Would anyone be willing to take care of Missy when I'm gone? Because, when my parents hear about this, they are going to kill me. Or make me wish I was dead, at least. Obviously, my cheer swag goes to Hazel and Vee, my dance swag goes to Rafael (you learn to use those tap shoes or I will haunt you), my books go to Chris, and my tchotchkes go to Levi and Diego (who can properly appreciate them).

It was nice knowing you guys.

[...]

I wish I were a little drunker right now. At least my newly acquired Azurplague is kinda cute (thanks Quinn or Diego or whoever).

[Warded to Rafael]

[...] Are you mad?

[Warded to Chris]

Still want to drop out? We could just run faaaaar away and never go home again. What do you think?

Maybe they'll be too full of rage to notice until it's too late, and by that time I'll be in the ground and you'll be living your rich new life in Rio as hotel bellboy Miguel Silva, so we'll both come out ahead anyway and it will all turn out perfectly and there won't be anything to worry about.

It's really the best possible solution.

I've always wanted to travel, but I'm not quite seeing how that's a perfect outcome for you? Also, I don't think I could pull of 'Miguel'.

Because I fucked up e won't have to deal with any of the fallout. Believe me, it's ideal right now.

Fine, you can choose between 'Miguel' or 'Felipe.'

The fallout? Oh. Right. You and Jess are probably going to be in trouble twice, huh? Once as students and once as prefects. Shit. [...] Any word from Maggie or Cecil or the teachers yet?

Definitely Felipe.

We're supposed to be examples so sometimes we get made examples of. It's a great system that really respects our individuality and lets us learn from mistakes we've made. You know, like normal teenagers. But no, nothing on the extra funishments — I'm betting on another Storytime Breakfast Story from Bloom tomorrow. How's the looming spectre of detention treating you? You're a veritable goody two-shoes compared to the rest of us your cabin.

Felipe does sound sassier. I like it.

Yeesh. Sounds [...] fun.

Honestly? I don't care about detention. I did the crime, I'll do the time, etc. etc. And I have had it before; I'm not a total goody two-shoes. The letter's the only part that makes me feel like I'm going to throw up.

And it sounds a bit like flip. (Don't hit me.)

[...] I'm being kind of a bitch overdramatic again. Sorry.

Hey, I said compared to your cabin. I never doubted your badass side, I promise, but it's good that you're fine with the detention.

I won't hit you but I will upgrade your fake Brazilian life from hotel bellboy to exotic danc circus performer. Now your new name can come in handy for marketing or whatever circus performers do.

I don't think you're being overdramatic. For what it's worth. Being a prefect is so much work and now you're getting punished twice when all you did was come to the hill and try to watch out for the rest of us instead of doing what you actually wanted to do. Complaining's fair. Even if we did something stupid. Which, I guess, we did.

Well, I should hope not. Since I'm clearly such a badass. At least I'll be in good company, right?

[...] Brazil is sounding better and better. Instead of faking my death, how about you just run away to the Brazilian circus with me? You could tame lions or someting. You'd be a bad ass lion tamer.

That's the problem, though: that's all we did. They're going to say we could have done more and that we should have done more. They'll be right. It's just kind of bullshit.

It'll be a party. (But not a good, illicit party with alcohol, hookups, and gratuitous injuries, oh no, it'll be a boring party with window-washing or chair-sorting or something.)

Missy's the closest thing to a lion I've 'tamed' for a while. Can I be a fire-breather? Less dangerous.

Like shut it down? [...] I guess. Still. Doing something should be worth something?

Oh yeah. I'll be there with bells on.

Sure. Fire-breather works too. We should go now! Under cover of darkness! Before any more lectures can be given out or any owls can be sent.

[...]

You okay, Quinn? Seriously.

You'd think so.

Great idea! I'll grab my pillow and my most flame-retardant clothing and meet you at the docks at 2am. The codeword is monokini.

Seriously? Either yes, no, maybe, I don't know, or I'll be fine. I'm leaning towards the last one right now. I'm just [...] pretty pissed off frustrated, I guess. I could have really hurt I made some really fucking stupid decisions and the repercussions could have been a lot worse than they were. Every time someone says "But everything worked out fine! Nobody was seriously injured!" I want to punch a fucking wall because one stupid goddamn rock out of place could have seriously injured a student and I didn't fucking think about it because I was so wrapped up in the excitement and the tradition that I ignored what I should have been doing all along.

A bikini is even better works too!

[...]

Everyone was caught up in all that, though. Not just you. And nothing (really) bad's ever happened before. So it was easy to think [...] nothing could. You know? I guess we should've known better, but you still busted your ass taking care of us and you still made it safer than it would've been otherwise. Even if you didn't do everything you could've done. You definitely helped me. So. Just learn from it and don't beat yourself up too much. Or, at least, don't punch any walls. That's all you can do, right?

[...] You make a good argument. Have you ever considered law, or some other soul-crushingly boring profession?

You're right but I still lied to Cecil Thanks, Ty. It means a lot that I vow that the walls of Gooseberry will remain untouched, but it's a one-night-only offer. No promises about tomorrow.

I actually have a soul-crushingly boring profession in mind already, but thanks for asking.

It's just the truth, Quinn. We're teenagers. We're bound to screw up. You've just got to roll with it sometimes or you'll make yourself crazy. [...] I'll keep my schedule clear to have this conversation again tomorrow, then?

Oh, oh, Bible salesman? Lettuce dealer??

I know, really. It just feels like sometimes we can think we're only screwing up a small thing but then there's all these bigger things just waiting to fuck up at the same time and we just don't realize it, but I don't know if that makes any sense. And yeah, if you're concerned for the welfare of our walls I'd suggest penciling in an encore around 9pm?

Hmm. Robes repairperson? Junior Undersecretary to the President of MACUSA? (I have no idea what the Senior Undersecretary does, let alone the Junior.)

I forgot you're drunk I suppose. By the way, Hawkeswood, you're a surprisingly insightful drunk; I'm a little jealous.
