FAQ:
Define sports anime/manga type fandom?
Anime/Manga has a number of special interests, which occur frequently enough to be given their own subgenre. Examples of this would be Magical Girl, Harem, and well sports.
Effectively series which have a focus on the sport, and the implications that this has on the characters are the sort of series welcome here.
While there is a lot of debate about what is a sports series, some people will go with Yakitate!!Japan being a sports series, others will disagree, some will note that Hikaru no Go revolves around a sport, that is well, very non-sporty, Go.
The maintainer has decided to draw the line is, by looking at a commonly accepted stance as well as whether the sports is the actual focus of the series.
So humour series with a focus on the sport, like Eyeshield 21 are good, romance with a focus on the yaoi, are not.
Does it have to be anime/manga based fandoms? What sort of fandoms are appropriate to post here?
Yes, although the maintainer
qem_chibati is inclined to be lenient at the moment.
To give an idea here's a brief run down.
Good:
Things that are extended from a sports anime/manga series, for example, the prince of tennis musicals are highly welcome!
Crossovers with a sports anime/manga fandom are welcome here, even if they crossover with a non sports anime/manga fandom.
Cross posting - Cross posts - posts that go to several communities are welcome here.
Eh Probably:
Series that are Korean Mangwahs, or the Chinese equivalent, etc, there should be no problems with.
Eh Probably Not:
Series which only lightly touch upon a sport and focus on something else, for example a yaoi series would largely be considered inappropriate, because it's only using the sport as a tangential plot device - it's not a focus in the series at all.
Another example would be Hunter X Hunter - although competition is used in the series, the series can be more easily defined as Adventure - the focus is on something entirely different.
Bad:
Real Person Fic based on extension of appropriate fandoms, would be considered inappropriate here. The maintainer would prefer that this comm remain character centric.
Things based on American LiveAction movies would be considered inappropriate for this community.
