Week 17: Friday Evening
Who: Xander and Evelyn
Where: Music Club meeting room after the club, then maybe Kat’s party bar
When: Friday night after the club

For the most part, Xander was fully convinced that most ‘clubs’ were a waste of time. Sure, they gave you extra credit but what did they really do for you in the long run? Not a whole lot, unless you really were planning on going pro in one of the sports clubs, or even the dance club. He would even say the same about the music club, except, of course, the fact he had gone pro in the field would’ve turned his own argument against him.

But even against his better nature, he found that he did enjoy the club quite a bit. There was quite a bit of talent within its membership. Even a few names that he recognized from the game. Still amused him a little bit, that Ada Crowe was at the school, one of those poor victims of an out of control were creature. Her music had helped to inspire his own band’s particular music setup as well. That she was in the club as well, was just another bonus that it had in his mind. After all, if you were going to learn, you might as well learn from someone who was quite successful, right?

Then, there was the view. Even if he wasn’t an Incubus, one couldn’t argue against the view. Some of the best looking girls in the school were musicians of some stripe, it would seem. And that was something that he wasn’t ever going to argue against. In fact, it was one good argument for just continuing his membership in the club. The eye candy was enough to keep him smiling for the entire night afterwards. Although, that particular night he had other plans for ‘eye candy’. A party in a bar, after all, was always good for finding some woman to seduce. Even if it was that loud mouthed Kat who was throwing it. He really needed to ask them to keep it down next door, or at least move the bed so it wasn’t constantly slamming into his wall while they were doing each other.

But, he stayed a little while after the music club had ended. He had found a niche while they were all goofing off. One that his mind had focused on. So, even while the others were getting up and leaving, the demon settled himself into a corner with his guitar and began to play it. He had gotten a tune in his head during the practice, and he was trying to figure out how to pull it off, or at the very least getting it out into the open, and the hell out of his head where it would be stuck all night otherwise. And that got to be even more annoying than anything else. So focused on it, was he, that he didn’t even noticed that not everyone had left just yet.

There are some things that are just too hard to resist.

For Lyn, music was one of those things. She liked it in a variety of shades, and it had gotten her through some of the more difficult times of her life. She had the evidence in folders and recorded with various pieces of rudimentary equipment. She wasn't a professional and she didn't have a band. But she was talented, her compositions holding such complexity that it was surprising at her young age. And as she had grown, so had her skill.

She'd been writing a new piece, worked on it for quite a number of hours, and spent most of her time allowed in the club refining it. It was just as the others were breaking up that she sat at the piano, hitting a couple of seemingly random keys to double check the notes, playing them through in her head.

After she was satisifed, she scribbled the appopriate note and then sat back, satisfied. At least for the moment. She was used to being caught up in her own work. There was something transforming about music. Mesmorizing. After she shuffled her papers in order, she noted that once more, everyone else had filtered out.

Well, at least one other person was still there. The new boy. She hadn't exactly met him, though she'd seen him. Heard a few things here and there. Demon. It was a little strange to think of. Demons were a band of creature she wasn't sure she could ever get used to in the world she now moved within. But not all was woodland spirits, elves, and faeries. Vampires, Sirens, and demons also roamed the earth.

She gathered up her papers and stood up. She could be afraid of the unknown or she could at the very least look this particular unknown in the face. Lyn stopped just in front of him, taking note of the guitar. "You're Xander? I missed the last few meetings, so I missed your introduction. I'm Evelyn." She extended her hand with a slight smile.

Oh, he had noticed her when she had joined the club alright. Then again, he was a young man and every attractive woman was something he tended to notice when they entered the room. But, he hadn’t paid her much attention during the club. He had his own thoughts in his head about what was going on with the world, and notes and combinations of several instruments moving commanding his attention. It wasn’t something many people saw in him, but it was there at times.

It was the drawback, at times, to being a musician. Especially one who knew how to write music, and actually performed it. Sometimes you got a song stuck in your head, and life just wouldn’t ever go back to normal until you at least tried hard to put it into writing and into sound. He had half a song already, and had spent as much time as the club, and his classes, would allow him to work on it. Of course, that was the part where things got frustrating. One knew where they wanted to go.. just not how to get there.

He hadn’t noticed that she had stayed behind, however. Nor that she had started walking over toward him. When she did stop there, however, he blinked once and glanced up toward her. Of course, the advantage of having someone stand in front you while your eyes were down on a guitar in your lap, as well as being seated, lent itself to an excellent view when your gaze went up to meet theirs. And Xander definitely let himself enjoy that particular view.

He lifted his hand up to take hers though, even as he gave her a soft smile. “Xander Wilson, yes. Pleasure to meet you, Evelyn. And yeah, only been here a couple of weeks.. but I do have to say that the school seems to be every bit as amazing as I was told it would be. Been here long?”

"Long enough," she smiled, flashing white teeth. "Or in common terms -- just a few months." She grinned after she shook his hand and invited herself to sit down next to him, her normally friendly attitude taking over despite her inner thoughts of caution. "But I like it so far. It's definitely interesting."

Lyn looked around the classroom, instruments neatly staked and set away, and various notes on the chalkboard. "It is very different. Nothing like I expected, but then again, it's everything I wanted. Back home, I don't really get quite the same exposure." Then it occurred to her what 'home' must be for him?

However, curiousity got the better of her as she tilted her head back to look at him. "What is it that brought you here? It seems like everyone has a story." He may be a demon but it didn't seem like he would bite. At least he hadn't that she had seen thus far. Besides, she felt more or less safe here, which enboldened her, "Was there something you were looking to learn?"

He laughed at that and shrugged his shoulders ever so slightly. “Well, that just makes you the old woman of the place then. At least for the most part, the person here the longest that I’ve met so far. Except for this one nymph that ran away from the school the week after we went surfing. I swear, that was enough to give a guy a complex.” Xander smirked a bit to himself as he thought back about and shook his head again. “Well, I do plan on being here a couple of years myself, I think. I think that’s how long they prefer it.”

He glanced around the room as well and he nodded his head once. “Quite different than what I’m used to as well. Least, recently. Knew a lot of others like me over the years, but never sat in one place where being human was the minority. Used to the other way around. Been fun so far though. Everyone’s so friendly here. Especially the women.” And the demon winked once at her as he said that, before she asked her next question, and that grin only returned full force.

Glancing back toward the instruments on the wall, he said, “My parents went here themselves. They figured it was about time I came here myself to get a better grip on my powers, and figure out what new ones I might be developing as well. And it is definitely good for that. Even if the rules chafe at the mind sometimes. But, its been good so far.”

He then gave her that soft grin again as he glanced back toward her. “What brought you here? And why didn’t you get the same exposure at home? Not that I even know what you are.. I’m an Incubus by the way.”

"Really? You must not have met many people," Evelyn grinned again, feeling herself surprisingly not so uncomfortable around the unusual young man. "But then again, I can't really talk. I've seen a lot of the others around, at parties and things, but I haven't gotten to know them all really."

Lyn nodded a bit, "I'm ...well, I'm half-fae. My father is human, an earth mage. But my mother died when I was very young. So I didn't really get to know about that part of my heritage until I was older." She shrugged then, "I decided to come here so I could learn to control my other abilities. Or at least understand them better."

She blinked then, her eyes widening slightly. Not just a demon? She knew full well about demons, but for some reason it never occurred to her that there truly were different kinds. A demon was a demon, right? Vampires were vampires. "An incubus? As in the type that comes to steal away souls while human sleep?" She chuckled a bit, "Feeding off their lustful menance?" He could be joking with her after all.

“Oh, I’ve met lots of people.” Xander said with a chuckle and a shrug of his shoulders as he gave her a faint smirk. “It just seems that most of those I’ve met are new arrivals as well. Guess its like the freshman class back in college. All the new kids getting together ‘cause the older ones are too cool. Or some sorta bs like that.” He hmmed a bit as he regarded her for another moment.

“Half human.. half fae. Interesting mix. But I don’t know too much about Fae, don’t even know how they taste.” He gave her a grin at that before he glanced back at the room as a whole for a moment. “Yes, an incubus. While I prefer my.. uhm.. feeding partners, yeah, that’s a good word, really. Feeding partners. Ha.” He couldn’t help but laugh at that as he shook his head. “Yes, that’s what the lore says. We steal the souls of the sleeping and lustful.”

“Only half right I’m afraid. I do feed off emotions like lust and desire.. but I don’t take souls. And I do prefer that my lustful companions be awake when I’m feeding off them. Much more fun that way, don’t you think?” He glanced back at her and looked her over once, before he went back to smiling at her, as his eyes rested upon hers. “Its really not as much fun when your dinner date is asleep on you. Far far more enjoyable to see if you can get them to pass out. Or you not into that kinda thing?”

Tasted? Did he mean to say that? For some reason, she thinks he did. Lyn shifted slightly. As he explained himself and how the lores were only partially correct, she nodded her head. "That's what I'm finding is true of a lot of things," she admited.

"Fae...Faeries, they're nature beings." She held up her hand and looked at it. "I guess some things vary a bit. I seem to have my mother's skin, though she had wings and I have nothing of the sort though I can fly...barely." She was still learning. Though she'd gotten much better over the weeks.

Lyn blushed deeply, her cheeks became a rosy shade normally reserved for when she was drinking something particularly potent. "Me? I...well...I don't really need to feed. I mean, I eat food. Regular sort of food." She cleared her throat. She realized she could be misinterpreting the question, but it was a deliberate move on her part. Besides. It could be what he meant.

"So," she bit her lip. "What are you working on?" She indicated the guitar, curious.

“Well, ain’t that cool. You can fly? Wish I could do something like that.” Xander just smirked a bit and he shook his head a little. “We’re weak ass demons, Incubus that is. Don’t get no nifty cool powers, just all the health and long life crap. I think the holy powers gave us the shaft when it came to power selection. But at least we’re always good looking.” He laughed as he said that last part and he shook his head again. Clearly, he was amused just thinking about it.

“Well, its very nice skin, that’s for sure. Your mother must’ve been one beautiful woman if you’ve got her looks. You must feel right at home here, though, with all the nature types running around. Elves, nymphs, even some elementals and sprites. Got more of an menagerie than I ever thought really existed. I kinda like cities, though. Grew up in Los Angeles, so I’m kinda partial to it I think. But damn, if I don’t love the ocean. Are there any water faeries? I did meet a water elemental after all…”

The blush got a smile out of the young demon as he watched her for a moment, and he tilted his head ever so slightly as his gaze wandered over her face. “Well, I enjoy a good meal, but it doesn’t do anything for me, I don’t think. Except maybe give my body the mass it needs to keep in shape. But I could gorge myself for a month, and still starve, sadly.”

When she motioned toward the guitar, he glanced down toward it and he hmmed a little bit. “Working on a song for my band. Had a rythem stuck in my head for a week now, and I’ve been trying to get it out. Sad part is, then I’ll need to work on drums and figure out some vocals, and that bit I always suck on. The vocals that is. Usually have one of the other boys figure out the words to go with the song.”

"Cool? I guess so," Evelyn seemed to think about it for a moment. "It just seems like one more thing for me to keep track of. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I kind of like to keep my feet on the ground."

Holy powers? She was almost afraid to ask what a demon considered to be holy. "There are some here who believe they are cursed. I don't think everyone revels in what they are. And maybe they have every reason not to." She could think of a few.

She folded her hands in her lap, that faint shimmer there to her skin that could almost be dismissed as a trick of the eye, but was indicative of something more. "Thank you. She was," Lyn agreed. Though as for of a compliment for her mother.

Evelyn pulled her hair back, twisting it between her fingers and over her shoulder. "There are. I've learned a lot just being here. I've met other fae, one boy who even worked with me on ny flying. It's not dissimilar to back home in Portland. There are beautiful woodlands here." She grinned, "It's the earthy part of me even beyond the fae."

She thought about it, "Water faeries? I don't know. We don't...at least that I know of...classify ourselves that way. Water elementals I've seen. Some water nymphs. But I don't know of water faeries." Then she shook her head, "Los Angeles? I've never been. It's probably a little too urban for even my father. And he loves the city. But Oregan is a little different."

"You're in a band?" Her eyes seemed to alight, a smile came unbidden to her lips. She turned more toward him, "If you need some help, that's actually one of my favorite parts. Well...outside of the song itself. I like composing the lyrics and vocals. The cadence can be completely different and it adds so much depth. Really, if -- " She stopped short.

"Sorry. You can tell me to shut up any time," but she still smiled.

“You like to keep your feet on the ground?” the demon asked with a smirk as he tilted his head again. “That seems silly.. I mean isn’t flying faster? Wouldn’t that get you everywhere you wanted to be quicker.. and man.. avoiding stairs. That would be totally cool. I can’t think of a lot that would be cooler than just that alone.”

“Oh, there seem to be some people who don’t like their gifts. Like that girl Cassandra who can see the future, though I think that might be a cool gift to have too. Find out all the winning lottery numbers and all that.” He just grinned at the thought before he shook his head a little bit. “But hey, everyone has their own opinion on things.”

“You sound just like Jillian. She’s from Oregon too, though I don’t know where. Always talking about the hills, going for hikes, and all that stuff and how beautiful things are. Chillin’ with the trees.” Xander couldn’t help but laugh and shrug his shoulders. “Fond as I am of nature and beautiful country sides, I think I’ll stick to the water and the beaches. Much better waves to surf on the beaches, than on most lakes. But that’s the surfer in me. You surf? Or prefer your trees and hills?”

“So… its just Faeries? All the same? That’s cool, though I think not quite so common amongst our type of people. I mean elementals are all different, you got fire.. water.. air..” He considered for a moment, “And us demons have too many types to mention. Shadow, chaos, fire, ice, and incubus like me are just a few that I’ve met at the school alone. I knew dozens of other types when I was in Hell.” But then he stopped and listened to her words.

“Yeah, my buds and I formed one back in High School. Pretty good group of guys. Never went big time, but we have done little gigs at a number of coffeehouses, clubs and bars. Some dude’s also making a little bit of cash selling underground CD’s of our music too. But nothing major.” Her last words got a laugh out of him as he just shook his head. “Right, hot girl who can talk music and have a clue? Yeah, shut up isn’t amongst the first words that’d be out of my lips there, I can promise you that.”

Lyn felt herself flushed again, the hint of embarrassment in the downcast of her eyes. "Believe me, I do appreciate it. It can be fun to fly, and at times it feels so natural." She thought for a moment, "There was a time when knowing how to use it better could have saved my life. As it was, I was very lucky to survive a bad fall once."

She drew up a leg, resting her hands over her knee and her chin on her hands. "Jillian? Hmm. Jillian...I don't know. We lived outside the city for my mother's sake I think. She couldn't stand the city. And it did my father no harm. I loved it. It's beautiful, but if I were to say what I really enjoyed was when I was in Canada with my grandmother. It was so diverse and amazing. A different kind of beauty."

She grinned, brown eyes shifted to a vivid blue-green, "I love the water. Never surfed, but I love to swim, beaches are nice. But I definitely don't mind a nice, steady lake either. There are water sprites I've played with that you might like." She thought about it another moment, "There are all manner of woodland and nature creatures, and fae is just one type. I think we're similar to elves in that way. Though I don't know how much they would agree with that."

Ah, right. Different types of demons. Yes, it seemed quite a few different ones. But then those eyes widened and darkened back to their natural brown. "Hell? You were there?" It seemed silly to her ears once she heard herself say it, but still, she was surprised.

Lyn found herself chuckling softly, "Is that part of some sort of demon power? Being able to compliment girls so you can seduce them?" Of course, she was kidding. At least to her. It was hard for her to feel so self-conscious around Xander. Definitely not at all what she expected being confronted with 'evil'.

“But you survived it just fine, I see.” Xander said with a nod of his head, and a faint grin. “Nothing wrong with falling down now and again. It’s what you do afterwards that matters. I seem to recall a nasty little wipeout now and again when I was on my board that nearly drowned me. But ain’t nothing in this world or the next gonna make me stop surfing. Well, unless someone decides to dry up all the oceans. But that would suck tho. If it feels so natural, why not do it more often?”

“Jillian’s a new mortal girl. Gifted human I guess is what they call her around here. You might like her, she’s all natural and woods and Oregon born too.” He just laughed at that and shook his head a little. “You know, I never expected Oregon to have cute girls, supposed to be all lumberjacks and whatnot out there. The big butch kind that make you fear for your manhood and quiver in fear when they stare at you. But so far I’m two for two.. so I must be wrong.”

“And tell me about it. Didn’t think ‘nature’ could be that diverse, but I’ve met a nature nymph surfing one morning, and I’ve been teaching a water elemental how to surf. So I’m sure I might take a liking to some water sprites. Long as they were cute, of course. Guy’s gotta have limits!” Of course, he was grinning and had a mischievous glint to his eyes as he said that.

“Yes, I’ve got that power. To seduce girls and compliment them so they’re so flustered they can’t think straight and its easy to go from there.” He grinned a bit as he leaned forward. A hand was motioned toward her cheeks as he seemed to regard them, “And from your coloration, you’re just about there.. just two or three more compliments, and you’re all mine.. all mine!” And that earned her a very wide toothy grin, before he leaned back again.

“And yes, I’ve been to Hell, the fire and brimstone and damnation place that humans fear to even mention in any form of seriousness. I was born there, lived there until I was a teenager, which is when my parents came to the surface world. I’ve been here ever since. I do miss it sometimes.” Xander shrugged his shoulders at that last comment.

"Yeah, I guess I did." Lyn wiggled her fingers, "But that's the drawback of my heritage I learned. Fae aren't known for their sturdiness. Their bone structure is way more delicate than a human being." It's what nearly did her in if not for elven healing.

A roll of her eyes met the young demon, but it was a playful gesture rather than a show of any annoyance. "Maybe if I wore plaid and an LL Bean jacket with some hiking boots, that might help make you a little more comfortable? Though having a guy admit he's wrong isn't such a bad thing. Maybe I could meet her sometime, we might know some of the same people. Never know."

Hmm. "So I've found your weakness. Cute girls and water? What if an ugly girl wanted to learn how to surf? You wouldn't be that discriminatory would you?" What a thing to ask an Incubus. Especially one who seemed to have the looks to go with his occupation. "Though really," she glanced at his guitar. "I'm guessing the guy in a band helps out even more than surfer with an attitude."

She pulled back without thinking as his hand came a little close, which just made his point all the worse and her embarrassment was channeled into the quick changing of her eyes across a spectrum of colors. "Very funny." He was kidding she bet. Of course he was kidding. She really hoped he was kidding.

Sometimes Lyn had a slight problem when it came to curtailing her curiousity. Meaning that frankly, she didn't. It often got her into trouble but it also gave her some fun tidbits and interesting experiences she wouldn't have had otherwise. "Wow. So...if you're a demon...born in hell...can you be killed? Where would you go?"

“Well, that’s not cool. Well, at least you didn’t inherit bird looks with bird bones then.” Xander said with a smirk and a shake of his head. “Humans aren’t very sturdy to begin with.. hard to imagine being less sturdy than them. That’s strange the more that I think of it, though makes some sense.. most of us have stronger bodies.. only makes sense that there had to be someone out there weaker..” Always worked out like that. Was always someone above or below you on the food chain, after all.

“Well, you could lose the jacket.. and the only plaid I’d like to see you in would be a school girl skirt, thankyouvermuch. But you can keep the boots. Those are always sexy, no matter what else the girl’s wearing.” The demon couldn’t help but grin wider at her as he spoke. “And I’ve got no problem admitting my own screwups, thanks. But, remember, I’m from LA. Anyplace with trees, we tend to think of as hillbillies who create their own firewood and have square dances at night.” He winked once at her.

“Oh, I don’t discriminate against any woman. Though, to be honest, it would depend on my mood. Sometimes the ones with ugly bodies have the best and more intense emotions, which adds to their tastes. Cruel as that sounds.” He grinned a bit, before he words brought out a chuckle from him. “Well, I don’t know.. the surfer guy has the body to go with the attitude. But, being in a band helps quite a bit, yes. Just being able to play the guitar and sing guarantees I can be the guy with the attitude, don’t you think?” His words were just as playful as they had been before as well.

“And why would I joke about that? Maybe I was laying in wait here.. just waiting for you to come over and fall into my trap.. just so I can claim you as my nightly meal tonight..” He winked at her again, before he chuckled once more and shook his head. “I was born in hell, yes. I’m sure I can die, and have no idea where I would go.. but to be honest, that’s not something I plan on finding out. Ever. We’re immortal, after all, so I plan on seducing young women for the rest of existence.”

And while we’re at it, what’s up with your eyes? I’ve seen twenty two different colors in them, and while none have matched the red in your cheeks, it’s a definite trip to watch.”

It's probably just as well that fae aren't mind readers and Lyn not privy to such thoughts of rankings on the food chain. Though she nodded her agreement, "I know. The vampires and were creatures I've met here are apparently very strong and durable. I'm guessing demons aren't much different."

"Hillbillies? I thought that was in the deepest, darkest parts of the south or something. We're in the northwest." She grinned, "I've seen some movies that make me a little glad I am where I am." But then she paused, "You've watched movies and such, haven't you?" She's just checking, not everyone is exposed to such things she knows. And, he was raised in the Underworld.

Lyn thought for a moment, taking in what he said. "Do you actually taste emotion then? Is that what sustains you?" She's just full of questions. "But you're right, a lot of people would fall at your feet just for those traits alone. And really, if you do need some help on your song, I'd be happy to."

She just grinned, deciding that this demon had quite the odd sense of humor. "Then I will have to be extra weary," she promised him. "I don't want to fall into your clutches...wait, how old are you anyway?"

"Oh." Lyn blinked and after a moment her gaze settled into a soft brown. "Something else I have to work on. Fae have a glamour, the ability to change appearances and affect our environment. Sometimes, I guess when I'm not thinking my eyes can shift without my bidding." And usually when she's nervous or otherwise emotionally distraught.

“Some can be. I’ve dated one or two that could throw me around a bedroom like nobody’s business.” Xander said with a soft chuckle and a shrug of his shoulders. “But, we’re just plain old normal. Maybe a little tougher, definitely don’t get sick like they do, but not much different otherwise. Depressing, sometimes. I’d kill for some nifty cool powers like you got. Flight.. illusions.. all I got is being cute.” Well, he had more than that, but he wasn’t about to go and tell everyone about his powers. He liked a mystery.

‘Yes, babe. I’m all for great movies. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, anything by Elvis and John Wayne. Just ‘cause I’m Hellborn, doesn’t mean I’m from some desert island. I’ve been on your world for over a decade.” He winked at her, before he grinned. “And I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I’m merely twenty five years old. Just had my 25th birthday in fact last week. Guess that means you’re falling into the clutches of a baby demon. That’s not such a bad thing, now is it?” He asked, even as he batted his eyes at her.

That smile only widened, however, as he continued to speak. “That glamour is a cool gift, but I think I like this color the best. The soft brown bit, brings out the rest of your features better. Though the emerald green you held for about half a second before might have worked too.. I’d have to see that again to be sure. Last time flicked by too quickly for me to be sure.”

He was then silent for a moment as he considered her for that time, then he slowly nodded his head. “Well, I’ve never been one to turn down help, especially from the Fae. And definitely if the stories about their musical powers are anywhere near the truth.” He winked at her again as his fingers moved back to his guitar, and he glanced back at it once more, as if considering whether or not to start playing.

"Well, being cute suits you," Lyn smiled. "Even for a baby demon." She outstretched her legs, drawing herself up. "I guess the abilities are nifty. But the powers I grew up using were my earth magics. I feel a lot more comfortable with it, but I agree...it is good to be fae." She was always told and now she gets to find out.

"Thanks," there was another faint blush to her cheeks. "It just happens I'm afraid. Not usually so much though. Didn't mean to make you dizzy or anything. Trying to control it a little better." She moved her head a bit back and forth. "Then again, that's a lot of what some of us are here for."

"Great!" Lyn didn't even bother to hide her excitement. She wasn't used to really composing with others, but this was definitely going to be interesting. She glanced up at the windows, "Oh, wow. I didn't realize it was getting so late." But she tends to get distracted here more often than not. "Maybe we can meet up tomorrow and work on it some?"

“See, that’s only cooler. Not only get those nifty Fae powers, but you got magical powers too?” Xander smirked a bit as he tilted his head. “Just how many powers do you have, babe?” he asked with an arched brow. “Here, I just look cute, and you’ve got the baker’s dozen. Life’s totally not fair, I tell you. Totally.” He just shook his head a bit at that.

“And no, you didn’t make me dizzy at all. Where I was born, you used your powers all the time since everyone had gifts, and you didn’t need to hide from the mortals around you.” He said with a shake of his head a little. “Just a trip to watch them changing all the time. And yes, that’s my excuse for staring, and I’m going to be sticking by it tonight.”

When she gave her excited decision, Xander just sat there for a moment as he watched her. “Should be fun. My mates are good players, but none of them have a talent for writing..” He then grinned a bit more. “I can’t tomorrow, unfortunately. I got plans, but I’m sure we can work on something for next week. And it’s not that late. Though, if you want to go, I can’t stop you. Unless you wanted to join me for drinks tonight..” He gave her a slow smile. “One of the girls at the school is having her birthday party at one of the bars in town. Holding a donation setup to help protect the beaches and all that. Was planning on stopping by for a drink or two and to give my own donation…”

Evelyn laughed, "I do sound like a hodgepodge, don't I? But I'm not particularly powerful with any of them, but it keeps me busy." To listen to him describe it, she was indeed fortunate. Sometimes it just takes perspective.

"I've had a mixed experienced there. I haven't been able to just go around and do anything I want, but I've been fortunately enough to not have to hide a lot. Still, it's a relief being here than back home. Here, no matter where I go, I don't have to be worried about what I might do or who I may rub off on I guess."

She glanced at Xander at his invitation, pausing for a moment. "So, like a charity event?" She bit her lower lip, thinking. It couldn't hurt just to show up for a couple of drinks. And it was for a good cause it sounded like. "I -- well...alright." She smiled, "Sounds like fun, but I'd have to change first."

“Definitely sound it at that. But I’ve seen weirder mixes. I know this one girl here that’s half Ice Demon and half Fire Mage. How those two got together long enough to make a kid is something I’ll never understand, but I’ve known her for years.” Xander said with a chuckle. “So, half human half fae.. not that big a deal I don’t think.” He winked once at her before he tilted his head slightly.

“Mixed experience? Well, that’s not all that great. But, I can’t argue too much. I remember fighting with my mother about using our powers openly when we first arrived. But then I had just turned twelve.. so I wasn’t too bright about things.” He chuckled a little and shrugged his shoulders. “But yeah, here there’s no worry about who see’s you doing what..”

He then tilted his head as he studied her for a moment. “Well, sorta. Knowing the type of girl that this is.. its more likely to turn into some drunken bar brawl, and she is quite the bitch, but hey, its for a good cause right?” He shrugged his shoulders a little. “Normally, I wouldn’t just ask out girls I just met, but since you are a woodland type.. I thought I’d offer if that’s your thing. I won’t even let you get too drunk, though if you start singing karaoke, you’d best have a damn good voice or I’m leaving your cute ass there.”
