A merciful warrior. Does a war have a place for mercy?

I spun gracefully around and placed my sword at the throat of my opponent.

His eyes, intense pools of ebony, narrowed.

"The duel is mine," I proclaimed.

"Kill me," he snarled.

I smiled and withdrew my weapon.

"If you don’t kill me right now, I’ll keep coming back until I kill you, Treize!" the young warrior before me declared.

Such a prospect sounded challenging. "I look forward," I replied.

I know we’ll meet again, brave soldier. But next time, I won’t be so merciful towards you.

I look forward . . .

A/N: Happy New Year everyone - hope 2008 brings you lots of happy times!

Parishioners’ donations were few and far between, during those terrible days. But Sister insisted we could look after these few more orphans, at least until we could find them homes.

I admired her optimism, noting surly looks from the ragtag bunch at the threshhold.

As the last boy, with long ratty hair and remarkable purple-blue eyes, was carried inside, yelling and cursing, his soldier guard said “Good luck Father. This lot are complete animals.” Indeed, a growl came from the boy at his waist and those little fists attacked him.

I sighed, and silently begged the Holy Father for mercy.

Keeping a diary or journal isn't easy for some.  This week proved that the Gundams and Oz are very good at release through the written word.  They tied last week with 10 points each.

This week's prompt is #28 - Mercy

Have mercy!

To have mercy is to have compassion and/or pity on someone and show them kindness.  It may be that someone is being saved from a bad situation or that someone is being forgiven and saved from a maximum punishment.  Some people are merciless and therefore harsh nd cruel toward others who are suffering.

Do the soldiers of Oz have mercy on Duo by cutting him some slack instead of beating the heck out of him? Would Heero ever participate in a mercy killing? Relena would pray for mercy, but is there a situation where Wufei would ever beg for it? What if he were being tickle tortured with a feather?  Is Trowa merciless? Would Zechs have mercy on him?  

Well, no matter your form of mercy, write in some compassion (or heartless cruelty) in just 100 words.
