I had a few people asking if we could go ahead and start taking prompts. I've discovered that we're now also in the same timeframe as kinkfest, as someone pointed out to me.

So, now I have a question here, and to see if anyone is actually interested in this round. *looks at the quiet from the last one*

Do you guys want to start taking prompts now and write in May, or wait until May to take prompts?

Wow, I am a sucky mod. So, after much distraction, *coughs and eyes PSP*, I'm finally kicking myself in the butt to get moving again.

So, time to start up the next round of Gen Challenge. This is for all of us who are just as happy writing fic with no pairing, or where the pairing isn't the focus. Pairings aren't forbidden, we're just here to play in the situations outside of who's with who and doing what.

So, here's the schedule so far. I've not been on many prompt coms lately, outside things like porn_battle and areyougame, but hopefully this won't conflict with them.

These are all based off my time(EST), though feel free to base it off your timezone as well.

1: Prompt submissions: May 1st-16th

You an start submitting prompts starting May 1st, and continue to do so until May 16th. Prompts should be Fandom(written out fully, please), Character/s wanted, prompt itself(word, cliche, lyrics), and a number between 1-30. That's right. We're doing the date system this time, as it's easier to keep track of.

Example:

Final Fantasy VII, Zack, Angeal, teaching is hard, 25

You -can- request a specific pairing in the request, but it shouldn't be something that is required to be overt. That's why yaoi_challenge, het_challenge, and other coms exist.

2. Prompt selections: May 17th-31st

Each prompt can be picked four times. Twice for fic, twice for art. First come, first served.

3. Start writing: June 1st

Prompts will be due the day they list, based on your local time. Post, post, post. *grins* Each story should be at least 100 words, and since I can't draw, people who do art? Use your own discretion. *sheepish smile*

Okay, didn't have quite the turnout I hoped for the last round of Gen Challenge, and I was just making sure everyone was alive out there.

That, and I have a question for you all. I had a few people ask if we were going to do the ad style, such as what Yaoi and Het challenges had done on LJ.

Is there an interest in this? Or would you prefer to stick to this style of claiming?

Only had two people pick prompts. Come one, everyone. It's fully of shiny goodness. And I try hard to not pick prompts till other people have had a chance at them. So pick, cause there are lot of nice things to be had here.

Sorry about the delay. I'm a horrible, horrible person, and I apologize. However, claims are now open. Go here and select. No more than two fic and two art claims will be allowed for each prompt, and I've made a few minor changes for things. So please read.


If you guys are anything like me, you are always being struck by ideas, but by the time you can submit them somewhere, the idea has fled. So, for those of you interested, you can -continue- to submit prompts. I will keep adding them until Dec. 1st. Along with that note, you can keep picking up prompts as well until Dec. 1st. I'll make a posting every time more prompts are added, so everyone will know that there are new ones.

Also, the gen challenge on LJ and this one will allow you to pick prompts from either set. All right. Might as well get this going. I'm looking for prompts for the next round of gen challenge. This round is going to be slightly different from the first round of GC, but hopefully we'll all have fun and keep things running smoothly.

First off, this is going to be a long challenge. Prompts won't be due until -December-. yaoi_challenge has their Halloween challenge going on now, and I'd really hate making our challenge due at the same time, no point in pressuring people. And November is just a bad time, period, to make fics due. Yeah, I do Nano, and a lot of people I talk to do it as well. So December is going to be our due in month.

Prompts are going to be a lot like last time. Fandom, Character(s), story prompt/lyrics/idea. However, this time? The prompts will be screened. That's right. Nobody knows who donated what, and you will be able to pick from the choices given.

No limit on prompts you can give. Just drop them off here, and I'll post them as soon as we get a chance.

Okay, basic setup for GC.

1: It's a gen focused challenge. While I don't mine a pairing being in the fic, the main focus should be gen, not on pairs.

2: Stories need to be at least 500 words, and pictures should be decent.

3: Each prompt is up for selection twice: Once for fic, once for art.

Well, might as well get things going here. I'm looking to set up for a long round of Gen Challenge. Meaning that fics/art will be due sometime in December. If you are like me, November is a bad month to try to do fics outside NaNoWriMo, so I'm looking at having a round that will end sometime in December, about the middle of the month.

For those of you in the last round, any comments on what you thought? Ideas, suggestions, questions?

I'm looking at doing the challenge submission/claim like we did the last time, only with one or two small differences. The big one is simple: Prompts will be submitted in secret. So you won't know who gave your prompt when you pick it.

What I'm looking for is do we want to do a theme set, or just do random, as we did last time. Do you want setups to be different? Selection process need streamlined? I'm willing to listen to any suggestions, so, please, don't be shy, and let me know what you are thinking.
