Afternoon
Why: Nature types being all nature like..

The elf was enjoying the break for all it was worth. No need to be indoors for most of the day. No need to perform ritual school work after hours as well. He would never quite understand why they felt the need for such things, it was so different than how his people taught their own. You were showed how to do something, and then expected to be able to do it. After a time of practice, of course. No text books, no read this chapter, none of that. And of course, no finals to cram for. Though, his clan did have something similar to ‘finals’. The final test his father gave him for his survival training was one he would never forget. Of course, then that had been the idea.

He should have gone back to the mountains during the break. Should have gone back and seen if his parents were happy enough to let him stay there and not have to return to Halcyon again, but he knew that wasn’t going to be the case. Aramil knew his father wasn’t going to be happy with just a couple of weeks of this particular training episode. So, the young elf remained behind on the islands and decided to get more familiar with his surroundings.

For nearly the entire break, he was out in the woods. His room was barely used. If he was in it at all, it was only to get a change of clothing, or to wash something off he couldn’t get off on his own out in the woods. The weather on the islands was mild enough, that he really never thought about being outside all night long. It really was different than the mountains he was used to, where one could literally freeze to death at night, even an elf prepared for the winters. He even returned to ‘harassing’ the wildlife, particuarlly the deer. While he didn’t harm any of them, he knew they didn’t appreciate having their backsides hit with a harmless blunt arrow. But, he needed to keep up his archery skills, and that was the best way he knew.

He had only been on his favorite ledge over the lake for a few minutes that afternoon when he heard a noise. Ari tilted his head slightly, as he turned his ear toward the sound the sound of someone walking by. The elf gave a faint smirk as he shook his head. Light steps, he thought to himself, definitely a woman. Must be her. Pity the ‘her’ wasn’t the actual person approaching. He would learn that soon enough.

The elf glanced around for a moment, before he pulled himself from the ledge. Still thinking that the approaching person was someone else, he just smiled to himself as he quickly moved back to the treeline and disappeared up one of the trees next to the lakeshore. He always did enjoy sneaking up on people. It was going to get him hurt some day.

Week Ten: Friday

Who: Kalli, Micah, Cassandra
When: After Classes
Where: Outside

If anyone had met Kalli in the last few weeks they'd probably describe her as quiet and shy. Usually she couldn't be any further away from those two words, but they had been fairly accurate lately. After getting back from her trip home she felt a little torn, wishing she could exist in two places at once. It weighed heavily on her mind for awhile, and seemed to damper her usually vibrant personality.

The school was so beautiful, and the people there only added to it's beauty. Kalli felt at home in the school as much as anywhere else she had been. But she had also made a promise to herself that if she ever found someone she could call "family" she'd fight tooth and nail to keep it. And Kalli did find that family, only she wasn't with them. She couldn't help but wonder if she was betraying a part of herself in not being with them, and the only way she could describe how she was feeling was 'torn between two places.' What could she do? Stay at the school and leave something she had wanted for the better part of 26 years, or go home and spend the rest of her life wondering what could have been at the school? There were so many questions rattling in Kalli's head for the last few weeks. Did her priorities change? Was that okay? Why was she even putting so much thought into it?

It became clear that Kalli needed time to think so she took a little hiatus from her outgoing self to do a little soul searching. She couldn't feel like she was cheating herself for much longer, she needed to figure out where she should be and she needed to make sure she was comfortable with it. A week was all it took though. Soon, she was her usual vibrant self, perhaps even more so now that the sun was finally shining. Her decision was resting peacefully - even though it hurt a little that she couldn't mother her adopted siblings, knowing that her family supported her being at the school made the choice a lot easier. At Halcyon she would stay!

In fact today... )

Week Nine: Saturday

Who: Jesse and Kalli
Where: Ice cream Shop
When: Jesse's break

For the millionth time this week, Kalli found herself wandering around outside without any particular end point in mind. For the past week or so after having come back from her home in the mountains, Kalli remained quiet and introspective. But she had sorted through all of that, and was walking outside to simply be outside now.

It was beyond her, how anyone could be inside today. She lived for warm weather and the sun on her face. Her feet had eventually led her down to the city, where she encountered some younger kids walking away with ice cream. That's when she remembered Jesse and immediately scolded herself.

Maybe those few weeks of introspection caused a little bit of selfishness to arise in her. Kalli had completely forgot about all the stuff that Jesse had going on, and as soon as she remembered she immediately turned towards the ice cream shop. Walking in, a bell over the door jingled, announcing her entrance.

Finding Jesse, she smiled brightly, "Do they give you breaks around here or is it strictly slave labour?"

Week Seven: Thursday

Who: Everyone who received an invite, and their guest (Check Wes' page, if you're not sure about an invite.)
Where: Gun Smoke Tattoo
When: Thursday Night
What: Shop Warming party, and small gig

There was a goal here. After living in Vegas, having been to so many bitchin' parties, your standards for them rose. The normal, punch, and cookies, with a shit ass dj, lurking in some corner, wouldn't cut it here. Hell no. The goal, was to make this party, just as fucking killer, as any party he'd been to in Vegas. To make those parties jealous even. With the help of his friends, and brothers, it seemed as if that was going to happen. All the elements were in place, now it would be down to those in attendance, to make the most of it. Wes was sure of one thing, he was going to have an amazing time, there would be no stopping that.

The Spooks had been a huge help, in their time on the island. While Wes tended to his classes, they took care of setting up for the party. Doing little things here, and there. Anyone who came into the shop after that Monday, would notice that certain things were off. It was all in preparation. Now, it was ready, everything was good. A bar had been constructed against on the walls. Bottles, upon bottles were either stacked beneath it, or on the packing crate shelves they had built last Monday. Wes had been told that there was more than enough liquor... he was starting to question whether it was enough. Also available at the bar, one would find certain goodies upon request. That was one good thing, about knowing drug dealers. They made excellent party guest. Aside from the bar, another sofa had been added to the sitting area, similar to the one all ready occupying the space, but not nearly as detailed.
Let the fun begin. )

Week Six: Saturday, May 11th, 2007

Who: Starbuck and Kalli
When: late Saturday night (probably close to midnight)
Where: walking around on the beach

Starbuck shut down his computer after Kalli agreed to go for a walk with him, and got dressed. He'd been trying to sleep the last hour or so without any success. It was really too bad his mother had to be at the airport early Sunday, otherwise he could have called her for some advice. But, Kalli was a good substitute. Since Addy left, Kalli and Taylor had really been the only people Starbuck felt completely comfortable talking to. He felt he could tell them almost anything... not everything, but a lot of stuff. Really Kat was the only person at school he could open up to completely.

When he'd thrown on his boardshorts, a thick navy hoodie, and his flip flops, Starbuck headed off to meet Kalli outside the school. Going for a walk with her would help... he hoped. Hey, at least he wasn't running off to Kat's room to see if Noah was in there naked! And he wasn't even punching walls or shit in the gym. So, he was improving with his whole anger management issue, right? Selene should be proud! This was the mature way of coping with jealousy... hopefully.

It was very hard to leave his room and walk through the common room of Aquatic without taking a detour, but he managed to do it. Soon enough he was outside breathing in the crisp night air. It was refreshing. Yeah, this was what he needed... this and a talk with Kalli. Then he'd be able to stop picturing Kat getting a rub down from the quarterback and remember that she really did like Starbuck, she just had some weird hang-up with commitment.

Week Six: Friday

Who: ANYONE AND EVERYONE
Where: Heaven
When: Friday Night
What: Charity Date Auction

Eva was something beyond excited. It fluttered about her with nervous energy. If she were out in the open water no doubt there would have been small eddies forming around her in response to the energy she gave off with each and every breath as she hurried about Heaven getting all the last finishing touches done on her crowning achievement. Eva had done her fair share of party planning over the years at Halcyon, she loved being in the mix helping set a mood. And let's face it the girl loved a party... especially a theme party.

But this was something more. It was something that had been entirely her idea. Born of... who the hell knew where but it did put together all her favorite things. Flirting, dating, runway shows, Heaven... the list really could go on. Even in her egotistical glory Eva knew that she couldn't have completed this event without the girls that had volunteered to help out. Taylor, Sam and Frankie had been fantastic, picking up on all the things that Eva was horrible at... you know like the practical aspects of the whole event.

The night had a beach theme as was befitting the charity chosen for the evening and Eva couldn't have been happier. Heaven had been decked out, Vale's assistant proved to be more than helpful at helping her organize the decorations and getting the staff to help out. A runway had been constructed with a podium at the back where Eva planned to do her auctioning from. Tropical plants lined the runway for the dates to strut their stuff along. Eva was almost jealous that she wasn't doing any strutting herself and with the outfit she'd donned for the night... she felt like she could. Perhaps not traditionally beach themed but it was a swimming suit... of sorts and as the auctioneer she thought she needed to glam it up and set herself a part a little.

But when didn't Eva think she needed to set herself a part from the crowd.

Eva exchanged a few last words with the bartenders for the night, making sure that mai tais and other tropical drinks were the order for the night. She wove her way through the tables that had been set up a bit aside from the runway, brightly colored umbrellas over them to add to the theme. She ensured that there was plenty of food ready for people attending and finally she made sure that man at the door was ready to take the $10 dollar cover charge. It was for a charity after all!

Now all she had to do was make sure that the meat er... the dates were ready for their big night!

Week Four: Saturday Afternoon

Who: Kalli and Jesse
When: Saturday afternoon
Where: Greenhouse
What: Kalli giving Micah's crop a little nudge and Jesse hiding from Bec

Kalli woke up early enough in the day to see the sun poke through the clouds as the earth completed yet another circle. She absolutely lived for the sunrise, and the sunset. Actually, she lived for just about anything. Kalli was just that kind of easy going. She had never really lived with any purpose in mind, but didn't live with the mundane 'taking it a day at a time' philosophy either. Growing up, she learned it was best to not have a plan. That way you weren't disappointed, and were open to anything that came to pass.

It worked for her, at least. Today was a little different though, she had a bit of a plan. Having 'won' some of Micah's pot, she figured she'd lend some of her abilities to his plants in one of the secluded greenhouses. When they first met, he took her up there and well..Micah was good people. She figured if she was going to do something nice for someone, it might as well be him.

So after a few hours of walking around outside, and just simply enjoying existing, she snapped out of her stupor and began the trek to her destination. She creaked open the door and took a look around. Everything was here, enough water, some dirt, there was even a beam of sun willing to help her out. Not to mention some of the smaller nymphs that had been no doubt, helping the plants along as well. Kalli didn't want to disturb them, but she quietly whispered to no one in particular, that she was here to help a friend. Some of the wary vibes she was getting seemed to die down, and Kalli took it as a good sign.

Gingerly, she snapped a stem off one of the bushels and placed it in a fresh pot. Soon after, she dipped her hands in a bucket of water and buried them beneath the soil. Focusing her energy, the leaflet began to brighten and get a little larger. But her concentration broke when she heard the door creak open again. Kalli, hand still in the dirt, looked over her shoulder to peer around the corner to see who was there.

Week Two: Thursday

Who: Kalli and Charlie
When: Thursday night, after sunset
Where: On Charlie's bike, outside somewhere

Kalli had been amused by Charlie's comment the other night. Ride his bike, among other things. Kalli wasn't that easy, c'mon! The impression Kalli might be giving wasn't really all that accurate, she did have some standards. Then again, the impression Charlie was leaving on her might not be all that realistic either, he could just be really really cocky. She was curious to find out though, which was why she had agreed to meet him tonight.

She had spent the majority of her day, like any other day - in classes, and then wandering around outside. Kalli had to be outside, too much time indoors left her feeling sick and weak and it just seemed to happen quicker now that the weather was starting to turn for the better. Okay, it was getting better as slowly as it possibly could but it was still better than snow, nonetheless.

Eventually she came back in from a small excursion outside to change into warmer clothes. Clouds had rolled in as the sun set and it began to rain lightly, only pausing every so often. Kalli didn't mind the rain, she actually kind of liked it. She loved the way everything smelled after it had finished. Crappy weather was just the way things worked, and she hoped that Charlie wasn't going to let a little water stop him, although she seriously doubted that would happen.

In her room, she opened her closet and kicked through a pile of clean clothes that didn't quite make it to the hangers. What do you wear on a bike? She had never been on one, and truth be told, they didn't look like her kind of thing. Being able to walk almost anywhere she wanted served her well enough. Her mind could be changed though, so she continued shuffling through the mess. Dark fitted jeans, a tight black t-shirt and a fitted black jacket completed her outfit. All these men were starting to have an impact on her vanity, she decided as she looked at herself in the mirror. Her clothes hugged all the right places, not really what she was going for tonight, but she didn't much feel like sifting through that pile again. Kalli's hair was left long and blond to hang past her shoulders and trail down her back in loose curls, she wouldn't be tampering with that, her hair did whatever it wanted anyway. All that's left were shoes. This was the one thing she always had a problem with, being as tall as she was, heels weren't always the best choice. Shaking her head at how much effort she seemed to be putting into getting ready, she pulled a on a pair of black boots with a slight heel and headed out the door, not bothering to look in the mirror again.

The common room of Terrene was empty, so she took a seat on one of the couches and crossed her legs. The few minutes she probably had waiting, left her to think about Charlie's game. Clearly he was looking to get laid, but there had to be at least a little more to him than that. Hopefully so, or else he'd be a very sorry man tonight. As for herself, she was happy with what she was getting as far as that went, but she didn't see any harm in teasing. Flirting was fun, and an adrenaline rush all on it's own. Damn, maybe she did enjoy playing 'hard to get' more than she realized.
