LUTHOR FACTORY DESTROYED, ‘BROTHERHOOD’ TO BLAME Friday, November 8, 1889 Late on Thursday, the metahuman rogues known as ‘the Brotherhood’ attacked and destroyed a textiles factory. The vandals entered the building, which belonged to the Luthor Corporation of New York, and set the structure afire. The blaze did not spread, largely due to the efforts of S.H.I.E.L.D., which arrived soon after the fire began and suppressed the flames until the Fire Department of the City of New York could bring the fire engine. According to Mr. Luthor, business will not be affected. The factory was already scheduled to close, and production will move to another location. “No doubt these criminals intended to deal a blow, to make some sort of statement,” Mr. Luthor said, “but they have failed. My workers still have jobs, and my factories will not close. Honest men have prevailed.” Though S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived at the factory not long after the blaze was discovered, they found no trace of the criminals who perpetrated the despicable act. There were several witnesses, however, who described the Brotherhood as ‘hulking shapes’ dressed in ‘dark clothes and coats.’ |
