Who: Capri ([info]cjagger) and Andon ([info]ar_)
What: Capri surprising Andon
When: June 25, 2011
Where: Andon's home
Rating: R for language, nudity, drug use
Status: Incomplete

Upon departing Capri's apartment Sunday afternoon, Andon headed to the home he had purchased just one day earlier to take a power nap so he could rest up for a drive up north. Without mention to anyone, Andon simply decided to return to Dallas. He was still acting on impulse after having what he considered a bomb dropped on him by his ex-girlfriend. Labeling Capri Jagger his ex-girlfriend was also new -- to him. She had given him no choice but to accept that as fact with her words. Andon wasn't even talking to anyone. He had missed three calls, and several text messages from teammates and family went unanswered. What ultimately transpired at Capri's apartment had sent Andon tumbling into a depression. This was unprecedented for him; he had never felt like this over any woman. Then again, Capri Jagger wasn't just any woman.

Andon's drive to Dallas wasn't a waste. On Monday and Tuesday, there were workouts organized by some of the Dallas Cowboys. Andon's head, however, wasn't wrapped around the idea of preparing for the upcoming season, especially because the workouts weren't mandatory. He couldn't muster the effort needed to perform in the makeshift drills and 7-on-7 simulations, as he was getting pushed around and embarrassed by newcomers and rookie linemen. That also weighed heavily on his mind, forcing him to believe the game was leaving him behind despite completing one of his best individual seasons just last season. Everything he had experienced over the past few days attributed to the decision for him to pursue performance-enhancing drugs. Maybe that would alleviate some of the stress, allow him to put football at the front of his mind, and return poised for the upcoming season.

After receiving information on how to obtain the aforementioned drugs, Andon returned to Galveston. The paparazzi and media were pretty much non-existent there, and he could execute the injection(s) within the comforts of his own home. Plus, the arrangement for the deal was set up to be made in Galveston.

Andon stood before the mirror in the bathroom of the master bedroom in the vast home that was intended to be occupied by him and Capri, with the paraphernalia to shoot steroids directly into his blood stream laid out onto the sink. Andon's heart was beating rapidly. He couldn't believe what he was about to do, what had brought him to this stage in his life. He convinced himself that he needed this, though, that he was only getting older and someone younger would ultimately supplant him and his role on the team if he fell below a certain standard that was set in his mind. Shaking his head, Andon grabbed the waistband of his boxer briefs and pushed them down to just above his knees; he then grabbed the equipment to set up to syringe that was supposed to make him better.

It was pretty clear what Capri had to do after hers and Andon's discussion on Sunday afternoon. That day she had heard his confession that she had been longing to hear. It was an emotional day that ended with her actually willing to talk to him. He didn't take her reaction to his confession well. That much was clear when he walked out of her bedroom and heard a big boom noise coming from down the hall. By the time she got there, with Jazz on her heals, he was gone and she was greeted with the sight of a hole in her wall that was left there by her ex-boyfriend. Capri was pissed, just because he didn't like her reaction, didn't give him the right to throw a tantrum and destroy her apartment. To say she was beyond pissed would have been an understatement. She had had enough. The next day she drove to what was supposed to be their home and make him pay for the damages he had caused, only to find out he wasn't home and went to Dallas.

Capri had no choice, but to keep trying, she had even attempted to call him to no avail. He wasn't answering. He needed time to cool off and she would give it while planning her next move. It was decided. She need all things Andon Russell out of her life, there were only two gifts left and she sure as hell wasn't going to give up her new pit bull. The only thing left was the diamond heart necklace. It was his first gift to her, and when she left him for some reason she couldn't let it go. She still remembered the day he gave it to her. It was during an away game when they were still keeping their relationship a secret. They had managed to sneak away for a few moments at a nearby park, after walking, talking, and a few intimate movements, he surprised her with the necklace. He told her he got it for her because she had his heart. It was the sweetest thing she had heard from him. Wearing it one last time before she gave the necklace back, she touched the cool chain and diamonds. It didn't carry the same meaning anymore.

Like she had before, she pulled up into the driveway, holding the keys he had given her. It was obvious he was home since Capri saw the car in front of the long driveway, and like many times before she knocked on the door loudly. No answer. She knocked again and still no answer. It was strange. Reluctantly, she used the keys he gave her. "Andon?" Her voice carrying throughout the house. He was right, it was a beautiful home. "Andon?" She asked again, with no answer. Looking around the home, she reached the door of the master bedroom. It was the only place that had any light or sound coming out of it, he had to be in there. Slowly, Capri entered and walked around. The bathroom door was open and the light was on there as well. With each movement she found herself inching towards it. Then she saw him, pants down and a syringe in his hand. "What are you doing?" She practically yelled.

All the necessary steps were taken so that all was left was to inject the drug into his body. Andon was looking at the syringe, second-guessing his decision to follow through on the use. His head turned to the left, out of the bathroom, as he thought he heard a noise in the distance. It sounded like a door closing. He shook his head, putting the notion out of his mind; it was impossible for anyone to be entering -- or leaving -- his home. He was the only person with access. Capri also possessed keys, but she wouldn't be visiting. She made it perfectly clear they were over. She had no reason to stop by.

Andon's attention was back on the syringe. He dropped it to his side so he could look at himself in the mirror. To prepare himself for the injection, he took in a huge breath and released it slowly. It was still unbelievable that it had gotten to this point. But he told himself that it would only be once or twice, that he wouldn't abuse the drugs.

He turned his body to face the bedroom, positioning his right butt cheek in a manner to where he could twist his torso and facilitate the puncture of the skin to administer the steroids into his system. As he closed in on himself with the needle, Capri's voice startled him. Andon fumbled the syringe and ultimately dropped it; he had to jump away from the needle because he nearly pricked himself anyway. It was something he never envisioned himself doing, anyway. He had always played the game the right way -- and wanted to. Capri may have just saved him from an even more rapid decline. "I... I don't know," he admitted, sounding defeated.

Grabbing the waistband of his underwear, Andon pulled the boxer briefs up. There was no need for him to just stand there with his penis on display.

Her eyes were wide in shock, normally Capri would have averted her eyes at the sight of his naked body. The syringe in his hand took precedence however. The necklace on her neck and the hole in her apartment, the reasons she came here in the first place, were quickly forgotten. Had Andon really hit rock bottom that he needed to turn to drugs for some sort of relief from whatever problems he was going through? This wasn't the man she knew and loved. What was happening to him? Capri wasn't stupid, she knew exactly what he was doing. Being a former cheerleader you saw and heard a lot of things that happened behind the scenes. She just couldn't believe that Andon would be doing it, he was always by the book.

Hearing the tone in voice, Capri actually felt sympathetic towards him. She still wondered how he could get to this point. The dropped syringe was near her feet. Picking it up she moved closer towards her now half clothed ex-boyfriend. "Steroids Andon?" She asked in disbelief. It was pretty obvious that was what the syringe contained and she highly doubted he was going to start shooting up heroin. "What the hell are you thinking?" She was waiting for an answer and her other hand clutched the necklace she was wearing unconsciously.

There was still silence in the bathroom, she was still waiting for her answer. "Well Andon?" They way she spoke sounded like a mother chastising her child. "Why were going to do this?"

He watched as Capri picked the syringe up from the ground.  Andon was still digesting the fact that she had caught him red-handed in the act; his heart was pumping at an abnormal rate, because he was startled and that it was Capri who witnessed.  She was not supposed to see him like this.  What would she think of him now?  And now, she had asked him a question.  A question he didn't have the answer to, or a question he didn't want to answer?  For starters, he felt as though his answer wouldn't sound sensible -- and he would have been correct.  It sounded pathetic as he put it together in his head.

Andon nearly shrugged to reply to Capri's question.  He knew why he considered steroids, but it was irrational.  Clearly, he hadn't thought it through once he had his mind set on pursuing and using steroids.

Capri asked him once more about the drugs that could potentially ban him from professional football.  "I had a bad couple days at workouts up in Dallas," said Andon, avoiding eye contact with Capri until he spoke again.  He tried justifying the steroids attempt with his continuation: "You said what you said, I got upset, then I got depressed.  I think it may have affected my performance in the full-contact drills we were doing.  I didn't do well ... and, well, here we are."  Andon then went into full-on defense, adding:  "It's not like I'm getting younger, Capri!  They bring these fuckin' young boys in to learn from guys like me so they can eventually replace me."  His arms were flailing accordingly as he tried explaining to Capri why he was making yet another poor decision.  She couldn't understand, though.  There was no way.

No, Capri wouldn't understand. That much he was right about. She couldn't understand how Andon would willing put something that could harm him into his body. She couldn't understand how he could put his career, something that meant so much to him, on the line like that, not to mention his health. There was no way Capri was going to let him do that. They might have not been together as a couple anymore, but Capri still cared deeply for him. Though she would never admit it to anyone, not even herself she still loved him.

With the syringe still in hand, she looked back and forth from it to him before finally settling her gaze on him. She listened to his justifications, excuses in her mind, and her jaw clenched. There was definitely something she wanted to say. "Oh so because you didn't get your way with me you're just going to throw your life away?" She retorted, feeling a little guilty since part of the reason he was about to inject the steroids in his body was because of her. "Andon you're better than that! I know you are, you're better than any of those guys out there." Now it was her turn to give him compliments for the sake of an argument, it was funny how the roles reversed. She didn't want that on her conscience. "I'm not going to let you do this."

With that sentence said, the syringe was thrown on the floor and Capri stepped on it, breaking the syringe with a loud crunching sound, next was the small vial containing the steroids. It went down with a loud crash, breaking into little pieces from her throwing it to the ground. Now he couldn't be attempt to hurt himself again.

"No!  What I'm trying to do - since you don't want to be apart of my life -- is make it better some other way!" he shouted, snapping.  "This was the first thing I went to because of what's been going on at the workouts."  Surprisingly, to himself, Andon's explanation was clear.  If he knew why he had pursued the drugs, why wasn't he in his right mind about them until right now?  The depression had clouded his judgment, and performance-enhancing drugs were the first thing that developed in his thoughts since it formed immediately following the most recent players-only workouts in Dallas.

He was set against the bathroom sink when he acknowledged Capri's compliment.  Andon's hands were in his hair, his attention on the ground, still avoiding direct eye contact with his ex-girlfriend unless it was necessary.  He lifted his attention to look at her; Andon was trying to fight back a smile.  He was only focusing on the positive words she expressed.  That would bring about a resurgence in his belief toward a reuniting.  "You think so?"  In actuality, he possessed no legit reason for thinking his best days were behind him after the season he had last season and a couple of poor days at workouts that weren't organized and after being off since January.

He lifted himself from the sink's support.  Andon observed Capri after she informed him she wasn't going to allow him to basically throw his life and career away.  "Capri, wait!"  He was too late in putting a stop to her destroying the drugs and drug paraphernalia.  "Damn.  I could've gotten my money back.  You know what?  It's all right."  Ultimately, Capri most likely made the right choice ridding his home of the drugs.  It eliminated the opportunity for him to try again, if it had gotten to that point.

"I'm surprised you're here, though."  He would leave it at, as opposed to jumping to conclusions and pressing for an answer he wanted to hear, only to receive an answer or response he didn't like.  He was learning to keep his mouth shut and offer open-ended dialogue.

"Andon I never said that I didn't want to be a part of your life!" She retorted back. The statement wasn't exactly true, plenty of times before this Capri told him to leave her alone and get out of her life. Those words came from a place of hurt, pain, and anger. After their discussion two weeks prior, Capri allowed him to come back into her life as a friend. That was the only relationship with him she could handle. Anything else would just mess with her head and make her more confused than what she was.

Capri moved closer to him in the bathroom. Her shoes clicking against the hard and cold floors. He still couldn't look at her, which meant he knew he did something wrong. He needed to hear words of encouragement and praise, Capri would gladly do it if that's what it took to convince him not to go on that path. "I do, Andon." She placed her hand on his shoulder. "None of those guys know the game like you do, and they certainly don't have the heart like you do. They don't love it like you do and that's not something you can teach."

"Yea right," she snorted. It didn't work that way and she wasn't going to give him that chance either. "If I hadn't you would have done it anyway and I'm not letting you that Andon.

Quickly Capri was reminded of why she came to the house in the first place. For the last time she touched the beautiful neck on her neck. "There was something I needed to do." Reaching around her neck, she took the necklace off, his first gift to her, and held out Andon's hand for him to take. "I can't keep it anymore Andon." It pained her to say it

"Not in those exact words, no," he countered.  "The only option I was given ... well, you know."  Andon shrugged, evading a reiteration of Capri's words from that day.  He didn't want to think about the offer she made him.  They had come too far; he couldn't see the two of them just being friends.  They were much more than that.  Much more.  Capri was now consoling him.  She tried elevating his mood with words, but she was touching his shoulder.  That forced his mind back to her stating they could remain in one another's lives only at a friend capacity.

While Capri was dead on with her encouraging words, Andon remained quiet.  He nodded when she made mention of how he would be susceptible to experimentation regarding the steroids again if she hadn't destroyed them, agreeing.  She was right regardless of how the direction their conversation was affecting him.  No denial there.

"What's that [that you needed to do]?"  Out of his periphery, Andon acknowledged his ex-girlfriend reaching about her neck.  It grabbed his attention, which shifted fully to what Capri was doing.  She was removing her necklace, which confused him.  It was the very first gift he had ever purchased for her.  The sentimental value behind the necklace was probably unmatched by anything else he had gotten for her except for Jazz.  Maybe she was removing it to show him something on her neck.  Capri was returning the necklace!  Unbelievable!  What was occurring right here was even more unimaginable than Capri leaving him.  "Capri, no!  What the hell?  I'm not accepting that."  Andon pulled his hand away from Capri's grasp before she could set the jewelry in his hand and walked around her, exiting the bathroom.  He looked back at her.  "I don't believe you.  Capri, are you seriously giving that back to me?" Stopping, he turned his body to face her directly.  "That's bullshit."

It was hard not give a small laugh at him in that moment. It was a miracle that Capri was even talking to Andon in the first place. If he wanted her in his life like he said he wanted, friendship was their only upon, no matter the lingering feelings that remained there. "We used to be really good friends." She was referring to the short time before their relationship began. They used to talk about everything and anything. It was an aspect of their relationship that she missed.

Capri knew he wouldn't like her giving back the gift, she just didn't predict to what degree. Walking out of the door wasn't one of her predictions. And they were back to where they first started, angry and emotional. Hot on Andon's heals, she followed him to the master bedroom, a room that would have been theirs, with jewelery still in hand. "Yes I am." She said in all seriousness. There was no way she was keeping it. Unlike the dog, she would only remember their happy moments and it would feel like a stab in the heart. "How can you expect me to keep it Andon?" She asked in disbelief. How was she in the wrong? All she was trying to do was move on with her life.

Her body moved closer to his to avoid yelling at him. "I don't want a reminder that we were happy once."

Andon looked at Capri.  He was just staring at her.  His mind had dug memories of the two of them laughing, having fun, making love, anything positive when she uttered that they used to be really good friends.  It seemed now that things were perpetually disastrous every time they were around one another.  Andon had only himself and one decision to blame for it all.  There seemed to be no solution to what he had done.  "Yeah.  We used to be," he agreed, his attention shifting to the floor.

"How can I expect you to keep?  It was a gift, Capri!  People keep gifts."  Andon was allowing his disappointment to control his emotion, exclaiming while Capri was more calm.  It wasn't her.  He was just upset with the direction his life was going in.  His tone would be apologetic, lowering when he spoke next.  "Why would not want to remember a time where we were happy, baby?  If anything, I would want you to remember that for us, not what I did six, seven months ago. Just looking at you is a reminder of a time we were once happy."

She wanted to return the gift he had given her, he was put in a position to do nothing but accept it; Andon held out his hand reluctantly.  "All you're gonna remember now is the one thing I did that was wrong.  You won't have anything good to remember about me?"  He began to see a bit clearly as well.  Capri making necessary moves to rid him completely of her life.  The necklace was most likely the final link on the chain that sustained their connection -- and now she was breaking that off.  The only way he could salvage any type of relationship with Capri was if he succumbed to her offer of remaining just friends.  It was the only way.

When she transferred the necklace to his possession, Andon looked up and into Capri's mesmerizing green eyes.  "'Pri, I still want to be friends, if you'll still allow me to be."  It pained him to practically beg like that, to be just friends.  However, it was Capri, and he would do anything for her.  Andon then asked her to stand in front of the bed.  "[For] old time's sake?"  He undid the necklace and requested she stand in front of him with her back to him so he could set it around her neck.  "Just one last time.  We can take it right back off; I just want to remember how it feels to put it on you, like we used to do."

"If that were true I would have taken most of the things in Dallas." Over the course of three years Andon showered Capri with gifts, some lavish and some not. They all held some meaning and had some special memory that Capri didn't want to remember. It would only remind her of how happy they were and how much they were broken now. She still didn't know why she just didn't leave the necklace there too or why she still kept it. There was just something in her that couldn't let it go, until now. She looked at him softly. Still wanting to remain calm, she had already done the unleashing of emotions when she slapped him last time they saw each other. "I need to move on Andon. I can't keep thinking about those memories anymore." That just blurted out of her mouth, she didn't want Andon knowing she still thought about them.

The necklace she was holding was now placed in his hand and a strange empty feeling came over here. Now most ties relating to their three year relationship was cut off. She contemplated his question for a moment, but didn't answer. Instead she bit her lip and looked at the floor before looking back at her ex boyfriend. The truth was she would remember the good with him, but she would think about how they ended as well. The bad would always be in the back of her head.

She gave a small smile, surprised Andon agreed to just be friends. Brown eyes met green as she looked at him. "Yea. We can friends." His voice just sounded so down, life had really chewed him up and spit him out. Remembering their little ritual after games, Capri stood there. When they were still keeping their relationship a secret, after the games he would put the necklace back on after when they were alone. She didn't know what made her stand in front of the bed in from of his tall frame, but she did as she asked, lifting her hair from her neck and waited for Andon to put the necklace back on.

It was official: they were friends.  Andon could accept that label on their relationship for the time being.  It was all part of a plan he was devising.  The ultimatum was created by Capri herself; Andon would just tweak it and help them re-develop as they moved along.  She basically said it a friendship or nothing at all.  He needed her in his life to some degree.  He can't be greedy here.  Take what you can get and allow it to build.  It was possible that the plan was working immediately while in its beginning stages.

Andon stepped closer to Capri.  There was minimal space between them, her back to him.  She provided direct access to her neck as she pulled her away, which he would seize in a moment after placing the necklace back around her.  Andon acted as if he was struggling to latch the jewelry, when it was actually already connected; he was buying time because he was closing in on the nape of Capri's neck.  His lips gently touched her there.  Then, just off to the left side of her neck and where it curved toward her shoulder.  Andon's hands settled onto Capri's abdomen, his right hand a bit higher to just under her right breast.  He pulled her back into him, her bottom pushed up against his groin.

While his hands wandered about momentarily, his lips sat idle on her shoulder before resuming and contacting the center of the top of her back and below her neck, between her shoulder blades, where skin was visible.  "Mmm," he muttered.

Capri had to be crazy to let Andon do this and stupid enough to think he wouldn't try anything with her. The necklace felt cool against the heated skin of her neck and collarbone, despite being in the warms hands of Andon moments before. Her own hand went to reach for it, just like she used to. The memory actually put a small smirk on her face, they were happy then. There were no mistakes made, no apologies being given every other week. It was just Andon and Capri, two people who loved each other and didn't let anything get in the way of them being together. It seemed that everything was a hell of a lot easier then.

Her arm was starting to get tired from holding her hair up as it appeared he was having trouble with the necklace. Instead she swept it to the side over her right shoulder, still leaving her neck exposed to him. She felt his lips on her back and then she knew he wasn't having any trouble with the jewelery. Instinctively with eyes briefly closed, her head move to grant him access to her neck and her arms moved over his, responding briefly to his advances. "Ahh.." a small moan escaped her lips. It would just be so easy to give into him.

"Andon." She whispered, the realization of what he was doing finally hit her. She needed to get away from him. "No..." Not sounding to convincing with her arms still draped over his and her voice shaky. "Andon." Her voice a little more stern. "Let go of me." Now her body was struggling to get out of his grasp. "Andon, stop!" She finally found the strength to pull herself out his grasp and turned around to face him. So much for being friends. "This was a mistake."

Capri's initial request for him to put a stop to his advances -- her calling his name -- went ignored.  Andon heard the low moan.  It was pleasing to hear that come from her; it was music to his ears.  He assumed Capri was just battling with the decision between believing if this was right or wrong.  Andon was unsure if she felt that anything physical would hinder their newfound friendship.  They still had a past, however, and that past included intimacy.  Intimacy, he felt, they still could share -- friendship or not.  Capri's request went unanswered because her voice and body language lacked conviction.  In his mind, she desired him as much as he desired her -- only she wasn't blatantly admitting it.

It wasn't until Capri literally pried his hands away from her abdomen and chest that Andon received the message.  She was indeed serious, and it took him by surprise.  "What!  Capri, what!  What is it?!" he asked, loudly.  Clearly, he was upset at the rejection.  There was nothing else he could do, however.  Andon reached for Capri and she pulled back.  "I don't believe this shit.  What was a mistake?"  He clutched his genitalia, which was growing due to arousal, as he watched Capri, but only for a second.  "Capri, why are you doing this?  Did I really fuck up so bad that you don't even want me touching you? Baby, I used to make you feel good."  He no longer possessed the magic or touch the could subdue any disagreement or argument they had.  That one mistake on Christmas night seven months ago would likely haunt Andon for the rest of his life.  He was beginning to believe that.

Their past did include intimacy, physical and emotional, but they also had a deep connection and a strong bond with each other attached to it, as well as they were in love with each other deeply. While Capri was still in love with Andon, their connection wasn't there anymore despite them trying to rebuild it with a friendship. Andon had destroyed what they spent three years building seven months ago the minute he slept with some random groupie. He had given some woman what had always been hers so freely, that was just something she couldn't get passed. There was no way she could give herself to him again without that connection. Capri wasn't the type of woman to go have sex with a random person, even if that person was her ex boyfriend. She needed love and that emotional connection.

It took them no time for them to get back to yelling at each other. "Coming here was a mistake." She said soft, but stern. Her eyes searched frantically for her bag that she had brought with her, right now she was very eager to just bolt out the door. "I shouldn't have come here." On the bed was where she found the white purse, only problem was she had to get through Andon to get it. "Why am I doing this?" Unbelievable, he was the one that cheated and yet everything was on her. "You cheated Andon! You gave yourself to another woman without giving me a second thought. So no I don't want you touching me, not like that." This wasn't one of those arguments where all he had to do was say the right thing or touch her so she was weak in the knees. It seemed like with every step forward they took one step back. "Why couldn't you just be happy with us being friends?"

Capri had him there.  He cheated.  Andon received the answer to his question.  In retrospect, he wished that it was just a rhetorical question -- or that he hadn't asked to begin with.  He set himself up with that question; it stung every time he was reminded that he was to blame for destroying their future together.  "That's not true!" he argued, getting on the defensive when she accused him of disregarding her when making that terrible decision several months ago.  "I thought about you, Capri.  I didn't want to do it; and I've told you that.  That wasn't me that night.  That's not how I do things."

Andon hung his head for a quick second.  He lifted his attention back to Capri, who was trying to retrieve her bag that was on the bed.  "'Pri, I accepted that.  I accepted that we would be friends.  But I never said I didn't still have feelings for you, and I never agreed to being happy that we're just friends.  All I did was accept it.  You can't blame me for that!"  He shook his head afterward.  "I don't think you coming here was a mistake, either.  If you didn't, who knows when I would have seen you again.  And we also wouldn't have been able to agree to be just friends."  Andon tried absorbing some fault here while also trying to justify his actions; he needed Capri to view things from his perspective.  He couldn't let her go as easily as she made it seem to be able to let him go.

Capri was really getting tired of the whole 'it wasn't me excuse.' First, it was him and he did sleep with another woman. Second, there was something called free will. No one made him sleep with another woman and no one had put a gun to his head. Andon did it all on his own. Third, he did not think about her. If he had really thought about her, the groupie never would have made it to his hotel room that night. She voiced those opinions. "God, I am so sick of hearing that excuse Andon!" Her voice louder and her hands moving every where as she talked. "It was you Andon, alcohol or not. No matter how drunk I was or upset I was, I would have never taken some random guy to my hotel room and fucked them. Knowing that I had someone back at home." It was back to the same argument. "It's called free will. You could have said no, but you didn't."

Now she was starting to doubt them being friends. It seemed like they couldn't get pass their main issue, Andon's infidelity. Plus Capri didn't know what to do with the lingering feeling she had for her ex boyfriend while they were friends. "Yes it was. I shouldn't have come here knowing that I still," she caught herself, hoping Andon didn't pay attention to the words. "Never mind. I should go." Her feet moved closer to grab her bag, but Andon wouldn't let her.

"Baby, it's not an excuse," he argued, "it's the truth!  Alcohol or not?  Capri, that's not necessarily true.  Depending on how much you had, you can't really control your actions.  Not when you can spend whatever you want on drinks, plus mixing them -- and not even knowing what you did.  A person can do anything out-of-character because of liquor!  And we were celebrating that night, so I wasn't the only one buying anything.  I couldn't even tell you what all I had that night." Andon could see on Capri's face that whatever he was saying was going in one ear and coming out of the other.  She wasn't having it; he was wasting his time trying to explain.

"You coming here was not a mistake.  You coming here will allow me to say this: Capri, if you give me another chance, I promise I will never hurt you again."  Capri was adamant in believing that her showing up at his home was a mistake.  She wouldn't budge on that stance.  Andon was going to let her gather her belongings so she could leave.  She was in the midst of speaking when she suddenly stopped, thought about what her words were forming, then tried to avoid it.  Capri had grabbed her bag and was preparing to leave when Andon absent-mindedly clutched her arm.  It was a rather forceful grab, but he needed to hear where she was going with her sentence -- if he was anticipating what she was going to say correctly.  "Say what?  Knowing that you still what, baby?"  He had gotten excited to a degree, but only on the inside.  On the exterior, he was providing his best showing of composure.  Andon wanted to finish the sentence for her, but he let her resume -- if she was going to.

No Capri wouldn't understand. She couldn't understand that alcohol was the reason that he cheated on her. The fact of the matter was, drunk or not, he knew that he had a woman who loved him at home and that he was in a relationship. He simply chose to disregard that fact and their relationship all together. Capri would have never done that to Andon, she loved him too much. She still loved him too much and that's what killed her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop loving Andon.

Capri almost believed him, but there was that wall still up and a warning in her head about him. He hurt you once, he'll hurt you again. Her heart was a different story. It was a clear fight between them with no clear winner. Her green eyes looked at his brown wide, she realized what she said and now she was caught. The words almost slipped out. Should she tell him the words that had been in her heart these past months or just keep them hidden? In all honesty, Capri was tired. Tired of the fighting and holding her feelings inside. Of course she was hurt and angry at him for what he did to her, but the feelings she had didn't just go away over night. Capri doubted they would ever go away. "I still love you Andon." It was the hardest thing she had ever done.

He wasn't going to allow her to postpone, evade, stall, or whatever other options Capri had at her disposal for this one.  Andon caught about to reveal something she wasn't supposed to, and he wanted to hear it.  No ifs, ands, or buts about it!  In a sense, she was stalling.  They were paused, just staring at one another.  There would be no excuses, however, and Capri wasn't leaving until he received his answer.

Even if Capri chose to go an alternative route and say something completely different, Andon wouldn't have known the difference.  But she confessed.  What he had imagined, hoped, and anticipated Capri saying, she said.  Andon froze up, not really expecting her be direct, so straightforward with the answer.  "I ..." he started.  This was part of his new approach: thinking about what comes out of his mouth next so he doesn't ruin anything on impulse.  He was going to utter, I knew it!  That would have been disastrous; he dodged a bullet there, so to speak.  "I love you too, Capri, and you know that.  Let's work on it.  I'm willing to do whatever.  From here on out, I'm a changed man."

His heart was pumping slightly quicker even though he heard what he wanted to hear.  Maybe going through what all they've went through, it was still equally shocking, especially to hear her tell him directly.  Andon couldn't believe what he had her, still.  Their eyes remained locked onto one another's even after he expressed himself.
