Who: Pepper Potts and Felicia Hardy Black Cat What: Pepper discovers a catburglar trying to make off with her Rothko Where: Pepper's office, Stark Industries (NYC branch) When: Saturday, June 8th, late evening
Pepper glanced up at the clock and breathed a deep sigh. Nearly eleven on a Saturday night. I used to have a life, she thought wearily, although she knew in her heart it wasn't true. Before the suit, Tony had had a tendency to treat every day like a weekend, so she'd essentially always been on call. Still was, though now she had slightly more authority to tell him no.
Pepper pressed her index and middle fingers to her temples and looked down at the stack of paperwork she had yet to complete. Coffee was really the only thing for it at this point, Pepper decided. She could go home too, she supposed, but she'd really rather get this finished tonight. Then maybe she could take a break tomorrow, barring another crisis. Yes. Good.
Pulling away from her desk, she grabbed a clipboard and clicked down the hall to the cappuccino machine, still skimming through documents while the brew percolated. The liquid was just beginning to pour when the security bracelet on her left wrist beeped at her. "Tony," she sighed, exasperated. His new technology was great in theory, but beta-testing it always led to some snags. Slipping it off her wrist, she turned it over, trying to figure out how to turn it off. Then, suddenly, JARVIS' muffled voice floated through her fingers.
"There's a situation developing in your office, Miss Potts," it informed her stoically.
Pepper's brow creased and she looked forlornly at her half-brewed coffee before speedwalking back down to her office, where, she was quite displeased to find, there actually was a situation developing.
"Excuse me," Pepper intoned firmly, one hand slipping over the panic button on her bracelet. "What exactly are you doing with my Rothko? Put it down, please."
