ANNOUNCEMENTS: Mar 14
We've got a busy week and an even busier weekend ahead of us, so please forgive us if we're slow in dealing with things. ♥

There's a Grotto party on Friday, and it's going to feature RNG drinking games and possibly a smooch plague of UK origins! Be sure to sign up your character by Thursday night if you'd like to play Spin the Bottle/7 Minutes in Heaven!

We're still moving to Dreamwidth! To facilitate the move, please give us your DW usernames HERE so we can get you added to the comms. (Currently, we plan to post the Grotto party on IJ as our last big hurrah, but this does mean that there will probably be a delay in dealing with the RNG drinking games on Friday. We'll see!)

Head's up: there's a plan in the works for a surprise camping event during the final week of March~~

Finally, Spring Break begins on Monday, March 20, and students don't return until the evening of Sunday, March 26! Students may stay at school over break, but we didn't really plan anything for them? (This might change, idk.) If you'd like to make plans for your characters and coordinate with other players, please feel free to PLOT HERE. :)

IMPORTING YOUR JOURNALS TO DW

I started writing a moving guide and then I got swamped at work. Here's the first part of it:

Importing Character Journal Content
You’ll find the import tool under Organize > Import Content in the menu. (Although DW warns that this process might take as long as a day, I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes.)

Select “InsaneJournal” from the list of services.

Enter the username and password of your character’s IJ journal. Click “Continue.”

The next screen will ask you what you want to import: Profile data, Friends, Custom security groups, Journal entries, Journal comments, Tags, Icons, with explanations for all.

This only includes content on your journal, i.e. your apps, timetables, everything in your dropbox. The mods will take care of importing posts/comments on the game comms.

The icon import will fail if you have more than 15 icons. That’s inconvenient, however you can run imports as many times as you want so you can always try again when you’ve got a paid account to get all 100 of your icons.

For my first time, I selected everything except “Icons” and “Update icon keywords” because I don’t have enough free icon slots on DW. Click “Continue.”

Check that everything looks right. Click “Start Import.” Your import request will enter the queue. You can close the window, and return to Import Content to see when it’s done.

Claiming Your Character’s OpenID
Be absolutely certain that this is the DW username you want to use for your character. This is irreversible, so if you end up regretting claiming your character’s old posts and comments with “azursexxxybabybird” then no one can help you.

Make sure you’re logged into the InsaneJournal journal you want to claim. In my case, I want to claim “stokers” (IJ) with “threatens” (DW), so I’m logged into both on my computer.

Go to Claim OpenID Account.

Enter the full url of your InsaneJournal. In my case, it’s “stokers.insanejournal.com”

Once you click “Claim Account,” you’ll be redirected to InsaneJournal, where you’ll be asked to verify your identity. Click “Yes; just this time.”

An email will be sent to whatever email you’re using for your DW journal. This will take awhile, so go write tags or marathon Ghost Adventures, whatever. You do not need to be signed into both accounts anymore. The email will be titled “Your Dreamwidth Students Request” and it took about 20 minutes for me.

Once you click the confirmation link in the email, the claiming process will begin. Once it’s done, all of the posts/comments which were imported from IJ will now be attributed to your DW journal, like so.

JUST TO LET PEOPLE KNOW you may have to add http:// to the beginning of the url to claim your open id if you get this error.

"There were errors in your request:

no_identity_server: Could not determine ID provider from URL."

I was able to do it without adding it for 3/4 of my accounts, and Alex was able to do it without it for 4/5 of her accounts, BUT IF YOU GET THAT ERROR, IT FIXES IT.

	I just tried to do this and got the following: Your friend groups have failed to import. XMLRPC failure: Failed to connect to the server too many times. This was failure #3. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	you're importing, right? it happens. just let it do its thing. i think some of mine took a couple of hours to transfer over, but they all worked despite those errors. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	yeah for some people it seemed to be almost instantaneous. i suggest waiting 12 hours and, if it still hasn't worked, beginning a slow, healthy panic (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	It usually is, but sometimes it gets weird. It had a lot of trouble transferring over Reid's icons yesterday, and then I tried again this morning and they imported within seconds (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Yes, what Kas said! Connections to IJ tend to fail like half of the time because IJ is... broken... but most of the time it goes through because DW will try like 5 times or so. If the import fails outright, just try it again :)

Meggie did have an issue yesterday where one of her imports failed and then froze, but a few hours later, it all timed out and let her try again. This seems rare, though :O

	It said everything imported and was successful. Her profile is there. The only other thing in there was the dropbox, which I had lots of nonsensical stuff on I just like to look back on lol (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	I did, but it didn't work. So I tried it after taking the entry off 'date out of order' status that most dropbox entries are under and it worked! (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
