Week Twenty: Thursday
Who: Cissy and Sydni
When: Evening
Where: The Caf

Dinner. Why was it that everyone always wanted to meet over food? Cissy could barely stand food. She hated trying to eat in front of someone. She felt pressured to at least try to eat and then she just felt sick with herself afterwards. But apparently Sydni was a busy girl and dinner was pretty much the only free time that she had. But why did it have to be the Cafeteria? The food there was hardly edible. Granted, it was better than some of the Cafeteria food she had eaten, or not eaten rather, in her life, but it was still just.. Well eww. It made her feel disgusting just thinking about eating it. She preferred to only eat food that she prepared herself, truth be told, just so she would know exactly what was going into her body. But whatever! She was here anyway.

With a sigh, Cissy glanced around looking for this girl that she was to meet under the pretense of easing the other girl's mind about Cissy being involved with Simon. Aww, Simon. Just thinking about him made her smile. The truth of the matter was, however, that Cissy wanted to size her up, see whether or not she had anything to worry about when it came to this girl. Was she potential competition? Cissy wasn't sure yet, and that was the entire point of this little meet and greet. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. That was the golden rule, wasn't it? That's what she had always thought.

While waiting, it was decided that Cissy needed a fresh manicure. She would see to that after school on Friday. It was also decided that she would go for the spaghetti simply because that was something she could push around enough to make it look like she had eaten some without really having to eat it. She had already had a protein shake so she was good until tomorrow. And then finally someone started to approach her in their designated meeting area and she had to assume that it was Sydni. She frowned a little though it was hardly noticeable. She was cute. That was disappointing.

"You must be Sydni." The frown was replaced with her best smile as she extended a hand. "Cecilia, but you can call me Cissy."

Sydni was very busy, especially now that she had Molly to care for. The pup needed a lot of attention. She'd not really had any training for most of her life, so she was especially wild now. But she was a good-natured dog, and seemed to have a strong desire to please, so the training would hopefully go well.

The brunette honestly had no clue that she had been invited here under pretense only. She was honest, and often made the mistake of assuming others were, too. She was still down about Charlie and Davia leaving, but she did her best to smile when she noticed the other girl.

Taking the hand, she smiled softly in return. "I am. It's good to meet you finally. I know your cousins Frankie and Vinnie, and well, Simon won't stop talking about you." Her grin widened a bit. It was good to see romance working out, at least to start.

"Really?" She asked, her smile turning a bit softer now, a slight blush forming in her cheeks. "He talks about me?" She wasn't really shocked about it, but then again, well, yeah, she was. After all, the men that had come and gone in her life before weren't really the type to get very taken with a girl, so this was a whole new experience for her. And she was really liking it.

"Frankie and Vinnie are great, aren't they?" At least Vinnie was. Frankie.. well, the ground was still a little shaky there but she was certain that they would work it out sooner or later. As long as they could both prevent themselves from giving up, it was bound to happen eventually.

"So shall we?" She gestured towards the line. Food and then a table. Afterwards, they could really talk. It still sucked that they couldn't meet some place a little bit nicer.

Cissy's reaction made Sydni smile. She was under the impression that Cissy was a bit, well... Sydni didn't imagine she was the type to blush frequently. It was very sweet, and she felt assured that Cissy was genuine in her relationship with Simon. It was good to know that her friend was in a good relationship, it seemed.

"Oh, yeah. I know Frankie much better, but I've met Vinnie, too." Nodding at the suggestion, Sydni made her way to the food lines, and picked out a nice grilled veggie wrap, onto which she promptly added bacon bits. So the wolf was a bit demanding. It happened. "Where would you like to sit?" She didn't really care, so she left it up to Cissy.

Cissy was completely taken with Simon. He was the first guy to ever be sweet to her, to ever seem to really want her and only her, completely. Why wouldn't she be smitten? She was starved for it really. He might not have been everything that she was looking for, but he made her feel exactly how she wanted to feel and that was what really mattered. The rest would come in time.

"Frankie and I don't really get along." Cissy admitted, though why she did that she wasn't entirely sure. She just thought it would be a good conversation starter. "Of course, I've not always been the best cousin." She shrugged her shoulders slightly to make it seem less important than it really was and so that maybe it would be dropped as they moved through the lunch line.

Instead of spaghetti, Cissy went with a chef salad, no cheese, no dressing, just some lemon wedges to flavor it up some. "Uhm.." She glanced around the caf and then nodded towards a table in the back. "There." She said, and then made her way over, taking a seat and unfolding her napkin in her lap.

"So.. how long have you been here? You're a werewolf, right?" Simon had said that, hadn't he? She couldn't really remember. "Do you have a boyfriend?" That question was loaded, of course, or at the very least meant to either relieve her or make her worry more depending upon the answer.

And that was really all that mattered as far as Sydni was concerned. That each person made the other feel special and wanted. The rest would come in time.

"Yeah, she mentioned that." Frowning at Cissy's admission, the brunette offered, "Well, if you know that, then you can make it better. And I'm sure Frankie's not totally innocent either. Usually with something like this, both sides have hurt each other." Shrugging, the lycan finished, "Family's the one thing that doesn't change. Friends, boyfriends, do, but family doesn't."

Sydni took the seat with the best surveillance of the surrounding area. She didn't know Cissy well enough to know if she was that kind of observant, so she took the position herself.

"Oh, um, about four months. Yeah, I am." By the way the brunette shifted so her hair temporarily shielded her face it was obvious that it was not something she appreciated. Startled at the rather sudden question, she blinked for a moment, and then just shook her head. Looking forlornly at her sandwich, it was apparent that this was also a sore spot. It seemed that the Vallario family had a knack for finding all the open wounds on a first meeting.

So far everything was good. And oddly enough, as much of a.. well, nympho as Cissy had been, she didn't even miss the sex. But really, it was never about the sex to begin with. It was always about something more, something else, and now that she was in what could probably pass for a healthy relationship, she didn't really need it. That wasn't to say that she didn't want it though. She did want Simon. When he was ready.

"Hmm.. that might not be so easy." Cissy said with a frown forming upon her lips. "I've been trying for ages but Frankie... she's just not so good with the letting things go thing." She rolled her eyes and groaned. "Sometimes I wish that families would change." By that, she meant her mother, though she didn't go into that detail just yet.

"So what's that like? Being a werewolf? Were you born that way or did you get bitten?" Cissy was never good at the whole tact thing. She would answer just about any question that was asked of her and she expected most people to do the same. But she was at the very least observant. And she knew what that last look meant. "Who is he?" The guy that she liked that didn't like her back, or whatever the case may be. She imagined that it must be a man more like Xander and certainly not Simon which was a relief but it did make her feel bad for the girl.

Sydni frowned. She could imagine that Frankie might have a hard time letting things go - she seemed like a passionate woman. But then, Cissy didn't seem all that easy to live with, from what she'd seen in the journals. At the last comment, thinking she was referring to Frankie, her frown deepened, but Sydni remained silent. She was frustrated with her cousin and she could understand that. If Cissy insisted on insulting her friend, that would be a whole other situation.

At the blond's persistent questioning, Sydni's posture turned a little more defensive. She was more rigid and she had broken eye contact to stare at her dinner. "I was bitten. And it sucks." Not caring to elaborate she paused for a moment before taking a bite of her sandwich. At the second question, she looked up sharply. That was unexpected. Swallowing, she took the moment to collect herself. "It doesn't matter," she shrugged. She really didn't feel like dishing. "He doesn't return how I feel, so it doesn't matter. Simon, on the other hand, adores you," she added with a slight smile. Ah, yes, topic change.

"I guess it would be difficult." Granted, the girl looked entirely uncomfortable with the conversation, but Cissy was never one to really just give up talking about something because someone didn't care for it all that much. If people never talked about the things that bothered them, then they'd never get over them, right? "I mean.. to have been human once, normal, and then..." Her voice faded out for a moment in thought. "I kinda wish I had been human once, at least for a little while. Just so I could experience the things that I can't experience being what I am, ya know?" Like going to mass, getting christened, things of that nature.

"Does he?" Cissy asked, her smile turning slightly sheepish. "I mean.. I know he likes me and all but.. he seemed kinda... reluctant at first..." That made her smile turn to a frown as she looked down at the ring on her hand. "No one's ever been as nice to me as he is. I've never... No one has ever made me feel like having just me and only me is enough. Until now." She laughed a little. "Which I mean that's just crazy, right? Because I'm a total catch!"

Cissy chewed her lower lip for a moment and then asked in a low voice, "It's not Xander, is it? Because... Well he's nice and charming and sometimes reliable but he's never going to be any good for any girl." She scoffed. "trust me. I know."

Sydni was still uncomfortable with the topic, but she could change it, even still. "What are you?" Frankie had never said. In fact, wasn't half her family human? Now she really was curious. It wasn't just a distraction.

"I think he's just shy," the brunette assured her. Laughing, Sydni nodded. "You are a very beautiful woman. And you seem to have a good heart." Maybe a bit wounded, maybe a bit edgy... But that could be a shield. Sydni understood shields.

"Xander? No." She didn't really know a Xander. He sounded familiar, though. "I'm sorry." She knew what it meant to be hurt by a guy.

"Oh! Uhm.." Cissy laughed. "Well my papa is a fire mage and mother is an ice demon." It was clear just in the way that she said their titles that she was a total daddy's girl and that she didn't care much for her mother. Her disdain could not be fully conveyed in such a short remark, but it was at least evident. "Nice combination, huh?" She laughed again and shook her head. "But that's why I'm here. To figure out the balance. It isn't easy though."

Cissy would never admit to having a shield but that was exactly what most of her personality was about. She had been through so much and most people didn't understand that, didn't see it, didn't want to. It was easy for people to just lump her up in the category of "poor little rich girl" but there was much more to her story than that. "I dunno about all that. I mean.. the good part but.." She frowned a little and shrugged her shoulders. "He's really great. And I really like him a lot."

"Good." She offered her a smile. "You should really keep it that way."

"Wow, that must be... difficult." Sydni paused, and self-consciously covered up her pentacle ring. She hated that she'd burned people before, and she certainly didn't want to burn Cissy. "So, you have both powers then?" For a split second she had a vivid image of the blond creating steam instead of either fire or ice, but she quickly banished it. How immature.

Sydni smiled. She could tell how much she liked him, and how much he liked her. She really hoped things worked out between them.

"Uh, ok..." She really didn't plan on seeing anyone for a while. It wasn't a good idea.

"Uhm.. well yes and no." Cissy said, a laugh parting her lips. "I have them both, just... not very good with either of them." She shrugged her shoulders slightly. "Fire I can somewhat control. I have gotten much better with it because papa was always teaching me and hiring other fire mages to show me things but the ice..." She rolled her eyes. "Well mother isn't nearly as involved in my supernatural education o I haven't really mastered that. I just.. well sometimes I might set things on fire or freeze them by accident still." And that was really quite inconvenient.

"So what do you and Simon do or talk about when you hang out?" It was time for a happier subject. "And like.. what sort of things are you into?" She knew nothing about the girl other than she was a werewolf and a witch. Aside from that, she only knew that Simon liked her, looked up to her, which would make her either a really good ally or a terrible enemy depending on how things went.

"Maybe you and Frankie could bond over that? She's good with fire, isn't she?" Sydni wanted to see the two relatives mend their relationship. Nothing was more important than family, in her opinion. She knew there were sucky ass families, and those people should be truly ashamed. It was up to friends, then, to make up the difference. She knew about that. "Oh, I'm sorry. Is there anyone here who can control ice?" The brunette was obviously a bit shocked. Accidental fire or freezing didn't sound all that good. Especially fire. "Oh my. That would be inconvenient."

"Oh... Not much. He's been talking about you recently. He's a really good kid. Did you know he tries to learn something new every day? It's very cool. To want to learn without having to." To the scientist, it was heartening, that's for sure. Startled that she cared to know about her, the brunette paused for a moment. "Oh, um, I'm a scientist. I study sharks. So, I really like the ocean. And literature. But otherwise, I'm afraid I'm rather average..." She smiled weakly. She didn't really have much to say about herself.

"Hmm.. I honestly don't know." She said, a small frown furrowing her brow. "But Simon and I have that in common so he can help with that at least. It's just... well whenever I work with someone who is strictly fire, I always run the risk of hurting them. And me too." She gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "The ice thing. Of course neither one is very comfortable for me." If she used one power, it hurt because of the other one. And vice versa. She was really just screwed all the way around.

"I think it's pretty evident that my parents never should have reproduced but.." She shrugged again. "It could be worse." It could always be worse.

"He's not a kid." Cissy would insist upon that because hearing it termed that way just made her feel kind of odd about their relationship. But mentally and emotionally speaking, they seemed to be on a pretty level playing field. Both of them had been through some pretty fucked up things that had both aged them and impeded them in similar ways. "And it is cool. He's very talented at a lot of different things. I wish I had half of his drive." She laughed a little.

"I'd never been to the ocean until I came here. Well, I mean, I've been to the ocean, I suppose, like in New York and the coast of Greenland, but never to an actual beach." That made her think of Starbuck, which brought a frown to her lips. She missed him. He had been a good friend. Hopefully he was doing well. "Simon's quite terrified of water. But I personally would love to learn to surf."

"Oh no... Is there a way for you to learn to control them without actually using them? I mean if it hurts..." Sydni didn't have any control over the fact that using her power was painful. But if using a power was painful to someone else, there should be a way to lessen that pain.

At her insistence, the brunette could only smile the knowing smile of someone with a bit more age. He was a kid to her. It was very evident in some of his behaviors, despite his maturity in other ways. Yes, he had the wisdom that comes with terrible experiences, but he was still young, and sheltered in other ways.

"Oh, I don't know how to surf." The brunette opened her mouth to say that Charlie was going to teach her, but she quickly closed it, as a sad look crossed her face. She didn't really want to explain, though, so she changed the topic. "I do know how to SCUBA, though. If you ever want to go out, I'd be happy to take you."

"Not that I know of." Cissy gave a small shrug of her shoulders and frowned. It really was just horrible having two opposing abilities. But there was no real way around it. She was always going to feel conflicted in that way, which was part of why it was so nice to finally not feel so conflicted in other areas of her life.

"I don't either. But Xander likes to surf a lot. Simon is scared of water though." She frowned a little bit. "I suppose I could still learn. And then maybe, if I were better in the water, then Simon might trust me enough to try it." He had walked on the beach with her, for her, even got his feet wet a little.

She made a little bit of a face at the suggestion of Scuba diving. "I dunno if that's really my thing. Like... I dunno. That just seems kinda creepy." And having fire as one of her primary elements made it feel even more creepy, of course surfing was a bit of a stretch as well but she could handle that. It didn't involve such permanent immersion.

"I'm sorry... That really sucks," Sydni offered. It really did suck. At least she only felt the pain of the full moon once a month.

"Well, couples shouldn't have everything in common anyway. You need something of your own, or you'll get sick of each other." Smiling, Sydni nodded about Simon. "He tries to make himself better, really. He goes down to the beach, to get over his fear, I think. That's where I met him."

"Creepy?" the brunette questioned. She'd heard a lot of reasons to not go SCUBAing, but never creepy. Shrugging, she offered, "You could always just sunbathe on the boat." That's what Serghei had done.

"I know. I mean like.. we have lots of stuff that keeps things interesting." She said, and gave a small shrug of her shoulders. She smiled a little, biting her lower lip in a moment of sudden shyness. "And, well, I think it's really good that we aren't sleeping together. It makes.. it makes everything else all that much more thrilling." She giggled a little, her cheeks turning slightly red at the admission.

"Well yeah. I mean.. when fire is one of your elements, being submerged completely in water is definitely creepy." She explained with a laugh. "But I do like sunbathing." She smiled brightly at the suggestion, then picked up her fork and poked her food around a little bit on her plate.

"So... I should probably admit something to you." Cissy said after a moment, looking up at Sydni, head lowered, her eyes veiled by her thick lashes. "I thought you might be competition for me, when it comes to Simon, and that's... well a major part of the reason why I wanted to meet you." She laughed and chewed her lower lip. "Seems silly, huh?"

Surprisingly, Sydni did not show any embarrassment when Cissy talked about what she and Simon were or were not doing in bed. Instead, she just smiled softly. Some people could know right away if they were meant to be with someone, but most honestly should wait to have sex, in her opinion. If you wanted to just have fun, then so be it. But she felt that to make a strong relationship, waiting until the relationship had a solid foundation to have sex was the best idea.

"Me?!" Sydni asked in shock. Looking totally incredulous, she paused for a moment before chuckling. Nodding, she concurred, "Yeah. Simon is a sweet guy, but a bit young for me, I think." She chuckled, and then assured her the younger woman, "I just want to see Simon happy. And you make him happy."

This was the first relationship that Cissy had ever been in that did not revolve entirely and solely around sex. And it was nice for a change. It wasn't that she didn't desire him, however, because she did, and she wanted to be with him. She wanted to teach him everything. But it was nice to be valued for more than just what she could do between the sheets. She had never really had that before. It was definitely helping to improve her self esteem.

"Do you think he's too young for me?" She was older by quite a few years, but her mentality wasn't so very old. Cissy was kind of like a child still in so many ways and there was a chance she would always be that way. "I do make him happy, don't I?" She asked, smiling sheepishly once more. "He makes me happy too. I just.. I hope that I don't bore him." She had bored everyone else that she had cared for.

Sydni remembered being on the opposite side of that, being eager to learn from her first. She wanted to learn how to please him, how to make him feel the pleasure she did.

Smiling softly, she shook her head, "No. I think you're pretty young, too. Younger than me, and closer to his age anyway." Her smile widened, and she hoped Cissy wouldn't think she thought her too young. She didn't, but to Sydni, a lot of people seemed young.

"So, gosh, every time I try to change the subject to something other than Simon, I end up going right back to it." Cissy rolled her eyes at herself and smiled. "Sorry." She had to think that Sydni probably understood how that was when you met someone that you cared a great deal about and it was right in the beginning of the relationship.

"I am full." She announced as she pushed the plate back from her having hardly touched any of the food. She never did have much of an appetite. But she was doing better. She was actually eating once in a while now instead of starving herself pretty much all the time. "Crap. It's getting kinda late too. I so have a ton of homework to do!"
