narrative: second shot.
Heading up to the Iceberg Lounge to investigate a lead, Detectives Romy Chandler and Nate Patton were here to see the Penguin -- Oswald Cobblepot. A tip came in that he was in town this week and they just wanted to see if it had anything to do with the Dead Robin.
Cobblepot's lackie calls ahead for the detectives but there's a problem. The detectives take that as an invitation -- they pushed into the nightclub and through the crowd, headed for Cobblepot's office.
However, when they break open the door, they weren't expecting to find the Batman bent over the cowering, beaten Cobblepot.
"Hold it right there!" Detective Chandler had her sights on Batman, unsure what was going on but she wasn't about to take a chance.
"Romy, what are you doing?" Patton covered her, glancing behind them with his duty weapon raised.
Truth was, Chandler was scared out of her mind. Here they were, following up on the lead on the Penguin only to find the Batman terrorizing him. Her hands were shaking as she held her gun and her eyes never left Batman.
"Don't move! Hands where I can see them!" Chandler barked as she stood in the doorway and Cobblepot whimpered for help.
When Batman defiantly moved, instinct took over and she pulled the trigger.
"Jesus Romy! Did you just..." Patton pushed himself into the doorway, having heard the gunshot. "Tell me you did not just shoot Batman..."
"Let me think for a second!"
"Did he make a move or something? Did he have a weapon --"
Cobblepot barely picked himself up, his face bloody. "If-- if you need a witness--"
"Shut up!" Patton shouted, turning back to his shaken partner. "Romy, are you okay?"
"I... I'm not even sure I hit him..." Chandler still had her gun raised, aimed at Batman as if she expected for him to pop back up.
Her assumption was right; after a second, Batman flew forward in a blur, faster than she had expected. In one swift move, he disarmed her and shoved his knuckles at her nose. Detective Chandler cried out, lurching back as she clutched her broken nose. Detective Patton aimed his duty weapon at the Batman. "FREEZE!"
Batman stood still and turned his head slowly to look at the male detective. For a brief moment the men locked eyes and Patton slowly lowered his gun as Batman made his exit.
Patton turned his attention to his injured partner. "Romy, let me see it--"
"Motherfucker..." Chandler muttered to herself, already realizing what just happened.
Batman took Detective Chandler's gun.
