Maddie knew that some people might have NEWTs to study for, as well as OWLs. Both of which should start some time that next week (she wasn't taking them so what was the point in keeping track of when exactly they were?). But wouldn't playing actually be calming and make it easier for some people to study? Yes, Corner was currently dating her oldest male cousin, biologically, but that didn't mean she had to get so snippy about asking her to leave the common room. If she wanted silence, why didn't she just go off to the library? Some people just needed to live more off sleep than coffee...

She sighed as she headed outside and off to the courtyard. Even Brock hadn't been around much, but then he probably needed to study like all of the others. Her guitar case was strung across her back, the bottom beating against her lower back rhythmically with each of her steps. Outside should be one place where no one would try to shush her.

Maybe she would into putting together a band. Madelina had been considering it for quite a while, and it sounded like a good idea to her at least. Maybe something before summer let out so they could practice. She was getting fairly good with her guitar, true, but it still wouldn't be good for much more than the occasional open mic night somewhere. She had also been saving her pocket money for hopes of making demo tapes. Though that might take some more muggle technology than would ever work at her house. Alas, but such things could also be bypassed. Perhaps. She'd never asked her granddad to see if he could put together a computer with magic. Then it might also make toast and clean at the same time...

Maddie found herself a little dry patch against the big tree, only giving the smallest glance at the heart with "CD & CC" carved into the bark. Guitar in lap and already tuned from the common room, she just started playing, singing just to herself.

"Hey there Delilah. What's it like in New York City? I'm a thousand miles away, but girl, tonight you look so pretty. Yes you do... Times Square can't shine as bright as you, I swear it's true. Hey there Delilah, don't you worry about the distance. I'm right there if you get lonely give this song another listen. Close your eyes... Listen to my voice, it's my disguise. I'm by your side..." She went into the chorus, not really paying attention to anyone who might be listening.

Shane had decided it was time for a swim. He knew the water down at the lake would utterly freezing still, but this is why he had a wet suit. Sure, most wizards of his stature didn't think to purchase such a muggle thing but he'd seen one when he'd been visiting France in the winter and had found it to be quite useful if you wanted to swim during times when it wasn't ideal. And so even though the air was warm enough to go around in just at tee shirt, he was wearing a wet suit. And he was swimming, enjoying himself and the solitude very much. Friday afternoons were always nice. The weekend was there and he wouldn't have to worry about teaching another class until Monday.

Yes, Friday's after classes was a nice time. That was until of course he heard some laughing fifth year Slytherin boys across the water. He looked back at them and saw what they were doing. He should have expected it really. He'd have done the exact same thing if it had been him in the same situation. They were making off with his trousers. Yes. His trousers. And his pants. They were kind enough to leave him his shirt...but still, there went his fifty galleon a pair designer trousers to Salazar knew where.

Shane didn't bother shouting at them he was too far out and they were too far gone for them to hear him anyway. Besides, he'd get them later. The Crabbe boy couldn't run very fast and he knew that the Bynes boy couldn't make a fist if he tried. Even if his mother was three hundred pounds and named Millicent. He swam around a bit more, trying to get used to the idea of walking up to the castle with no bottoms on when he surfaced again and saw one Miss Rose Weasley.
