Who: Lucy Maraschino When: night of April 9, 2019 Where: The cliffs Summary: Lucy thinks out loud Warnings: Talks of depression and loss, feelings of hopelessness
She was seeing double which granted wasn't surprising. She had started drinking after lunch and continued throughout the day nursing the bottle of Jack that she held loosely in her hand. She hadn't wanted to come but her mother had made her, hoping that somehow, some way, Lucy would find the closure she so desperately needed. There had been arguing, bitter words had been tossed out that Lucy had at once regretted. Still, she hadn't backed down with her venom, the words cutting like daggers.
“You need to move on, drinking yourself to death won't bring them back! Why can't you be like your sister?!”
“Piss off mum,” Lucy muttered as she shuffled down the path towards the sound of waves breaking against rock. She had meant to go down to the beach but had made a wrong turn but this was just as good, the cliff would do just fine. “You don't even care that they're gone.”
Still she moved closer only stopping when she could discern the distance between her and the drop off. It was only then that she sat with a heavy sigh before bringing the half empty bottle to her lips and taking a hard swallow.
“Hey Jude,” she whispered as she pulled her knees to her chest. “You're not supposed to be gone. You left me and I don't know what to do without you.”
Her voice caught in her throat for a moment before she cleared it. “What am I supposed to do without you and daddy? What am I supposed to do cause I'm lost and I don't know how I'm supposed to do this life thing without you guys.”
Raising the bottle again she hesitated for just a moment before taking another gulp of the burning liquid and then recapped the bottle clumsily. Everything hurt, not just physically, she was emotionally drained and suddenly so very tired.
“I wish you were here if only for me to tell you how much I miss you, and how much I love you.” She whispered before her voice broke and the barely held closed flood gates opened. It was then that she sobbed freely, her voice echoing on the slight breeze before being swallowed by the crashing waves.
“Please...I need you. I don't want to do this alone anymore.”
