HEY!

Yeah, I kinda disappeared off the face of the planet this last week too. For reasons. Mostly involving the fact that I had about eight hours of sleep all week. Plus holiday stuff- you know how it is.

BUT I'M BACK. And Hello to all the lovely new characters! If anybody wants to do anything with me, hit me up!

Looks like I won't be here this afternoon/evening until around 11ish at night (CST), because I'm going to MEDIEVAL TIMES for my birthday! And apparently my husband called ahead to tell them its my birthday so.... idk, I may be somehow picked out. I've never been to Medieval Times so, yeah.

Anyway! I wanna know who wants to play. I'm up for anything, with any of my puppets here. Sadie is still unnerved by her encounter with Wilbur and is in a generally nervous/sour mood. Jaden is coming out of her shell socially (which may not be a good thing for some people, but should be fun anyway), and as always, Barnaby and Willa would love some plot.

Post here and we'll get something going.

And here she is!

Meet Willa Mason, former Sasquatch turned wiry brunette come to Grey Haven 13 years ago with her husband Clint [info]bare_feet and son Jack (now 15). Willa is gentle-natured, super friendly, and full of energy (mostly provided for by her caffeine addiction). Willa makes fragrances, toiletries, and beauty products made from wild-grown ingredients (which she gathers herself) and sells them at her little shop (The Herb Basket), which is attached to her husband's (Holistic Medicine). She's a bit of a hippie who loves her family, her life in Grey Haven, and vanilla cappuccinos. Chances are, if you've been around the town for a while, you know the Masons; Clint's over-generous nature and Willa's affinity for randomly telling wild stories.

So plots? Yes?

New Character!

Everybody meet Barabas - or as most of your characters will know him, Barney Eldermen. Barney is the Dean of Admissions and professor of philosophy at Grey Haven Community college, has been a resident of Grey Haven for over twenty years, and has only just now come back to the city after being gone a year.

Why was he gone for a year? As most people would know, Barney's wife Selma (a staple of the community and head of the Baptist church choir) died of a heart attack the year before, and Barney took a leave of absence to 'inform the family and properly grieve'. That's half right.

See, Selma (like Barney) was one of the oldest Gold dragons still around. She and Barney (who were mates at one point) were rulers of the Metals for roughly three centuries before they decided to retire in Grey Haven. After her human death, Barney left to inform their offspring and the rest of the known Golds of her passing. He's only just now coming back to town, and needs a lot of catching up.

Personality wise, he's poised and personable, very approachable and a deep thinker. He absolutely loves it when people come to him for advise, and will likely offer it in some shape or form in every conversation. He also likes to entertain and likely will have an 'I'm Home' party for his friends at his cabin on the lake sometime soon.

So lines for him? Thread ideas?

New Character!

[info]_hellbound_
Erin here, with character number TWO!

I would like to introduce you to Jaden Walker. Jaden has been a resident of New Haven for three years, though most locals think it's only been two. Why? Because she spent her first year in the Lodge. See, Jaden didn't take the change especially easy; she had a lot of learning to do.

Previously to crossing through the Haze, Jaden didn't exist - the creature that did was a subspecies of Infernal commonly known to the supernatural world as a Hell Hound (you can read about them in the Beastiary entry under Infernals). Raised her entire life as a beastial slave, Jaden (who's True name only herself and her Breeder know) had a pretty nasty case of Stockholm Syndrome when she first came to Grey Haven, but over time things improved. Greatly. You can read the details in her bio, which is open to everyone.

As for her personality:

Jaden has grown a lot since her fateful first arrival to Grey Haven, but it took a lot of intensive, dedicated work to deprogram what had been a mind twisted by countless generations of hellish breeding and cruelty. To her credit, the buried intelligence of her species had not been completely weeded out of grasp; Jaden learned to communicate fluently within her first month as a human (and completely stopped growling by the end of the following month). Socialization and trust-building by the dedicated keepers of the Lodge turned a dangerous, near wild creature in a woman's body, into a relatively adjusted, productive member of their little society.

Three years after first arriving, Jaden is considered a quiet, somewhat reclusive woman who's entire demeanor can often be described as a little mysterious - also, slightly ominous. It's always difficult to tell exactly what she's thinking, considering her expression rarely shifts beyond three or four degrees of emotion in either direction. Her smiles are usually close-lipped and slightly tilted into one cheek, her frowns are more a sharp expression of her eyes than any other feature, but the common degree is an intense breed of stillness that always feels as though it might break into frenzy at any given second. Every thought, every action, even every expression of hers seems to be run through a thick filter in her mind. And even then, there are times she can come off a little... needlessly snippy.

Whether by nature or otherwise, Jaden has a tendency to be possessive of things she considers either belonging to her or in her care. More than a few college students and weekend readers at the library have learned not to bend the pages of library books, and don't try to take a french fry off her plate. As long as people respect her boundaries, she can be perfectly civil - even enjoyable in the right company (that is, people who don't mind her monosyllabic nature.) She doesn't mind having conversations with people, so long as they're okay with carrying most of the topic weight. If she's really interested, she'll serve inquiring questions to keep the interaction going.

As far as relationships go, she's been 'advised' against forming any solid attachments with permanent residents until she fully integrates, and that was fine with her. For a while. Now that Jaden has realized that she's her own 'person', with no one to answer to besides herself and the laws of humans, in the last year she's been slowly emerging, pushing herself to learn more about the people that share her sanctuary.

A few more facts:
-she's the local librarian (and is almost always reading)
-she loooooves to people-watch, almost to the point of staring
-she has a tendency to chuckle at very inappropriate times.

So hit me up if you want to do anything with Jaden!

So I completely forgot to do this.

Cue VERY LATE ooc/character intro. My name is Erin - some of you (most of you?) know me already, so I'll save that part. Sadie here is the important one for the purposes of this post.

Sadie Perkins! She's young, she's quirky, she's Cajun (that means sometimes, she miiiight be a tad difficult to understand). Sadie's story is a sad one, AND a long one, so I'll some it up by saying she's a former baby-vampire who's on the run for her life - which she would just love to keep human, even if that means staying in Grey Haven the rest of it. If you want in-depth details, take a gander at her bio - its all there.

Sadie works at Drake's Diner as a waitress and lives at Lakeside B&B, where she sometimes runs errands or watches the front desk for the Smiths. She can seem nervous around strangers, but *wants* to be friendly with people (that is, she's trying really, really hard to be likable, though she's got some pretty obvious social awkwardness going on). Sadie is drawn to nurturing, protective type folks, but is easily scared off by too-aggressive personalities. She's generous and extremely attentive to the people she trusts, and often will give them little homemade gifts or lean on them when close enough.

My aim is beerandsuckers if you'd like to play with her!
