5th Year Girls Dorm (Semi-Open)

Parvati was relieved to finally be released from the hospital wing, she couldn't understand why Professor Dumbledore had kept her there for so long after the others had been released. But for some reason, he'd decided late in the afternoon that she could finally return to her dormitory.

It felt strange to be back in her own dormitory, but not, in her own bed, but not. The Gryffindor House furnishing were eerily similar to those of her own days, but somehow it all still felt not quite right.

She lay in bed for a long time that first night, unable to sleep as her mind whirled. How did they expect any of them to live this pretense of a normal life when they had so many other important things to be doing, and how were the others managing it without going mad?

She finally drifted off to sleep wondering how they expected her to manage without her sister, her twin, her other half. But strangely enough, when she woke shortly after screaming, she was screaming her own name.

'PARVATI, NO!'

Lily wasn't a light sleeper, particularly, but she did stir when she heard a scream. It was an unfamiliar voice, so she jolted awake. Sitting up, she lightly shook her head and looked around, seeing the new girl (one of the students had just been released and introduced to them this afternoon). Lily wasn't surprised that the new students had nightmares, after what had happened, but she was a bit surprised to hear the girl screaming her own name.

"Are you alright?"

	This was strange, and Lily was only about half as awake as she needed to be in this situation. She decided to just be as simple as possible. "You are in Gryffindor House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and I'm Lily Evans, your new housemate." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Parvati raised her hands up to cover her face, but realized they were shaking and put them back down. "Of course, you're Lily P.., you're Lily. I'm sorry for waking you Lily. I still have nightmares. I'll try to remember to cast a silencing charm tomorrow night." She attempted a small smile, unsure what else to say. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Hermione sat up in a delayed reaction to the scream. "What? Ron, it's a cat, not a spider..." She mumbled, half-asleep. "Oh...Parvati, that was you. Sorry, I was having an odd dream." Parvati nodded, and finally managed to raise an unshaking hand to her face.

She looked at Hermione and whispered hesitantly, "Yes, you know, about the... village and... everything. Do you have them too?"

She looked up at the ceiling and frowned. "I still can't really remember everything, the dreams are horrible, and I don't know if it's all remembered or imagination."

	Parvati smiled her first real smile in a long time. "I'm glad to hear that Hermione, truly. I was beginning to think no one cared anymore. She gave the girl a tiny smile. "I'm trying my hardest, Parvati." Unfortunately, she couldn't tell the girl what she had done.

It was tough enough to keep Parvati from strangling the Slytherins...admitting that she was working with Draco was not a good idea.

"But sometimes I don't know what to do next." Hermione added, her eyes drifting down to stare at the sheets.

Almost forgetting who else was there, Parvati nodded. "I know you are Hermione. I just can't stand to not be DOING something. And I can't stand that most of them don't seem to CARE. How can they be so selfish? We're all here, and there has to be a REASON for that. A reason why just the twelve of us were sen...."

She stopped suddenly and her head snapped to look at Lily before finishing, "Why just the 21 of us were saved."

	Lily was confused. She was under the impression that everyone in their village had already died. Was the plague spreading? She didn't want to ask them too many questions, because they seemed so traumatized by it. "Don't worry too much about the silencing charm, I understand it must be hard for you." 	Lily nodded and smiled at Hermione, but chose to respond to Parvati's direct question. "Um, well, yeah, I guess." Mostly while trying to get under my robes, she very nearly added, before she decided that now was not the time for snarky comments on James Potter. Hermione couldn't help but laugh. She instantly covered her mouth. "I'm sorry, you just made me think of something." She said softly.

Every single time Harry met teachers (not to mention members of the Order, enemies...) they would comment on his mother's eyes. She had heard the conversations so many times...but Lily Evans didn't really think much about her eyes.

She began to do a small calculation in her head.

"Merlin, it's only four years!" She whispered to herself. The girl before her was only four years away from giving birth to her best friend. Two or three years until she would be married...and five until she died.

Startled, she looked back up at Lily. The girl certainly had good hearing.

"I...I..." Her brain searched for an excuse. Distraction? No! Lily was smarter than the others...she had to make something up. Another lie.

Hermione began to sob, and tears poured down her face. "It's my dad!" She cried, choking on her words. "H-he only has four years to live because of the p-plague! That's...that's...why I have to find a-a cure." She said quietly, still weeping.

	Lily was shocked at the reaction - she certainly hadn't expected such a strong one based on the tone she had mumbled in. "Oh - well, I'm so sorry! I wouldn't have pried if I had known. She dabbed at her eyes with her sleeve and stopped crying, but continued to sniff. "No, no, you couldn't have known...unfortunately, the professors can't help us. It's something we have to deal with ourselves."

She smiled slightly at the redhead. "But thank you for caring." This was awkward.

"Have you met any other villagers?" She asked, trying to change the subject.

The professors couldn't help? Even with all his flaws, Slughorn was pretty skilled with potions, and Lily wouldn't expect a bunch of people no older than her to have expertise far beyond his. All the teachers should be able to contribute something to a problem like this.

"Oh, yes, well... I think I've seen everyone at this point, but I did have a conversation with your friend, Harry. Nice kid. I ran into him accidentally in the library."

This was odd. It would seem weird for him to be excited, since Lily thought in the same situation she'd be rather unnerved. However, that would characterize a good amount of her interaction with Harry. Then again, when she looked closely (and when she could get past how much he resembled Potter), she could see a slight resemblance between the two of them, like one might have with their mother.

"Ah, well. That's sounds awful. To have that happen and then have something like the plague hit, well, the poor thing."

	That still didn't really clarify it. The kid couldn't be nervous around every red haired, green eyed girl, could he? Well, she supposed, they did say her eyes were unusual. 	Hermione nodded in agreement. It was hard to believe that this was only two decades ago. They had been alive, and safe two decades ago. Unaware of what was coming... Not this time. She thought. She was going to stop Voldemort...no matter what. (Reply to this) (Parent)
