The two most important things to remember about Ricardo Ramirez in an encounter with the man, the myth, the legend are:
(1) Rafael's wellbeing is of the utmost importance to Ricardo. However, 'Rafael's wellbeing' tends to be interpreted differently between Ricardo Ramirez and the rest of the world (Rafael included). Rafael's friends are rarely extraordinary enough, Rafael's own ideas of how his life may go are rarely aligning with Ricardo's Perfect Plan, and anyone who seems like they may have the potential to influence either of those categories (yes, that could be you!) is a threat to Rafael's so-called wellbeing.
(2) You have feelings but he only cares about them if he finds them to be of use. The long-term consequences of such treatment doesn't occur to Ricardo, nor does whether or not any 'suggestions' may be inappropriate or offensive. Don't take anything he says to heart. Just don't.
Ricardo: "[Petty criticism]. What do you think, [innocent bystander]?"
Translation: "As I believe—nay, know unwaveringly—that I am right, I will include this clueless bumpkin in the conversation, causing them to feel so awkward and confused that they will agree with me, thus declaring my opinion factual knowledge about your relationship to be indisputable."
Ricardo: "Take for example my relationship with my fiancée Cristiane, my love, my heart..."
Translation: "Have I dominated the conversation recently with topics related to my countless successes? No? Okay, here is one. And in the process, perhaps I will successfully belittle the values you hold most dear! My, what fun we are having!"
Ricardo: "[Bullshit bullshit bullshit] Quinn [bullshit bullshit bullshit]."
Translation: "Why has no one threatened to fight me yet so that I may refuse, thereby displaying how I am the Better Person for all to see? I suppose I may now be desperate enough to scrape the bottom of the barrel..."
Ricardo: "[Literally anything.]"
Translation: "Hello. I am right even when I am wrong, and you are always an imbecile. I would like the conversation to come back to me, please. Me. Hello. Here I am. Hello. Hello? Hello?"
