Roleplay Challenge I: The "First" Coup
The Iliad mentions a plot involving Poseidon, Hera, and Athena to overthrow Zeus. Together, they managed to put Zeus in chains, and it was only by the intervention of the sea goddess Thetis that Zeus was able to escape, when she brought a giant from Tartarus to release the king of the gods from his chains. (see Book VI for more information on this)
Imagine a scenario where they were successful, and Thetis either (a) did not help Zeus, or (b) was unsuccessful in her attempt to help him. Consider how the rule of the Skies might be different, how the hierarchy might have changed, and the myriad of other factors that would come into play. Would your character have sided with Poseidon, Hera, and Athena in the overthrow? Would the lots be redrawn? How would it affect your character?
Explore the possibilities and different scenarios, and play out as many as you would like.
