Week 16: Monday Evening
Who: Alice and Xander
Where: School, then beach
When: Monday Evening after school

Well, it had been a wonderful start to the week. He had almost managed to forget that one of his teachers was actually his guide as well. Which, made it all the more embaressing for that one day he missed while on the beach with Kalli. Oh well, such was life. At least, it had been worth it to skip class. Everything else regardless. He even managed to get some honest to god school work in, early for once. That was a first for him, that was for sure.

Once school had let out, at least for him, since he didn’t have any of those pesky night classes. Seriously, what were those people thinking? Night was for going out and having fun, not staying in and answering questions. Especially the nights of young people, but what did he know, right? Of course, his date for that particular night happened to be in one of those pesky night classes, the little brat. But, he made the best use for it as he went out into town to get the surfboard for Alice that she would need for the evening.

He was back in plenty of time, though. Plenty, if she had to get ready after her classes that is. When she did come out of the school, he’d be leaning against the back of his pickup, his feet stretched out over the bed of it, and a hat pulled down over his eyes. Seems someone decided to do a little napping, if he was even asleep under that thing and not just pretending that was. But, even if he was pretending, he was nestled, nice and comfy between the two boards, and seemed to be quite comfortable there.

Oh, Alice's week was starting off just as wonderfully. She knew she was going to end up getting sick the minute she noticed that little itch at the back of her throat and it finally hit her when she woke up in the morning. Her sinuses were a little stuffed up and she had a little cough. It wasn't anything serious just yet, but from her experience, it always got worse before it got better. Always. Which was why she wasn't too worried about going to the beach today. Might as well enjoy yourself instead of worrying about something that you know is going to happen anyway right? Besides, today was a perfect day to spend cooling off in the ocean considering how hot out it was.

The day had practically dragged by for poor Alice as she went about the day's routines a little more sluggishly than usual. She might be a brat for picking those 'pesky' night classes since it was cutting into time that others enjoyed spending elsewhere, but she didn't mind them. She rather enjoyed her time spent in the realm of education. She was a bit of a nerd after all.

When she was finally done with all of her classes, she quickly made her way back to her room and changed into something more appropriate for the day's planned events. It didn't take her too long to get ready since she had packed a bag with essentials the night before. She made sure to bring an extra change of clothes this time just in case they ended up staying out passed sunset.

Alice then headed off to the front of the school as planned and saw a sleeping Xander nestled in the back of his truck. Grinning playfully, she did her best to sneak up on him as quietly as possible and not laugh as she did so. She tip toed closer to the demon and when she reached the side of his trucked, she reached up over it to try and snatch his hat away from him. If she succeeded in doing so without waking him, she'd place the hat atop her head with an accomplished grin on her face.

Hot days were designed for the ocean. It was what Xander considered to be Gods’ Air condition. There was no better way to cool off than to spend the day out amongst the waves. Of course, one also had to be more careful on those days as the water only reflected the sunlight back at people and burned them that much easier. It was one of those annoying double edged swords that couldn’t really be avoided. But sometimes pain came with pleasure. At least it was a pain that was easily avoided.

He had indeed, however, dozed off when she had crept up upon the pickup. So he was laying there, all nice and comfy until suddenly, there was a blaring light in his eyes. He groaned a bit and swatted at whatever it was that moved the shadow before he realized just what had happened. As his eyes came into focus, he blinked a couple of times, and then wrinkled his nose at Alice. “Brat. I was enjoying a nice little nap.” He pushed himself up with one of those just waking up groans as he stretched his arms out. “You can keep the cap, though, looks good on you, babe.”

With that, he pushed himself out of the back of the pickup and stretched one more time. “Ready to go ride some waves, babe? I’m soooo looking forward to that. With the approaching storm, there should be some killer waves out there.” It was one reason why he always looked forward to storms on the ocean, the churning tides always created good waves even before the storm itself hit. “I’ll make sure to keep to just the smaller ones for you.”

Normally on a day like this, Alice would be quite happy just sitting in her air conditioned room in front of her computer, but a trip to the beach - to actually swim - would be a nice change in pace. She wasn't really one that burned easily, but she made sure she slathered herself with more than enough sunscreen just to be on the safe side. She'd deal with smelling like a walking coconut since she didn't want to end up being sunburnt on top of being sick. That would end up being too much miserable for her to deal with all at once.

Alice nodded her head in reply as she adjusted the cap on her head so that it fit better. "If you want to continue napping, I could drive us there. I don't think you should trust me driving though since I'd probably end up getting us lost." She laughed softly and hopped into the passenger seat. "Are we going to the same place, or somewhere new this time?"

"You can take all the big ones you want. Just make sure I don't drown okay?" She wasn't a bad swimmer or anything. Just not a very good one. Alice always felt she swam better fully emerged in the water and that wasn't always the best idea when you were swimming in the ocean. Since you were underwater, you never really knew which way you were swimming and could end up going in the opposite direction than where you wanted to.

Alice was lucky that Xander wasn’t one of those poor souls with enhanced senses right now. A walking coconut smell might have proven to be too much for him. Even at the moment, he could only wrinkle his nose at her and just smirk. “Got on enough sunscreen, babe? Shesh, leave some at the store next time.” He waved his hand through the air before he just chuckled a bit. He was quick to slip into the drivers seat of the truck, however.

“I’m good. Was just a little catnap waiting for you to get out of class, damn girl taking an evening class, really!” He smirked at her before he winked once. “Sides, asian driver.. and a woman driver.. not the sort of thing I would trust my life too.” As he said that, he blew her a kiss before he started up the car. “Which do you prefer? Waves are pretty good where we were last time, though they’d be better on a cove that actually had an opening to the ocean directly.”

He then grinned a bit. “Oh, can I let you drown a little, so I can practice my mouth to mouth?” he asked with a grin and another wink towards her. “But no, Alice, I won’t let you drown. You’d not be quite as much fun all water logged after all, and I do plan on having all sorts of fun tonight. I do owe you a kiss, after all. A non drunken slobering one at any rate.”

"It's hot out and I don't want to burn," she said with a pout and then a sneeze. Damn that stuffy nose. Alice gently rubbed at the bottom of her nose while sniffling as she quietly wondered to herself if demons were capable of getting sick. Just to be sure...

"Hey, I'm going to warn you ahead of time, but I'm a little sick, so if you catch a cold from me, I'm sorry." Maybe that would also help her get out of having to do any kissing. She was more willing to do so the other night thanks to the alcohol, but today she'd be perfectly sober. She also felt a little bad about the situation since she knew Shoko liked the guy. Going around kissing the guy that your friend had a crush on wasn't really the nicest thing to do. Even if you were drunk. She'd have a talk about it with her friend the next time they saw each other.

Alice scrunched up her face at his comment about asian drivers. "We're not that bad." She knew about the whole thing with people thinking they weren't good drivers. It was mostly true, but she liked to think of herself as one of those that broke that stereotype. Sure she could sometimes get lost easily, but she was a very careful driver. Maybe even a little too careful sometimes. "And I'm fine with whatever," she replied. "I'll let you pick since you're the beach expert."

"You're more than welcome to practice mouth to mouth. As long as you don't mind getting some of my germ. I'm sick remember?" She scrunched up her face again and stuck her tongue out as she pointed to herself while looking at the demon. "You better get your best soup spoon and bowl ready," she said and winked back at him.

Xander chuckled at her and shook his head a little bit as he reached a hand over and slipped the fingers of one hand around her neck as he began to massage and knead her muscles lightly. “Next time, leave it to me.” He said with a grin. “I’ve done it often enough to know how much to leave on for a tan without burning.. too badly.” He winked once at her.

He then laughed and shook his head. “I’m not human, babe. No matter how much I might act or look like one. I’ve never caught a cold, gotten the flu, or even a case of the sniffles. I don’t think I’m capable of catching any human diseases no matter how hard I try, and believe me… I’ve tried a time or two.” Sick, pretty girls, always fun to seduce since they always seem to think nobody else wants to be around them. Silly humans.

He laughed again and shrugged his shoulders. “There are a lot of Asians where I’m from.” He said, his voice a soft tease. “And most of them can’t seem to drive worth a damn. Granted, there are just as many idiot white or Mexican drivers, but hey, you’re neither of those, right?” He blew her a kiss, before he turned his full attention on the road. “We’ll keep the same one, easier waves to ride. Plus its just as pretty and easy to get around. And I know there’s no rocks anywhere nearby.”

“Oh, I plan on practicing my mouth to mouth skills, babe. Sick or not.. you wouldn’t expect otherwise from a guy if you were drowning, right?” he asked, his voice turned teasing once again. He then waved a finger at her. “Now now, no offering that tongue unless you’re planning on putting it to use, babe.”

Alice let the hand massage her neck and she shuddered from the sensation. “You’re just trying to use that as an excuse to get all touchy feely with me.” She laughed softly. “And I don’t want to burn at all.” Her skin was a little sensitive and even if the burn wasn’t too bad, she didn’t like how tender it made her skin feel.

Sick, pretty girls were right when they thought nobody wanted to be around them. Most people didn’t like being around someone when they were sick no matter how pretty they were. The fear of getting sick themselves was what kept them away. Alice was exactly the same way. Whenever one of her friends were sick, she tried to limit her time spent with them since she knew she’d wind up catching whatever they had. It always happened too. She wasn’t sure why someone would want to get sick though. Having to deal with all the symptoms that came with a cold didn’t seem like something someone would enjoy doing. “You should be happy about that,” she said with a sniffle. Demons seemed just as silly as humans to her.

“Maybe it’s because we’re small.” She shrugged. “I usually end up shifting the seat all the way up to wheel and I still have to sit on a pillow just so I can see over the dash.”

“Nyah!” Alice wrinkled her nose and stuck her tongue back into her mouth with a huff. She wasn’t trying to send him that kind of signal when she stuck it out. Then she started thinking about Shoko again. Alice enjoyed spending time with Xander, but she didn’t want things to get too carried away with him. She wasn’t sure how she could tell him without flat out telling him that her friend liked him. She promised that she wouldn’t do so.

Xander laughed at her words, as he shook his head a little. “I need an excuse to get all touchy feely?” he asked with a grin as he glanced back at her. His head tilted slightly as he regarded her for another moment, and his gaze shifted back toward the road. “Aww, but you’d look so cute with a sunburn.” He said as that grin only grew wider.

Nobody wanted to get close to sick girls because they got all sniffly and pouty and all sorts of other unattractive things. Granted, that usually kept Xander away from them, or at least at a distance. Good thing she wasn’t that bad just yet, otherwise he might’ve cancelled this particular evening. For her sake, of course. “Happy that I don’t ever get sick?” He asked with a laugh, however. “But it makes such an excellent excuse to get out of school.. and I can’t use it here.”

Xander laughed again when she mentioned her height, and that of other Asians, and he just grinned a bit more. “Yeah, you guys tend to come in small packages. Its not really fair, is it?” He winked once at her as she stuck her tongue out at him again. “Now now, none of that now.” He said as he wrinkled his nose back at her. She didn’t need to tell Xander about Shoko, however, he already knew. Some things were hard to hide from an Incubus, especially since they were so good at sensing desire. And when you’re the only other one in the room, it becomes quite obvious who its from.

Yes Xander needed an excuse to get all touchy feely with Alice. Now that she was completely sober, she would be more aware of what was going on and wouldn't let things just go with the flow like she would if she was intoxicated. That was one of the main reasons why she chose not to drink often and if she did, she tried her best to not drink much. She knew how she acted when she was drunk and it wasn't that she didn't enjoy it. She was just afraid of letting herself get carried away.

And no she would not look cute with a sunburn. "Maybe if you like lobsters," she grumbled and wiggled herself lower into the seat so that she was slouching. She didn't like the idea of walking around looking like a human lobster. She also knew how some people enjoyed reminding you about your sunburn if you had one by slapping the area that was burned and she didn't like that either. Nope, she was perfectly happy playing on the safe side and slathering tons of sunblock on.

It was a very good thing Alice wasn't that sick yet. She got all kinds of sniffly, pouty, grumpy and unattractive things when she was that sick. The most unattractive was probably that she tended to lose her voice when it got really bad and ended up sounding like a frog when her voice was able to crack out. "I don't understand what the big deal is about wanting to get sick to miss school," she said with a shrug. "Sure you might get out of going to school for a day or two, but most parents only let their kids stay home if they're really sick. Even if you're home, you're still going to be pretty miserable." Alice was the kind of kid that still went to school even if she was sick. Might as well just deal with it since you always had to make up the work anyway. Better to just get the work assigned done with that day instead of having a double load on another day because you missed school.

"It is a little annoying sometimes." Kids made fun of you when you were growing up. You had a hard time finding clothes and shoes in your size. Being small wasn't easy.

That was depending, of course, on just what he was doing with the ‘touchy feely’. What he had been doing at the time was rather tame in the grand scheme of things. Sober or not, everyone liked a good neck and shoulder massage. It was one of those cosmic laws of the universe type of things. But his hand came away from her neck quickly enough, as the drive was, in truth, not that long.

“And I adore lobsters.” Xander said with a laugh and a shake of his head. “Tasty things, so succlent that it is hard to compare them to anything else. But, darling, you know.. there is an easier way to avoid a sunburn.” He gave her a wink as he only grinned wider. “Why do you think so many surfers wear wetsuits? Its as much to protect their skin from the sun, as it is to protect them from the water.” He then pulled the truck onto the side road that lead to the cove. So the next couple of minutes of driving would be rather bumpy.

“Aww, don’t worry, babe. I happen to like small women. There’s just so many things about them that are better to enjoy than there are on taller women. You’d be amazed.” He then paused to consider for a moment. “Even if it sometimes crimps the neck to make out with them. Remind me to sit you on something or lay down in the sand for that. Sooo much more comfortable, if you ask me.” He grinned at her before he jumped out of the truck.

“I missed enough school that getting sick wouldn’t have changed anything. I think my teachers were usually more upset at me for missing half their classes, than they were for me being a disruption in class at times.”

The gentle massaging of her neck wasn't the kind of 'touchy feely' she was saying Xander needed an excuse for. If she would have asked him to help her apply the sunblock, he'd have free range to explore her exposing skin as he slathered on the lotion. Sure he wouldn't be able to get to those..naughty areas with her swimsuit on, but there were other places that could be just as a bad. Like the top of her breasts, and her thighs. Alice had a feeling that things could easily get carried away if Xander was rubbing lotion into those areas.

"I like lobsters too," she added. "I just don't want to look like one. And I thought you guys wore wetsuits because the water was cold." Alice shrugged her shoulders slightly and sat back up straight, pulling her legs up to her chest as she did so. All of that slouching was starting to hurt her back.

"I don't even want to know what kind of better things you can enjoy with small women." She wrinkled her nose a bit with a soft laugh. She did her best to ignore the last comment, but her cheeks weren't cooperating as she felt them grow a little warm. Hopefully Xander didn't notice as he hopped out of the truck. Alice followed and strapped her bag to her shoulder when she was out of the truck, waiting to help out with carrying things.

If she thought things could get carried away just on those couple of areas, Xander would have just laughed at her. More than one ‘evening’ had begun with a shoulder massage, and then a back massage, and just gone from there. Talented fingers were all someone needed in order to really relax someone into such a situation. And he had rather talented fingers.

He chuckled at her as he hopped onto the back of the truck to take down the two boards. He leaned each against the side of his truck before he jumped out again and he just grinned at her. “Oh, all right, we won’t have you looking like a lobster this time. Perhaps next time.” He winked once at her before he smirked a bit more. “Partially. But also to protect against the water. Being outdoors all the time isn’t good for your skin, you know.; And that whole weather worn look? So totally not for me.”

He grinned wider at her at her last comment as he thought about it for a moment. “I’ll tell you, someday perhaps.” He said with a chuckle and a shake of his head. “But there’s nothing wrong with being small babe. Sometimes it’s the easiest way to disappear into a crowd. Being taller than everyone.. easiest way to stand out.” He shook his head again at that, before he gave her a wry smirk. “Sides, if you were bigger, throwing you into as wave like last time would’ve been harder to pull off.”

If Xander had voiced how talented his fingers actually were, Alice wouldn’t doubt him one bit. She was sure he had his fair share of practice to make those fingers as talented as they were. She wasn’t interested in finding out how talented though. Friends don’t let friends show off how talented their fingers are…or something. Wait what?

To be honest, Alice was a little curious about what some people considered to be ‘the finer things in life.’ She’d be lying if she said she wasn’t. She was just afraid to act out on her curiosity. She had already spent twenty years of her life a virgin and only had her first kiss the other night – if it even really counted as one. So of course she was going to be afraid. What if she ended up doing something wrong?

“I don’t want to burn next time either.” If Xander wasn’t in the truck unloading the boards, she would have kicked up some sand at him. If he wanted her looking like a lobster so badly, she’d prefer just wearing a lobster sui…okay scratch that! There’s no way Alice would enjoy looking like a lobster thankyouverymuch.

Once everything was unloaded, Alice grabbed the smaller of the two boards and held it against her hip. “I’ve never been in a situation where I’d want to disappear in a crowd.” She shrugged her shoulders and carefully followed Xander down to the beach. “I just don’t like being small because it’s hard to find things that fit me.” She paused for a moment to kick her sandals off. “Buying clothes that fit a 12 year old when you’re 16 wasn't really fun. Might be why I’m so inexperienced with guys too.” Even now, Alice occasionally found herself shopping in the teen section. It was easier than having to make adjustments to a piece of clothing that didn’t fit properly all the time. Thank whoever for companies making clothes that fit smaller women though.

Pity she didn’t say that out loud. Xander would have so enjoyed that particular line. Especially when it should be something more along the lines of friends don’t let friends drain friends. But then, mortals always did seem to ignore the particular advice that was good for them. Though, in truth, he really couldn’t fault them for it. Demons very rarely did what was good for them in the long run.

“You’re no fun sometimes, you know that?” he asked with a chuckle and a shake of his head. “Bad, Alice, bad, you’re supposed to be fun!” He just gave her a grin then as he slipped the larger board under his arm as well. He then motioned toward the water. “You start to get sick, let me know. We don’t want you getting all weak on me out there, babe. After you.” He waited until she started to move, then he headed out toward the water as well.

“Oh, sometimes there are times when you just want to disappear or not be seen. Granted, that’s usually when I’m hiding from an irate boyfriend or some upset police, but hey..” He was a demon after all, which meant not being the nicest of guys came with the territory. “But that’s a whole other story for another time, right?” At the edge of the water, he disposed of his shoes and shirt and sweats, leaving himself in just a pair of swim trunks.

“Because you look like you’re a little girl?” he asked with a smirk and then shook his head. “And here I thought guys always liked the young girl look. Lets them feel dirtier than they really are. Might just be an American thing. Remind me to go visit Japan one of these days. If all the guys aren’t hitting on women with your looks, I should be quite the hit there. Make feasting to be that much easier to pull off.” He just smirked at her and shook his head yet again.

Alice looked at the demon while she was scolded. "Everyone can't be fun all the time," she said stuck her tongue out playfully. "Be happy I'm not acting more like a stick in the mud. I'll be perfectly happy staying out of the water and watching you do your thing if you want." She moved the board and adjusted it to the other hip and continued to carefully walk down to the water. When she spotted a good enough spot, she placed the board gently onto the sand and then dropped her bag next to it. "I think I should be okay."

She then quickly slipped out of her shirt and shorts and tossed her clothes onto of her bag. "It's a waste that I don't get in trouble with the cops or irate boyfriends then," she teased. "I don't get to take full advantage of my height." Smiling, she plopped herself down into the sand and wiggled her toes in it.

"Of it's a Japanese thing too." Alice scrunched her nose up when she thought about those stories her friends in Japan would tell her. Older, fat, nerdy guys that weren't capable of getting a real girl, so they'd just continue to fantasize about the ones in anime. And then there were those hentai videos her friends made her watch with little girls that were called lolitas and all those gross tentacles. She shuddered at the memory. "I'm sure they'd like you there," she then added. "A lot of Japanese girls are really into American boys."

“Awww, not everyone has to be fun all the time, you know. Sometimes its easier just being the little wall flower that everyone is ignoring and just watch as life passes you by. I’ve done that a time or two.” Xander shrugged his shoulders a little bit. Granted, he was never going to know what it felt like to be sick, like humans always seemed to get, but that was something he wasn’t missing out on he was quite sure. He just pretended to be once in a while to get some pity out of a cute girl or three.

“Wouldn’t it be girlfriends for you? Home wrecker and all that fun stuff.” He said with a laugh as he watched her take off her clothes. Really was a pity she had her suit on underneath, but then, he had other plans for getting past that bit. Soon enough for all that. He would figure things out along those lines eventually. He was patient enough, after all. It had only been a few brief weeks since he had showed up at the school.

“Even those of us who weren’t born Americans? I’m not even from this world of yours, remember?” he said with a tease in his voice, even as he winked at her. “My mother just happened to pick America as our country when we arrived in this world. Though, I’m sure she knew what she was doing.” He stopped and thought for a moment, before he turned a grin toward Alice. “This mean if I took my band to Japan.. we’d get all the cute Japanese girls we want?”
