Game Rules
Game Rules:
1. Have fun. This is a freeform rpg, and is character-driven. If you aren't having fun with a character, you might want to consider changing the concept or dropping out of the game altogether. Don't force it.
2. Be nice to other players. You don't have to be nice to characters, and your characters certainly don't have to be nice to anyone, but I expect a level of maturity from the people in my games. We're all adults, and we should be able to act like it. If you have a problem that needs help settling, go ahead and contact me about it. I promise that all problems will be resolved as quickly and diplomatically as possible.
3. Participate. A game is only as good as its players. There are mod-controlled characters and story elements to help stimulate plot and interaction, but because of the nature of this game, a lot of the responsibility will be on the players to act as writers and plotters, as well. You get what you're willing to put in, basically.
How to Play:
- Interaction can take place in individual character journals, or over aim. Logs and threads posted to the main rpg journal should be edited and placed behind a cut-tag, with any applicable ratings and warnings. A sample header would look like this:
Setting: (where the scene takes place)
Time: (when it happens)
Characters: (who is involved, or who is invited to be involved)
Rating: (G, PG, R, NC17... just like the mpaa ratings for movies)
Summary: (what happens... a sentence or two should suffice)
(Characters do not have to keep individual diaries or blogs if you don't want them to. If you want to use your character journal to write diary entries, that's fine. Some characters might not be the journaling type. Some characters might own computers and have blogs. It's entirely up to you. So if you only want to use the character journal to participate and post to the rpg comm, that's also fine.)
- There is no upper limit for how many original characters* you have, but please only take the ones you have time for. If you want to play multiple characters from one journal, that can be worked up. This can be useful if you ever want to play members of a character's family, or want to play several characters at once without having to log in and out of separate journals.
*A player can only have one named "movie" character. For now, certain named characters - like the Largo brothers - may be mod-controlled for plot purposes until they are picked up by players.
- Players may be asked to leave the game if they become inactive. Activity levels will be determined by player participation, rather than character involvement. So long as you are participating in the game in some way, your characters will be fine, even if you aren't doing that much with them all at any given moment. The only exception to this rule is with named characters. If someone picks up a character from the movie (one of the Largo siblings, Graverobber, or Shilo Wallace) who then falls inactive and unplayed for more than two weeks, they will be asked to leave so that someone else can have a chance to play that character. This is because there are so few named, canon characters to begin with, so if they aren't being played I'd like them to be open.
- There is no restriction on content, so long is it is behind a proper warning. I do ask that NC17 posts be kept locked friends-only to the comm, so that people who are underage can't stumble across them. Violence, drug use, and sexual situations are all fine. There will be no policing of character sexuality, as well. Both hetero and homosexual situations are allowed. To that end, if you are uncomfortable with a scenario, it is best to let your rp partner - or the comm - know ahead of time.
- If any of these rules or guidelines are unclear, please feel free to post a question below and I'll answer it.
Now that you've read the rules, go ahead and apply for a character!
