Week Seventeen: Friday
Who: Kin and Ita
Where: Starting in the kitchen and then off to find somewhere to swim!
When: Evening

If his mirror could speak back to him, he would really, really love for his reflection to say, "Calm the fuck down. It is just a girl!". Saying that out loud to himself was... Weird. Not normal. All because he wasn't much of the cursing type, unless it was needed. And how nervous he was, it was needed to the point his throat got tired; hopefully he wouldn't be able to speak after that.

The swim trunks he purchased during the week actually fit him to a perfect T. They weren't that long, stopped just a little above the knee, and they felt comfortable around his slim waist.

Yes, he literally stood in front of his mirror for two hours in nothing but those swim trunks. Trying to tell himself over and over again they looked fine. He could even get away with wearing a tank top with them, right? ... Maybe. It really all depended on Ita, since she was the teacher tonight.

Oh, look, here came that shudder of anxiety once again. The best thing to do was take in a deep breath, let it out, take in another deep breath, and do so till he was able to escape into his peaceful world. Meditating would be a great thing to look into when he had free time.

Before the sun set, Kin placed everything he needed in a duffel bag: beach towel, conditioning mouse for his hair, a pair of jeans, and an extra tank top ( if the one he was wearing got wet out of nowhere ). He had to double, no, triple check everything before heading out of his room and toward the kitchen. Could you believe he got lost almost twice because of his nerves? Yeah, they really weren't leaving him alone tonight. Hopefully the wine will help him get a little tipsy; he really did need that right about now. But if he remembered correctly - they weren't going to drink till after their lessons. Dammit.

Well, he made his way toward the kitchen ( finally), and let the bag rest on one of the counters. Allowing his eyes to wander in every direction before turning his full attention toward the doors. Only because the sound of feet walking down the hall grabbed him. Was it Ita? He really hoped it was. If she wore perfume, well, he'd have to get used to the smell and remember what it was like. Anyone walking could be.. anyone walking.

Ita was not nervous. First, she knew how to swim. And second, she hadn't realized that Kin was getting nervous. If he was nervous, she would have thought that this was more than a swimming lesson, and then she would have been nervous. But she got giggly nervous, so it wasn't likely than anyone would have noticed her nerves.

Earlier that day, she had prepared their picnic. First, there were the apricot and cucumber sandwiches (which she didn't put together just yet) accompanied by a broccoli and raisin salad. Then, she made the blueberry cheesecake bars for dessert. Putting everything in the fridge, she had gone back to her room to do some studying before she met up with Kin.

Just before sunset, she put on her bikini and pulled a pair of faded jean shorts over her bottoms. It was warm enough she didn't bother to pull on a t-shirt, though she did bring one, along with a towel, for after their swim. Slipping into her Birkes, she padded down to the kitchen with her picnic basket in hand.

Entering the kitchen, she smiled at Kin. No scent of perfume accompanied her entrance - perfume attracted bugs, which would be a problem when they went through the woods. Although, she might have had a slight fragrance of mint and green tea - the fragrance of her bath soap. "I just have to put together the sandwiches - didn't want them to get soggy before we ate. So..." rummaging through the fridge, she took out the salad, the wine, and the blueberry cheesecake bars, "if you could put those in the basket, I'll get the sandwiches together." Trusting that Kin could handle that, she grabbed the filling for the sandwiches and some nice multigrain bread. Spreading the cream cheese, she added the rest of the insides, and then put them in some sandwich-sized tupperware she owned.

Once everything was ready to go, she smiled at him, and grabbing the picnic basket, she headed out of the kitchen. "Ready to adventure? I know there are some really beautiful lakes and pools to swim in."

Oh, he smelled that mint and green tea. The green tea was obvious, but he didn't think that mint would bring the fragrance out even more. Thinking about green tea now, he should put some mint in it, might actually taste really good. Besides the honey or other herbs he loved to put in there every other morning. Did he have a cup of tea today? Of course not, he was way too nervous to even remember his little routine that he seem to develop when he came here.

The brightest smile Kin could ever give was given to her right as she entered the door. His heart, on the other hand, was pounding against his chest! If they hugged, she most likely would feel it. So, thankfully they didn't get all that up close and personal, yet. He'd love to give hugs. A big teddy bear is what he would love to be called ( minus the "big" part ). But with how shy he naturally gets, he might ruin the first hug, poke someone in the eye or elbow them in some weird way. The weirdest things do happen when you want something to be perfect.

She was going to make sandwiches for them? Oh, my. He right away thought what kind of sandwiches these would be. Would they be good? Wait... Of course they would be! But then again, he didn't eat that much outside of what Japan gave as an offering. Yeah, the fast food industries came in like a herd of bulls, but there were some things he has yet to allow his taste buds to savor.

It take him a few seconds of confusion with the basket, figuring out where this or that could really good. Organizing and him did not work out whatsoever. But he did nod to her and tell her he'll do it! Even though he had no idea how to make a picnic basket look like it came out of a painting. Somehow he did it, after several frustrated huffs and rests. Allowing her to get at it to put the sandwiches in. They did smell good, so they had to taste great, right?

He grabbed his bag and slug that over his shoulder, following her out of the kitchen, and keeping those amber eyes upon her the whole time, even when she spoke to him. "I am~!" he said, a little excitement in his voice. "Oh? Well, that's good to hear. I tried to find some places around here, but... My luck wasn't so great."

Ita really had no idea that he wanted a hug, or that his heart was beating so fast. If she had, she would have gladly given him a hug, and maybe a little kiss, too. But she had recognized his timidity and knew several shy people who did not enjoy hugging and other signs of affection unless it were a particularly emotional situation, so she refrained. She loved giving hugs, personally.

"Well, I haven't actually found any, but if we follow some of the streams, I'm sure they'll lead us to one. Plus, I kinda have a sense for that kind of thing," she giggled. She'd be a poor excuse for a water elemental if she didn't.

Once they got outside, Ita couldn't stop looking up at the stars and moon. She'd missed them in Philly - not nearly as bright as in Maine. Here, they were even brighter. Of course, all her looking everywhere but where she was walking, led to a number of stumbles, followed by giggled oopses. "I'm such a klutz," she admitted after the third time.

Finally, she found a stream, and farther down, she could sense even more water. Practically skipping over the uneven ground, she announced, "There's a pool down here." Pausing suddenly, she grinned mischievously. "Race ya!" With that, she took off. Not that her abilities lent themselves to speed in any way. Most of the supernaturals here could best her in any physical contest. But where there was water, she most likely had the upper hand.

Maybe once he got to know Ita, yeah, he would love to get a hug. Might take him awhile to reach out and give one of his own, but with time, it might just happen. Might being the very big word here.

Kin couldn't help but chuckle with her. Would it be wrong if he didn't? Not like he was thinking of what he should do or act. There were times where that happened, but then there were the delayed reaction which really made him look a little slow. And everyone knows the whole deal, if someone thinks you're slow, that sticks with you throughout the rest of your life. "Well, good. I don't really want to get lost in the woods if that is where we are heading, that is," he said, nudging her arm a little with his elbow. Yeah, he was bad with the funny, but if you look at it, he really wouldn't be able to get lose. His supernatural hearing and sight would easily help him find civilization in a matter of seconds.

That's where his attention went right when they got outside, the sky. This is also why he took astronomy, the stars told a beautiful tale. A new one being told each and every year. He hasn't been around all that long, but he has seen as least every story that the constellations had to tell. In his hometown, anyone could see the stars as clear as day, no bright lights to ruin the perfect scenery. Everything was perfect. As perfect as it could get.

He was off in his own little world with the sky, searching for this constellation or that, before hearing, yet also, feeling Ita stumble, his one hand shot out and grabbed her elbow gently. Which brought him a little too close for comfort, but all he was worried about was her not falling and getting hurt. A soft smile was given as well as a nod, understanding her completely. "It's okay, I'm the same way."

As they continued on with their walk, he stayed close, just to make sure she wouldn't stumble again or he might follow in her foot steps. He looked up, tuning out everything else for a second to hear the water splash in that dance it knew since it Earth was created. Kin smiled brightly and was about to say something, before she took off. Leaving him to stand there in mid mouth opening. Of course, he had the perfect advantage to beat her, even though he didn't want to use it, it was there. Like something you do repeatedly but try real hard not to do it, and still do it. That was how he was with running, after a second she took off. It was natural to go faster, be faster.

Ita cast him a sweet smile when he caught her arm like that. That was a very sweet gesture. She wasn't all that graceful, and while she did tend to lose her footing, she wasn't prone to actually hurting herself. And even if she did hurt herself, it didn't really damper her enthusiasm. Sure, it sucked, but once she got the bone set or whatever, she was just as bubbly as ever. She'd go down laughing, and after the appropriate medical attention, get up laughing just as freely. Smiling at his admission, she nodded. "It's cuz of the stars. Well, really, it's me. But I'm blaming the stars tonight cuz they're so pretty."

As far as racing him there, it wasn't about the competition at all. It was about the freedom of feeling the wind whip her hair out behind her, and the bubbles of laughter that seemed to just boil up from her belly. Even if air wasn't her element, it was pretty invigorating to feel the wind blowing around her. When Kin shot past her, she managed to gasp, "Hey! No fair!" But then she needed to concentrate on her breathing, and her footing, to get to the pool.

And boy, was it worth everything. It was a perfectly black mirror, reflecting the stars and moon without so much as a ripple. Stopping just at the edge of the trees, she gasped and set down the basket. Partially out of breath from running and partially from the scene before her, she breathed, "We're gonna swim in the stars..." Oh yes, hopeless romantic she was. Yes, indeed.

He didn't see this at all as a competition. He never saw anything as a race to win this or that. If he knew how to slow his speed down to human standard, he'd allow her to win. That might be a bit too nice, but he was like that. It showed when he grabbed her arm so she wouldn't go face down into the dirt, pebbles, and broken branches. The boy next door, that is what he was always called through school.

As he passed her, she probably heard his laughter echo around the trees. Even though he felt a little bad, it did feel good to have the wind breath against his body and whip his hair back as if he wasn't even moving. But as he stopped near the water, almost landing right in it, since he wasn't watching what he was doing. All his vision was on her when he sped by her. Both arms flailing like an anime character, before pulling his weight back and just allowing his whole body to land butt first onto the dirt. Oh, well. The jeans weren't new, and getting mud out of them would be easier than it looked.

Kin heard her coming and allowed his whole body to look like he was sitting there and relaxing and try to not show he literally fell down like a klutz. Though, maybe he should have, that would show her he was one as well. A little laugh would be shared between them both, poking fun at each other; it would be their own little thing. But of course, he thought of that too late, since she spoke about the water. To him, it looked like blood, but he knew if he stuck his hand into it, nothing but clear liquid would latch onto his skin. "Yes we are. If only it was a full moon and we were allowed out here, that would be even better." He replied. Hopeless romantic? Well, he clearly showed his little romantic side right then and there.

He was definitely sweet, and if he'd shown any inkling of an interest in her, Ita might have made the first move, seeing as how shy he seemed. She'd done that before - no reason to let timidity get in the way. It would be a shame to miss out on a good time with a nice guy because of a bit of timidity.

Having excellent hearing, she did notice the thump of Kin as he landed unceremoniously, but when she got there, she figured he had just sat down rather heavily. Flopping down next to him, she leaned back and smiled up at the sky. "Mmm. It's almost full? So food after the swimming?" she asked, looking over at him.

Not really waiting for an answer, she stood up and wriggled out of her shorts - careful not to lose her bikini bottom. That would have been embarrassing. Well, for Kin. She would have just giggled. Wading into the water, Ita cocked her head to the side. "Coming in? The water's not so bad."

Once Ita got to know Kin a bit better, and they hung out more, she'd be able to tell he had a little crush on her. Everything would be bumped into, this or that will slip out of his hands, he'll even stumble with words or stutter them. Being shy took a great be toll on his personality. Getting rid of it would be great, but who out there ever got rid of shyness?

He was glancing at the water while rubbing at his jeans, sweaty palms wasn't a lovely site with how hot it was, even if it was this dark out. When was this weather going to end? He was starting to like fall a lot more than summer.

"That sounds good. Having cramps while we swim would be bad, with it being my first lesson and all," he replied, chuckling softly as he turned his head to glance at her. But all he saw were legs in his view. As he looked up, those amber eyes went wide. She was wearing a swim suit under that, he knew that, but the other part of his body was imagining other things. He was a man.

Oh, my goodness, he thought, trying to stand up and fumble with his jeans. Hopefully she could see him nodding because speaking right now might come out in a squeak, as if someone kicked him right in the balls. Why was that? Did it hurt that much? He never experienced something like that and in the near future, he didn't want it to happen.

Folding his jeans like a good boy, and then taking his tank top off to lay it with them, Kin slowly made his way into the water. Really expecting it to be ice cold, body tensing to prove what his brain was thinking, but as he got in about waist high, his whole body relaxed rather quickly. "Wow, it really isn't." He was looking around as if the water was that amazing.

While it might have been embarrassing for Kin to stutter and stumble like that, Ita would think it rather endearing. Knowing that he might be embarrassed, though, she would keep her amused giggling to herself - no reason to make him feel more self-conscious.

"Yes, it would. Really, though, cramps are more for competitive swimming. They don't usually happen for just general kind of splashing around. I mean, be careful anyway, but I don't think we'd have to worry." Too focused on not losing her bikini bottom, and hence fulfilling his fantasy, she didn't notice the look he gave her.

Smiling at him, she nodded. "Nope, really nice. Though, I'm used to like Arctic water, being from New England. I don't mind cold water." Moving over to him, she said, "Ok, we're gonna start with floating. If you can float, you can swim. So, just lay back. I'm gonna have my arms right under you, so you won't sink. Just like you're lying down on a bed - relax..." She made sure her voice was calm and soothing - that seemed to help a bit. Though, for some people, no amount of calm and soothing did the trick.

Hearing what Ita said made him feel a tiny bit stupid. Of course, the people who swim for competitive reasons would get cramps, why didn't he think of something like that? Oh, right, he doesn't get anywhere near a pool unless it is a shallow end and he can just float there. He made a face, mostly at himself, and not because the water was somewhat cold. Goosebumps were there but he was doing his best to ignore them and not rub at his arms like anyone would in a pool. Be strong!

He didn't even know what to say that. The face he made could be read either way. He understood and corrected himself or he felt stupid and might try to keep his mouth shut when he thought that this was what happened. Wonder what way Ita would see it?

"Really?" He asked, blinking several times. Slowly he allowed himself to let the water envelope his whole body, get used to the water, and hope the shuddering, as well as the goosebumps will disappear. The tips of his hair got wet which made his whole body do a violent shiver when he brought his body back up. All because she was coming over to him. With his body tensing already, would it be hard for him to float as if he was a piece of wood? Wouldn't his body sink? Folklore always said, "vampires sink when in the water." But they also said they can't cross a stream. Who in their right mind made that up?

But Kin was trying to relax, ignore the shivering and shaking, and lay back as if the water was a bed. He kept looking back, as if the water would disappear, or something would eat him if he did this. She said her arms were going to be underneath him while he did this. So why wasn't he calming down? Taking in a deep breath, trying to really, really think calm, he stretched out his arms a little as he tried to float there.

Don't panic, don't panic, stay calm, don't panic.

The water washing by his ear was making every single sound become obscured. He wanted to freak right then and there. It was in his eyes!

To be honest, Ita was having a hard time reading him. The expression on his face seemed to change rather rapidly, and she was herself used to be pretty open with her feelings so Kin's more restrained personality was difficult for her to understand. Since he wasn't running away, everything was ok, right?

She noticed him shiver and couldn't help but giggle. "Cold? See, it doesn't bother me, so it feels fine to me. Maybe it's cold to you, though..." She did have a different comfort zone than most people - although that could have been the Maine-iac in her, more than the water elemental.

"It's ok," Ita kept repeating as he kept looking back. He was really nervous she quickly realized. Soon it became evident how nervous when he lay back fully and the water swirled around his head. His reaction ended up getting water in his eyes, and Ita quickly brought him up, using the water's force to help her - she wasn't all that strong. "You're ok, you're ok..." she soothed, reaching up and wiping the water out of his eyes. She could have used her abilities to do it, but she felt the touch might be calming to him. Of course, had she thought more seriously about it, perhaps being so shy it would only freak him out more.

"The only thing I'm used to is the swimming pool at the high school and college. Those were always warmed up right when you got into the room. You know how indoor pools are like." Kin laughed softly, still rubbing at his arms to get the goosebumps to disappear. How long was this going to take? He was starting to get a bit frustrated, but doing his best to not show it.

He was thankful that she actually was a water elemental. If she wasn't, they'd be in some kind of pool, and doing all of this in the shallow part. Only because he was that much of scaredy cat when it came to water.

Everything was fine. At least he thought deep down everything was fine. He didn't really know how he looked after awhile, and really didn't want to know. The heat was raising throughout his body, that was what he could feel, but whatever else was going on was oblivious to his own senses. What he saw through her was as clear as day. He was freaking out.

And when the water finally went past his eyes, that was when he started to flail, causing water to splash right away before his whole body went upward, and he was standing perfectly still. Kin was still somewhat freaking out, flapping at the water like a dying fish, but keeping himself still and trying to keep his eyes closed. That always did seem to help him get his breathing back in order.

That was when he finally realized someone else was with him. In a moment of pure panic, you only think about yourself, and getting yourself to safety before giving yourself a heart attack. Her soothing touches were actually calming him down, and no, he actually didn't freak out. One moment he was panting heavily, the next, he was perfectly fine; like nothing happened. "Heh, sorry about that.." Kin slowly blinked his eyes open while chuckling lightly. He felt silly.

"Blech," she said as she made a face. "I don't like pools cuz they're so unnatural. And very, chemical-y. It's not pleasant for me." Though, she knew it was pleasant for most other people.

The splashing didn't bother her in the least. A lot of people would have had trouble trying to shield themselves and help him at the same time, but Ita didn't even flinch at the water in her eyes. She didn't need to - it certainly didn't bother her.

A bit surprised at how quickly he calmed down, she looked a bit startled, and then chuckled. "It's ok. I mean, I can tell you as many times as I want that it's practically impossible to drown with me around, but your body won't necessarily believe me. Now, I know it sounds silly, but you are going to get wet, ok? You started to freak out when your head got in the water, but that's ok. You won't go under, promise. I won't let it happen." And that was true. She could convince the water to support his weight almost as if it were solid. "Now, let's try again." And with that, she held out her arms again.

Kin took in a deep even breath, before nodding at what Ita was saying. Of course his body would react to anything that it didn't like, and drowning would be one of them. Makes him wonder how people can get away with drowning when their body wants to live? Hell, any way of suicide. He might read up on that when he had free time. Wanting to know something desperately will get done sooner or later.

"All right. I can do this." He kept repeating the 'I can do this' over and over again, as he slowly moved his body to lay back and do the whole floating thing once again. But as before, he kept looking behind him as if the water will jump at him and try to drown him itself. Funny thought, but it kept attacking his train of thought.

He looked to her as he bend back, not really allowing his legs to go up, till after saying, "Are you sure?" Being reassured, and doing it repeatedly, seemed to help calm him down. But before she could even say anything, he brought his legs up, knowing her hands were underneath him, but still flapping his arms a little in the water to get himself straightened out.

It was getting worse with his body shuddering violently.

The look upon his face was determination. He was doing his best to ignore the shakes, the whisper of the water against his ears - even if he tried to keep his head up. But doing that caused his balance with the floating to falter a little. Why was this so hard?

Smiling softly at his words of determination, she willed him a successful attempt. Not that it would actually do anything other than that she was mentally giving him her support. "It's ok; you can do this," she assured him.

A bit delayed to his question, she nodded her head, even though he was already laying back. It was then that she noticed him shivering. Goodness! The poor guy. No wonder he was struggling with the floating. It was probably so hard because he was freezing. Although fear was usually a pretty good block for doing something successfully.

She let him float for a bit with her assistance, but really, she was concerned about his shivering, and after a moment, helped him to his feet again. "Let's take a break, shall we? I'm sure you don't want me going all puddly on you." With that, she attempted to take his hand and lead him out of the water. She had every intention of snuggling up to him on shore to give him her body heat. Hey, she'd totally seen that in the movies!

Kin was really trying to ignore the shaking, as well as trying to make it stop completely. Yeah, it wasn’t working, but he wasn’t going to give up. While he floated there, it slowly became worse, not even realizing this was happening of course, his eyes were upon the sky, watching the star twinkle.

Till everything went dizzy and he was standing straight. What just happened? Blinking fast, getting his balance back to perfect – thankfully the water was there and not solid ground, he was able to figure out she was the one who did this. Oh, okay, guess the swim lesson for tonight was over? He felt kind of bad then. He didn’t really mean to be so horrible at it. If only he could do this out in the sun. If only…

Of course he allowed her to take his hand. With the whole world doing a tiny half-flip, he was going to need help to get out of the water. Was it bad that he totally forgot what she brought with him? Something to warm him up was all he could think about; even her body heat will do at this point. Would his towel work? Possibly. But relay on the human body first before anything else.

“You mean… If you’re in the water for longer, that would happen?” He was mildly curious now. Allowing his thoughts to distract him with that question and knowing the answer would be amazing. So amazing, he wouldn’t care if he was in the water if she did that! But the shivering won this round; for now. Kin instantly grabbed for the towel as they got to land. Wrapping it around him before plopping down, not even thinking of she brought a blanket for them to rest on and not get their wet bottoms dirty. See, right here, showed him how cold he was. “There is something warm to drink, right?” he asked then, looking to the basket with wide eyes, and his body shaking. The wine never crossed his mind – it was somewhere in the back there, waiting for Ita to say it, and then he’ll remember, wanting some with wide open arms.

Ita was about to lay down the blanket she'd brought when he flopped on the ground. Not wanting to get her own bottom wet, she laid it down right next to him. "You can sit on this. Might be warmer than the ground," she suggested. At his question, she nodded. "It's my natural state when I'm wet, but I've learned to fight it for a period of time so I can swim with my human friends and such. I even went surfing a bit ago. It was cool, but I have to take more lessons if I want to be able to do it well at all."

Nodding at the question about the drink, she explained, "Well, it's not warm so much, but wine does tend to warm a person's insides, right? Well, at least it does mine," she added with a giggle. Reaching into the basket, she pulled out two wine glasses and a bottle of nice red wine. Pouring them each a glass, she handed him one, and then scooted over so she could rest her head on his chest and snuggle up to him. It was very comfortable, and she hoped it gave him enough body heat. She didn't want to scare him by climbing into his lap just yet.

Oh, right, the blanket. Kin stared at the thing as if it was something alien, before moving his butt over and not wanting to wipe at whatever was clinging to it till he dried. The towel around him had to tighten. When he moved, it slipped just a little – causing a chill to go through him and make a sound escape from his lips. Thankfully it wasn’t that loud. They weren’t in the water anyone, but he was still acting like it was going to bite him. Give him some alcohol and it will all go away.

“You had human friends?” he asked then, looking to her with a soft smile. There was a time he wished he could be with his parents. Or even the friends he had before everything in his life went for the tragic change. “Did they know you were a water elemental?” Wait, didn’t she just say she was trying to keep her form around her human friends? He was cold. Blame it all on that.

When hearing Ita say something about the wine, he turned a bit too quickly toward the basket – now remembering what was in there. “Oh, yeah, I forgot you even had that.” You had to laugh at that, which, he did. It was funny how he forgot something that he remembered putting in the basket himself; and that was when, an hour ago? He took the glass with gentle hands, the shaking finally disappearing and allowing him to breathe easily. Taking in those deep breaths and trying to think calmly was doing its job. Go him! “Thank you.” Kin smiled brightly, before bringing the rim of the glass to his lips, and loving the first sip of the drink. The liquid felt wonderful going down his throat- almost warming him instantly!

And he didn’t really mind her coming in as close as she was. His arms were still kind of wrapped in the towel, hands sticking out – only to hold the cup. He did feel a little bad that he couldn’t bring one arm out and wrap it around her shoulders, though he’d do the whole yawn and bring his arms up as if he was stretching, and then allow one to go around her. With her body this close, his thoughts running amuck, she was keeping him warm.

"Uh huh. I grew up with humans, really. Aside from my parents." Shaking her head vigorously, she said, "Oh no. My parents were very serious that I never tell anyone. When I was little I used to be angry about it, but then I realized how dangerous it would have been. I saw some pretty scary movies, like Splash, where they do mean things to this mermaid. I mean, it's not a horror movie, except to someone like me, I think." She remembered how she'd cried and cried after watching that movie, and how her father had had to come and tuck her in every night for a long time before she could go to sleep. But even as a child her fearless nature had kept her from becoming paranoid about such things. She just understood her parents reasons better.

Smiling, Ita nodded. "Yep, a night-time picnic requires wine." Smiling at his thanks, she sipped at her own glass. Nuzzling into his chest, she also wished he could put his arm around her. Would make it easier to snuggle.

Figuring that Kin needed to warm up before she brought out the cold dishes she'd made for the picnic, Ita was content to sip wine and cuddle with him. But eventually, she would need to attend to her stomach.

Remembering his old friends made him smile. Totally forgetting he was cold, almost made himself drown (not really) but close enough to doing it – even if Ita wouldn’t allow it. Freaking out like that for the first time was normal. Keep telling yourself that and things will be a-okay in the future.

It was kind of sad how he had no idea what she was talking about. The movie itself was showed in Japan, like every other movie that was ever made in the U.S. But he never sat down and watched a mermaid movie. To him, it sounded like a chick flick, something he really, really wouldn’t get into it. Although, there were those Japanese dramas his Mother and Grandmother used to watch. Every day after school, he had to sit there, work on his homework while listening to the two women in his life gossip about their favorite show.

Kin frowned softly, at the rest of what she was saying. And with her wanting his arm around her, well, she was getting her wish. He was able to move one arm, transferring the glass to his other hand, and skillfully moving that free one around her waist; even the towel moved around her too. “I never saw that movie,” he said, finally admitting to it, and not keeping it to himself. “But I might sit down and see what you mean.” He wanted to see what made her cry. There was a general idea of the whole concept; he just had to see it for himself.

And with everything being almost romantic; a little nervousness added to it, Kin felt his stomach tense, and then finally growl. When it does that, it wants food. Begging for substance only he could provide. He had to laugh – it was funny how it happened out of nowhere. “I guess after all that, my stomach still wants food.”

Well, not everyone freaked out quite that much, but a lot of people did freak out. Especially older people - after being so scared for so long, it was no wonder.

The way he slipped his arm around her, towel and all, made her sigh a bit, and she nuzzled into him some more. Shivering, she said, "It's horrible. I mean, it's a beautiful movie in the end, and it's got Tom Hanks in it, but it's scary for people who are different." She even sounded a bit scared, her usually bubbly nature toned down a bit, as if toning down her energy could make her less threatening.

At the growl and the request, she chuckled, "Well, that I can remedy!" Sitting up, she reached into the picnic basket and drew out the food, handing him his wrap and then his share of the broccoli salad and a fork. Once he seemed settled, she took care of her own food. Happily munching, she rested her head on his chest again. After a moment, she chuckled. "I can hear you crunching," she said softly before bursting into giggles.

Tom Hanks? That name rang a bell. But where from? Not the movie she was talking about, since he never seen it or heard of it. Was it in other movies? He couldn't place the face, the name sounded familiar, only problem was.. where?

Oh, well. It will appear out of nowhere when he least expects it. Would be hilarious if it came to him in the middle of the class, and has that 'ah, hah!' moment. So many have them at odd periods in their life. Happens to him way too often.

But for now, Kin will set aside that nagging thought and go back to rubbing his hand along her waist gently. Yeah, skin was touching skin, but it wasn't like - oh, my god, we're touching! Must freak out and have little teenage giggle fits. He was feeling a little weird, since he was actually touching her, and not keeping to himself. Was it actually changing? Being more social? Being more... touchy? This moment needed someone to gasp. It was so amazing.

His stomach had to ruin it, of course. Evil organ. Though there was food, so after said food was consumed, he'll be right as rain and then they might be able to go back to the cuddle session? He hoped. For the first time in a long time he was around a girl, who didn't freak out, as well as didn't run from him.

"Thank you," he said, smiling brightly when taking the food from Ita happily. He was off in his own little world with eating, watching the water dance about in its own little rhythm, before hearing what the other said, and instantly stopping his crunching to let out a light chuckle. Laughing too hard might cause choking. "I'm sorry. I will do my best to slowly crunch." Which he tried to do, but failed - it only made him laugh out loud now.

The hand on her waist felt nice, though she couldn't help but smile a bit from her ticklish nature. It was nice though - the gentle stroking. Very sweet. Not demanding anything at all. Just her presence.

Ita didn't mind the demand for food. She would have been disappointed if he'd not asked for it eventually. She loved cooking for people, especially people she liked. And really, who would run from such a sweet guy? So he was a bit shy - that wasn't scary. It was sweet.

His words vibrating in his chest only made her giggle more, and his promise to crunch more slowly kept her giggling. And when he finally burst out laughing, she couldn't contain herself anymore and held her stomach as she laughed. Gasping for breath, she laughed, "Ow, it hurts, it hurts..." as her stomach muscles ached from the laughing. But it was good to laugh like that.

It's been months, maybe years, since he laughed like this. He had to bring his hand up and cover his mouth as he tried to calm himself to swallow what was in his mouth, and when he was able to; the laughter just started up again. His stomach muscles and ribs were really hurting, but he wasn't going to make it known, till she said something.

All he could really do was nod and keep laughing. But slowly, Kin was starting to calm himself. Doing the breathing exercises people seem to use (It really does help when you're laughing too much or panting from doing a lot of workout).

Little chuckles here and there slipped out, just wasn't as bad as before. Really wouldn't surprise him if someone out there heard them. Oh, well. They were having fun. And deep down, he loved laughing. Ita was the first to really get him rolling like that. She was special!

"Wow. I never laughed like that in a really, really long time," he said, still chuckling. The food within his hand was picked at, wishing he could take another bite, but something else distracted him entirely. Vampires didn't need to eat human food - call it an added bonus. A bonus he was really liking lately.

The more Kin laughed, the more Ita did, gasping for breath. He may not have needed to breathe, but the young elemental did, and she was starting to feel lightheaded, aside from her hurting gut. "Stop laughing!" she gasped between bouts of laughter.

Finally, the laugh attack seemed to calm for both of them, and the blond could only rub her belly to try and ease the ache. Of course Ita could get him going - she seemed to have that special gift that drew a smile from nearly everyone. She could get them to smile by her playful antics or her kind nature - and if they were smiling, who cared if they were laughing at her. If she laughed, too, they were laughing with her, so there.

Grinning, Ita leaned up and kissed his cheek lightly. "Well, I'm glad you did tonight. It's good to laugh." Settling back down, she rested her head on his chest again, and began to eat her meal again. She couldn't help but to giggle now and then, thinking about how he'd start crunching again - which had started the whole laugh attack in the first place. Sipping at her wine kept the giggles down, though. Although, it made her drink it much faster than usual. Now Kin would see what a lightweight she really was. Hehe.

Kin had to bring his one hand up, after putting things down upon the blanket, and hope covering his mouth would help stop the laughter between the two of them. Even though he was still smiling as wide as ever behind his palm. His mouth was going to hurt tomorrow, but in the best way ever. There might be even more smiles from this day forth. Hell, he might even be more social because Ita was helping him mentally ( even physically ).

Why did he stay indoors for all these years?

The meal before him was hard to pick at, he felt a little bad, but laughing distracted him to the point his appetite quickly diminished. He set the food down, might pick at it later, for now, he'll stay close to Ita and keep himself warm.

Wait... He was already warm. Was it because of the wine, the meal, or because of the laughter? It might be all three of them combined. Oh, good, he had comfort food now! Hopefully Ita wouldn't mind that it was called that.

And yes, he noticed how much of a lightweight she was. It made him smile and sip at his wine. From seeing so many women tipsy, Kin did the nicest thing and wrap his arm around her waist once again. This time his fingers weren't wet or cold. Keeping her this close would help her from swaying when the alcohol fully hit, as well as falling all over the place. It would be silly, but bad if she got dirty. "Yes it is," he replied, smiling toward her, before looking back out toward the lake.

Now that reminded him.. What time was it?

Ita was fairly certain her ribs would hurt tomorrow, but she didn't care. The young vampire seemed to be enjoying himself, and she was certainly enjoying herself. Had she known how much of a good effect she was having on him, she would have cared even less. She lived to make people happy, and she really liked Kin. Added bonus.

Ita would perhaps sway a bit when she got to her feet, and would be more prone to falling down, but the truest sign of her bubbliness would be incessant giggling. Then again, perhaps that wasn't such a good indicator considering her naturally effervescent personality.

In any case, she was seated, his hand was wrapped around her waist, and her head rested nicely on his chest. Looking up when he spoke, she met his eyes and giggled a bit, then sighed as she looked out on the lake with him. She could totally have fallen asleep like this. Not bad for her, but definitely detrimental to him. Truth be told, she had no idea what time it was, and she didn't care. She had a watch, though, if he really needed to know.

Kin was enjoying himself. There were times where he kept thinking about the time. It couldn't be that terribly late. If it was, and the sun was slowly starting to rise, then yeah, there would be a lot of problems right there. But for right now, he couldn't really sense the sun. Odd thing that vampires have. They knew when it was soon to be sunrise. Was it the smell of nature? Or was something completely else.

And it was hard to tell when someone was drunk if they giggled a lot. If they swayed a bit and acted silly, then of course. But Kin never seen her get drunk before. So, the first time might be a little awkward and embarrassing. Well, not really, but that is how he'll look at everything.

He kept sipping at his drink, watching the lake and how the moon danced upon the surface. The full moon was almost upon. Monday, right? He couldn't quite remember, since it wasn't a big deal for him. Staying indoors, yes. But the whole shifting; no.

The time was starting to bug him again.

The thought appeared randomly and made his eyebrows furrow. He looked down to Ita and smiled softly. "Hey, do you know what time it is? I don't have a watch on me." Which was true. Sometimes boys did the whole, "what time is it?" to get closer to the girl. They did such weird things... Kin really had a watch. It was in the school, in his room, and on his desk next to his computer.

To be honest, the only one who could be awkward and embarrassed would be Ita. She was the one in danger of making a drunken fool of herself. It wasn't that she was out to get drunk, but being such a lightweight made it hard to drink anything without getting a bit tipsy.

As Kin looked out on the water, Ita managed to keep the giggles under control. Sighing, the elemental snuggled into her companion, feeling the warm drowsiness of a good wine washing over her. She wouldn't fall asleep. She doubted it, anyway.

"Mmm?" she murmured at his question. She was so comfortable, she was really loath to move at all. After a moment, she shifted to look at her watch, and then held it up to him to see. The watch had glow in the dark hands, and was, of course, waterproof.

It still amazed him how some were lightweights to drinking, and it took more than a couple of drinks to get someone tipsy. Was it the way their bodies were built? If he could, he'd pay more attention in his science classes during high school - maybe there he would have known the answer. Though, Kin couldn't talk much. He was a semi-lightweight when it came to hard liquor. But now that he was the walking dead, it took more than several bottles of vodka to get him wobbling, laughing like a nutcase, and probably doing something stupid he'll regret in the morning.

Ita was being the cutest little creature in the world right now! If he wasn't so closed in on himself ( or drunk ), he'd smother her to his chest and smile like an idiot with his first love. Not that he was in love with her. Maybe a slight crush. He just didn't notice.

The vampire felt a bit bad that he had her move. He felt she was comfortable against him, and so was he. But knowing the dark, it played its own little tricks on the unsuspecting, and easily made time disappear with a blink of an eye.

A little smile was given to her as he looked at the watch, taking her wrist into his hand to keep her still as the glow made his eyes adjust as if he was walking into a bright room. Watches like that still fascinated him to this very day. "We should probably start to head back and get some rest." Kin let her wrist go, gently. Looking down to her and hoping she wouldn't mind going back toward the school.

Ita was adorable. It wasn't something she aimed for, but she did seem to have a propensity for being cute. And she definitely would have enjoyed a good cuddle, but she was pretty tipsy right now and would have fallen asleep most likely if she had stayed put.

"Ok," she smiled, and got to her feet carefully. It was a bit difficult to navigate moving, and she kept her arms out for balance as she moved around picking up the things she had brought for the picnic, occasional giggles bubbling up. It was fun to be a bit tipsy.

He felt a bit bad ending this fun night. Well, if you call almost freaking out and drowning himself fun. Oh, well. Maybe next time things will go better. Though, he might practice in the pool more often after this.

As he stood up, he held his hand out to her if she needed any help. The wine didn't hit him at all. It was like he drank great juice.

Whatever he had with him was packed, grabbing his jeans and putting those on quickly. The shirt could be put on last. His wet towel was being folded against his stomach and jeans. He didn't really care of that got wet. They dried faster than the mateiral his shirt was made out of. Hearing her giggle every so often had Kin looking at her and chuckling himself. And it wasn't because he was tipsy. She brought that out in him.

"Got everything packed?" he asked then, grabbing the bag he brought with him and quickly shoving his towel in, before taking his shirt.

Kin put his shirt one, looking at her while he stopped in mid-pullover. His eyes the only thing picking through the shirt. But behind the fabric, he was smiling as wide as his mouth could.

He looked down then to get the shirt fully on himself, wiggling his body for no reason at all - it was an odd little habit of his ( like so many others were ). "That sounds like a great idea," he replied, looking to her once again as a hand ran through his hair. Did it look weird? He almost felt like finding a mirror to make it look the way it did. Though all that styling that was needed to be put into it would take forever. Thank god he didn't put any hair product in it.

And as he was about to get ready to hike back toward the school, Kin held his hand out for her's, wiggling his fingers a little to signal he wanted her hand. Hopefully she took it. Not like he thought she would, but there was a tiny lingering thought that she might not.

Smiling down at his hand, she took it in hers, and giggled a bit. It made her happy to hold his hand. And really, she didn't notice anything weird about his hair or anything else. She liked him exactly as he was.

As they walked back to the school, she occasionally hummed a snatch of an unrecognizable tune, or giggled for no apparent reason. But for the most part, she kept her feet steady.

Still amazed at how tipsy she got so quickly, questions about what she was kept surfacing, but he pushed them and waited for a perfect time to ask her. Right now really wouldn't be, since she was a little lightheaded on the wine, wishing he was, though, he was a little scared of what might happen if he was. The temptation of flesh before his eyes, not having it for so long; that was torture.

He kept being a male behind a shield as tightly as he could.

Giving her little smiles here and there as they made it back to the school. Wanting to walk her to her dorm room, but her giggles, that might rouse the guards. Plus, he wasn't that great at sneaking around just quite yet. "Well, this is where we split. I had fun, Ita. Even if it looked like I wasn't." Kin chuckled with a lighthearted smile. And surprised even him, he leaned in and pressed a soft chaste kiss upon her cheek.

With a final wave, he went toward his dorm, and then to his room. That smile never leaving his lips as his thoughts started to wander.
