| Hello There |
[Jun. 30th, 2008|12:11 am] |
Hey everyone! My name is Erika. Yeah. Hmm....
Yes...well, I usually play console games, a magical mix of games you can just pick up and go and rpgs. I'm mostly a nintendo kind of girl, but n64 and up. I recently played an snes and I kind of sucked at it. Yeah...but my favorites are Starfox64, any Super Smash Bros game, Dance Dance Revolution, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear series, and any fps or platformers when they aren't all blah blah brunette angsty guy on mysterious planet. I'm also glued to my DS, Animal Crossing to be exact; the game cube version is more vast in my opinion but it's nice to have a handy version.
But yeah, I really love DDR. I've been playing for 3 years now and I think it may be my favorite game of all time! It's sad that I don't see many girls playing it, because most of the guys that do have extremely crazy ego problems!
Oh, and I love Sonic. Any Sonic; 2d, 3d, doesn't matter. Kind of an obsession.
I see a lot of girls here play WoW and other mmorpgs, and I've tried them but I just don't have the attention span...and all the little kids. I think that's the most annoying part. Anyone have any suggestions for not annoying ones? I've heard Travian is fun but pretty slow when you first start.
So, opening questions, other than The World Ends With You and whatever Phoenix Wright qualifies as, any good rpgs for the DS? My fellow girl gamer friend is playing Lost in Blue 2, but I want to know if it's worth it to hunt down the first one... |

Hello, I'm Kris and I'm relatively new to this community but not to being a gamer.
I noticed there's a lot of ladies who enjoy MMORPGs here, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them so I'm hoping you guys can still help me out. I'm pretty open to most genres but I like a lot of turn-based RPGs and platform games the most, and I love both Nintendo and Playstation games.
I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me? I'm always looking for a new game to play.
Also, I'm curious how many of you have heard of the game Legend of Dragoon. It's always been one of my favorites but it isn't very popular and I'm always on the lookout for fellow fans. |

| [ | Mood |
| | hopeful | ] | So, I completely suck at console games and barely has any clue when it comes to its games. I'm usually a PC/tabletop girl but I got me a shiny new PS2 and I need something to play since I'm almost done with Resident Evil 4 now.
Mostly, I'm looking for car games, horror games and/or RPG's of the Baldur's Gate type. But really anything you think is great and feel needs to be played is much appriciated. |

This week... tonight... my Karazhan team had our first full clear. Screenshot! (I'm the one with the Voidheart Helm, aka Blue Swirliness of Doom)
I'm so happy right now!!
Feel free to fawn and congratulate me ;) But also to share your own personal bests in WoW and other games :D |

Also, keep those gaming posts coming. It's interesting to see other people discuss games and gaming issues, points of view, et cetera. If any problems arise, please let any of my mods know.
Anyhoo, I wish all of you a pleasant summer, and I will see you when I return. |

Have you ever been running by a group of other players, but you see SO MANY GOLD AND WEAPONS/objects that are LYING there, especially if you KNOW you can get a lot of gold/money from them?
UGh. I get so pissed off! and they LEAVE it there. Maybe I am a pack-rat (although I do sell the stuff that I don't need if I can.) when it comes to gold and stuff, but I don't see the point in leaving money that you'll need to upgrade to a better weapon and armour! It just doesn't make any sense to me. :/
Does it bother you guys, or is it just me? |

This girl I know made a video about girl gamers and I thought it'd be cool and whatnot, but imo she made girl gamers look like whiny little girls who deserve to get made fun of. It angered me a little bit. I know she was trying to make a point but I don't think she did it very well so I thought I'd see what you guys think.

| Post WoW and Pirates Online |
[May. 31st, 2008|03:49 pm] |
| [ | Mood |
| | apathetic | ] | It's been a while since anything has been posted here, so I figured I'd post something game-related.
As I stated months ago, I did indeed quit WoW for who knows long. I had a huge falling out with someone I used to consider a friend. He would constantly harass me on all my toons, and of course, the 'wonderful' (yeah right) customer service department did nothing, so I deleted all my lower leveled toons, left the server and moved to another one. The guild I was in was full of great people, but after that experience, I decided to stop my subscription. Meh, oh well. Even though my priest was level 70, I wasn't really able to progress like I wanted to.
Anyway, I've been trying out Pirates of the Caribbean Online. I wouldn't really recommend it. The graphics are subpar, the lag is horrible, and the quests are the usual 'fetch this and that and blah blah blah' over and over. The weapons are okay, but it's definitely not worth 9.99 a month. I chose to subscribe for the first month for 4.95, but I'm going to cancel my subscription when it comes time to renew it. If you play a free account, you're really limited as to what you can do, what weapons you can have and whatnot. The other gripe I have is you have to call an 800 number to cancel your subscription. At least with WoW, you could do it online.
Has anyone else tried out this game? What was your experience like?
Anyhoo, I think I'm finished with MMORPGs for a very, very long time. They're just not my thing anymore. |

As a way of thanking those who helped me with my FPR rate problem (still no RAM - need small enough screwdriver to get the back off my laptop first) I am here to show a screenshot of an event common to Shattarath. Or at least it is on my server.

| WoW Framerate Problems. |
[Apr. 25th, 2008|01:09 pm] |
Greetings all, I'm SkySong, and I come seeking guidance.
I play WoW. I play a lot of WoW. But I'm having difficulty with my framerate, which seems to vary depending solely on how my computer is feeling about me day to day, but typically runs in the 4-8 range (even when feeling friendly). This has prevented me from doing a number of things as I reach higher levels - such as maybe joining a guild or attempting that PVP thing - because I'll often find myself lagging two to four seconds behind everyone else. This also makes traveling, anywhere take twice as long as it needs to be. I run WoW off a laptop (with the aid of an external harddrive), but this has never posed a problem for me in the past and I do not believe it is the problem now. This has been occurring long before the new patch, and I don't have any UI's installed.
I've tried numerous things. I have defraged. I have closed all but the most vital background programs. I've run all sorts of system cleans and removed a lot of old programs I didn't realize I still had and long ago ceased using. I do not want to reformat (though I probably should anyway) because everything else works just fine.
I'm hoping there is something I have overlooked or simply not been able to find in my own research on the topic, and any adivce would be welcome. |

So uh, more Warcraft icons! This time a set of sorts. :3 I'm not too satisfied with the Jaina or Kael'thas ones, because I couldn't find any really good art. Still, I didn't want to post with them, so. Here you go.

I love the dancing video, except they left out trolls, undead and the female human and Draenei female dances. Oh well. It's still hilarious.

| When Gaming Isn't Fun Anymore, Part II |
[Feb. 10th, 2008|07:22 pm] |
Well, I decided at the end of the month, I am suspending my WoW account while I go on hiatus. If and when I do decide to return, I am moving to another server. A friend suggested Skywall, so I will look into it at a later date. I may suspend after the Valentine's Day content, and to say goodbye to some of the friends I made. I still have one last gift to give to a dear friend before I depart. So, for the next 4 days, I will be farming like a mad woman for Peddlefeet, but not for me - for my sweetie who I have grown to adore and will miss.
I want to personally thank you all for your comments on my previous post. I'm glad I am not the only one who has experienced burnout. It sounds silly, but at least suspending my account will save me fifteen dollars a month. I guess I'm to the point where fifteen bucks isn't worth the stress and crap on WoW. |

| When Gaming Isn't Fun Anymore |
[Feb. 9th, 2008|01:03 am] |
In a short span of five months, I am burned out on WoW. I can't take any more of the overinflated epen0r or ebewbies, the constant 'ur mom' insults, the God awful grammar and spelling skills, the guild drama, the personal attacks, the whining, begging, scamming, spamming...need I go on?
A friend of mine called WoW 'The AOL of MMORPGs'. He was right. I mean, has anyone read most of the posts on the WoW boards? My God, for a game spouting it is the largest MMORPG in the world, the majority of the community sucks ass.
All I wanted to do was play a game and have some fun, relieve stress, enjoy something. But no, it has become a chore and has lost the shimmer it used to have. I think after Valentine's Day, I am going to suspend my account and call it a day. My logic is this - if a game isn't fun anymore, there is no point playing it. I have quit RPGs in the past for the same reason, and I haven't went back to them since.
I'm sure there are other rpg's out there, but to be honest, I'm kinda burned out on the very idea of even playing a game at all. Anyone else had this problem?
In hindsight, it was fun while it lasted. |

| Gaia online |
[Jan. 24th, 2008|04:33 pm] |
Hee, I totally understand it's not a game for everyone, but the past week I've totally been getting into this game. It's down now, OMG. D:
I'm lucky in that although I only started playing last week, I had an account from way back in 2003, which meant I was eligible for new year gold! XD
Does anyone else play? What are some good ways to earn gold besides spamming? So far jigsaws, market and first post/journal entry of the day have been my favourite way to earn gold.

gamingYou're playing this awesome game and want to share it with people but your friendslist isn't terribly interested and you don't want to spam the regular gaming communities with your progress reports? Then gaming is the place for you! We'll listen to your ramblings and be happy to contribute our own: Let us know where in your games you currently are, what you like or dislike, if there's a boss you just can't beat (who knows, someone might even know a tactic you didn't see in that FAQ you were reading) or if there's one you've finally, finally beaten or what you think about your current games' designs or battle systems. If it's about what you're currently playing, it almost certainly belongs here.

If you have any comments/costructive criticism, I'd be happy to here them! I'm kind of caught off guard by the fact that the comm already has three (make that four by the time I finished writing this post) members after existing for just an hour and before I even did any advertising. But that's great! I hope to make this an interesting and exciting addition to comms like this one. ^^; |

Has anyone else had the problem of the system playing all disks, but not movies? Regular DVDs. It always worked in the past, but just recently stopped.
I'm just wondering. If only because I don't want to use the DVD player in the living room--there's an HD TV and I absolutely despise them. |

| | Namie Amuro - So Crazy | ] | This last week I've decided to replay an old favorite of mine, Legend of Dragoon. Everything was going smoothly up until I was standing around on the world map in front of Lohan. I was so glad because it's a commerce town, which in gamer speak, means shinies for me. Yay, shinies! Sign me up, cap'n, let's go! And I waited and waited and waited for the town to load...
About three minutes later I realized the black screen of doom was never going to go away -- furthermore, I hadn't saved beforehand either. Now, I know that logically this can only be because I'm playing it on my PS2 instead of my PSX, but I just couldn't be bothered to unpack the thing for one game. So I suck it up and keep right on goin'. Everything goes fine for a long time until I get to the Gigantos lair area.
I try to enter the Gigantos village and again, the game promptly freezes and again, I hadn't saved beforehand. My eye twitches a little, but y'know joke's on me for not thinking to save, right? I got in a random battle ten minutes later and the thing freezes immediately afterwards. dgjfhd I cannot believe my own patience sometimes.
It froze about five times in the village of the Gigantos altogether -- twice directly after a boss battle and a lengthy cutscene. Can you believe that? The best part of it all though was my mom noting how annoyed I was and asking me, "Why don't you just play it on your PSX?"
I replied, "Because then the PS2 wins, mom." |
