Week 15: Wednesday
Who: Kin and Lin
When: A little after noon
Where: The library!

Having just gotten out of his first class of the morning, Kin was making his lazy ass way toward the library. He needed to finish up some paper work for his philosophy class, even if he kept falling asleep during each lesson. Not really his fault. He always found the lectures to be a bit boring, plus he wasn't much of a morning/afternoon person. Being a night owl was his thing. Stay up all night, staring off into space, or painting. Though lately, he has been hanging out on his laptop. Doing nothing but looking things up that other kids seem to like this day and age.

It still felt weird that he was older then a lot of the students. If he met someone who was a year or two older than him, then maybe he would think differently. But so far, no such luck.

Was it wrong to feel like a brother figure to some of these kids? He'd love to have a sibling of some kind, be it girl or boy. Though he might get along with the girls more. And we're not going to get into why. That's a secret best left for the closet. If he ever feels like jumping out of it any time soon.

But for now, he was doing his best to try and find the book he wrote done to finish his paper. The class didn't start till later, but he always felt like he had no time. A little frustrated, he threw what books he had in his arms and kept looking. Of course he heard that audible "shhh" go around, causing a light blush to come creeping up his neck and into his cheeks. Moving his mouth with the word "sorry" over and over again wasn't making him feel any better. Now all he wanted to do was run out of there and just finish his paper in his room.

He can't! He needs to find that freaking book.

Sighing heavily and running both hands through those long honey blond locks, Kin went off to search for that missing book. Asking one of the librarians to help would end this long journey. Let's just say he wasn't much of the talking and asking for the help kind of guy. He gets nervous right away, and can't really spit out what he wants. So, being in one aisle and standing on tip-toes, was the best way to be his own helping hand.

In Lin’s world the day began at 12:00.

In Lin’s perfect world the day began at 12:00 with a hot cup of coffee—flavored with just a splash of gin—a breakfast that involved eggs, her dog gnawing on her alarm clock, and her fluffy green robe with the little martini glass shaped toggles. Lin’s world hadn’t been perfect for days. She still had the robe, but there was no dog, no at-hand kitchen stocked with eggs, and no coffee maker and arm’s length away require just the press of one button to start brewing that black necter of the gods. There was certainly no gin.

What she did have was the irritating awareness that she had a class to attend in an hour and a half coupled with the lack of knowledge of where it was being held. It was still an issue fifteen minutes later. Her fluffy green robe with the martini glass shaped toggles had been switched for a pair of jeans and a crop-top with a gratuitously scooped neckline. The jeans were flared at the bottom, widely, and almost hid the shaggy black house slippers.

After wandering around some section of the castle that looked like it belonged to the crypt keeper, Lin decided that Halcyon needed a directory. Or at least some helpful bastard who could scribble arrows on the walls. Like ‘bathroom this way’, because she really had to pee but not only had she lost track of her way back, but it seemed she’d lost track of all human…humanish…life whatsoever.

A few more minutes of grumbling and complaining and she took a turns down another hallway that was eerily quiet. One door was slightly ajar however, and she pushed at it and stuck her head inside.

A library. Well that explained the eerie quiet.

A quiet that was briefly broken when half the room turned to impatiently shush some poor unfortunate. Library types could get violent when you disturbed the peace. They were like a den of angry lions. Lin slipped inside and shut the door, a bit more forceful then necessary which drew some glares of her own.

Heh. Sorry. She smiled and stalked through the rows of tables observing only furiously working students. Not going to be helpful. There was one boy in the aisles who looked all the world like a toddler trying to reach the sugar boxes on a high supermarket shelf. It was sort of adorable and made her want to tease him.

She sauntered over, crossing her arms over her stomach as she halted a couple of feet away. “Do you need help little boy?”

Kin was too engrossed in grabbing this book. Good thing his height was there for something, right? He was using that to his full advantage. Till of course a voice made all his concentration disappear, and almost have him lose his balance. Grabbing onto the bookcase was probably a stupid idea, but it didn't fall! Or collide with the others and have this whole domino affect going on. Oh how he'd hate to see that happen. Everyone within the library would glare at him. Would he be kicked out?

Best to not think about these things right now..

He was able to collect himself within those few seconds, brushing at his clothing, pulling at his shirt like always, and standing straight. Trying his best to make it look like he didn't stumble all over the place, like she scared him or he saw a ghost.

"Little boy?" He finally replied, still pulling at his t-shirt, but also looking around and hoping she wasn't speaking to him. Finding no one else around but him, made him curse a little in his own language inside his head. "I.. I do-" A shake of a head was given, even a short laugh. "Yeah, I do. I can't get that book on the top shelve." Would she be able to help? She wasn't taller than him so.. What could she do? "Not to be rude... But how would you be able to get it?"

Thinking of one of those stepping stools would be awesome right now. Of course he didn't think of something like that because his mind was everywhere but the obvious. That has happened more than once. Mostly all the time, actually.
