Non-Challenge: Not in Front of the Children

Don't be dead, community!

Title: Not in Front of the Children
Author: Veleda_k
Author's Notes: I was playing with a random word generator, and got the word "expletive." Somehow, this came about. My brain is diseased.

Hisoka looked at the strange, blobby things and glared. Watari could make whatever twisted creations he wanted, as long as they didn't make trouble for Hisoka.

This definitely counted as trouble.

"Daddy! Daddy!" The bizarrely adorable blobs crowded around his legs.

"I am not your daddy! Dammit!" he spat.

"Hisoka!" Tsuzuki looked horrified. "Not in front of our children! You'll be a terrible example if you don't--Ah! No! Domestic abuse will create a horrible environment! They won't be able to form healthy relationships later in life!"

In the corner, Watari shook his head. "Those kids will need years of therapy."

Voyeurism: His Duty

Title: His Duty
Author: Phaeton
Spoilers: none, really
Rating: G
Pairing: Touda/Tsuzuki
Warnings: voyeurism, a bit of m/m slash

In nights like these Tenkuu's walls are trembling with fury, making its inhabitants loose their balance and stumble around.

The two people who are the cause of this never notice anything. The palace assumes that Touda at least suspects that they are being watched, but Tsuzuki is oblivious, lost in a world of pleasure.

If they knew, they would only move their encounters to another part of Gensoukai, leaving Tenkuu frantic with worry instead of anger.

The palace hates himself for it, but can't stop watching. Someone has to protect Tsuzuki and keep an eye on the traitor after all.

Admin: Absence

There hasn't been a new challenge the past few weeks because your admin has been doing the medical rounds. I'm still hip deep in doctor's appointments. Challenge posts will commence when I'm once again spending more time asleep than in waiting rooms.

Feel free to check back through the archives for older topics, if you're in need of inspiration. This would also be a great time to tag your old posts. *G*

Bliss: Skin Care

Title: Skin Care
Author: Phaeton
Spoilers: none, really
Rating: still G, I think
Warnings: a bit of Touda/Tsuzuki

Touda shivered from the sensation of lips ghosting along his neck. Tsuzuki chuckled softly.

"Still with me, then."

Barely. It felt so good to just relax and enjoy his master's caresses. Touda sighed with pleasure.

"Let me do your front now."

The serpent was a boneless weight in Tsuzuki's arms as his master helped him lie back in the hot tub.

A gentle kiss was pressed to his lips, and then Tsuzuki's hands were stroking over his chest, carefully peeling the dead skin away.

Since his master had started helping Touda like this, moulting wasn't the tedious affair from before.

New Challenge: Attention

This week's challenge is Attention.

Old Challenges

Drabbles on past topics are always welcome. Be sure to include the challenge topic in your subject line, headers, or both. Post unrelated drabbles separately. You can post up to five drabbles together in one post if they are a series.

Thank you to those of you who have been suggesting additional topics. More are always welcome! To suggest a topic, comment here.

In order to make it easier to find past posts, I am implementing a tagging system. When posting a drabble to the community, please include the following tags: "c: the challenge to which you're posting," "a: your pen name." To avoid hitting the 1,000 tag limit, don't tag posts with pairings or characters, just the challenge and your pen name. If you're posting a non-challenge drabble, please include "c: none." Please comment here if you're in need of clarification.

Vision: A Serpent's Eyes

Title: A Serpent's Eyes
Author: Phaeton
Spoilers: none, really
Warnings: hints of Touda/Tsuzuki
Author's Notes: my first YnM drabble. Don't run away!

A serpent's eyes are selective and Touda's sense of sight is even more impaired by the visor, rendering him almost blind in the darkness. A very effective way to artificially cripple his power.

But Touda doesn't need eyes or the absence of the visor to know who enters his room in the middle of the night. He would recognise the vibrations of those hesitant steps everywhere.

It's no surprise to him when the slight form of Tsuzuki seems to appear just out of the dark, like a blurry vision from a dream, pale and ghostly.

Touda silently lifts the blankets.

Non-challenge: Life's Precious Jewels

Title: Life's Precious Jewels
Author: Veleda ([info]veleda_k)
Spoilers: King of Swords arc
Author's Notes: They were so sweet before they became horrifically doomed. Written for [info]femslash100.

Eileen stands at the edge of the room, terrified. The people around her glitter and gleam, and every woman is wearing jewelry worth more than Eileen has seen in her life.

"Eileen! Why are you alone?" Tsubaki-hime runs up to her, her diamond necklace glimmering. She frowns when she sees Eileen's misery. "Aren't you having fun?"

Eileen shakes her head. "I don't belong here," she says softly.

Tsubaki-hime puts her hands on her hips. "Nonsense. You're the prettiest girl here." She smiles. "Dance with me."

As she allows herself to be led, Eileen thinks that Tsubaki-hime's smile is prettier than any gem.

Letting go: Logic

Title: Logic
Author: Veleda
Spoilers: Kamakura arc
A/N: I'm writing stuff! Of course, I should be doing homework, but, uh, so what?

Nagare decides early on that there is no point in visiting the boy in the hospital. It isn't as if he can accomplish anything, after all.

It's best to act as if the child (no, not child, abomination) is already dead. A clean break is better than watching his son (it, there is no merit in thinking of it as his son) waste away in slow agony. Besides, the boy is a monster and too weak to even live long enough to die properly. He isn't worth missing.

Nagare's gut twists, and he wishes that his heart could agree with his logic.

Fanfic: I Can Lead You

Title: I Can Lead You
Author: Rana Eros
Challenge: Fairy Tales
Author's Notes: Here, have a mash-up. Title taken from George's "The Track Through the Woods."

~~~~
At night, the full moon calls to him. Hisoka slips from his ageless bed, dresses in the dark, walks out to where the sakura flowers ceaselessly. There's a sliver of moon waiting there for him, jagged-edged.
"They say the moon drowned once," Muraki murmurs, face upturned beneath it, both white as something long dead. Hisoka says nothing, and Muraki lowers his head with a smile. "Will it be drowning tonight, I wonder?"
He walks off among the trees. Hisoka follows, dropping neither stones nor breadcrumbs, leaving no trail forward or back.
This far into the wood, there's no way out.
Fanfic: Soft the Snow Comes
Title: Soft the Snow Comes
Author: Rana Eros
Challenge: Fairy Tales
Author's Notes: Oh, look, another double drabble inspired by an Andersen fairy tale from yours truly. Try to hide your surprise. Betaed by elizacakeEliza.
~~~~

The oni built a mirror once, made it of spite to reflect all the things they hated in the world, which was everything. Then they squabbled over what to do with it and it slipped from their fingers and broke, shards scattering on the wind.

Those shards struck any number of people, working their way under skin, into eyes and hearts. They magnified the flaws of whatever they reflected. When pointed outward, that meant family and friends, and those people grew cruel and hateful, withdrawing from their loved ones. When pointed inward, that meant people were forced to see their own evil. Most died of what they saw.

Not all the ghosts were left to rest, however, and one man, good and kind, was made to reap the dead until his tears flushed out the splinter obscuring his vision. He was too kind, however, and the splinter was lodged deep, and while he prayed for forgiveness, he thought himself unworthy. Nor could he let the love of his friends console him, when he saw only his flaws.

When he could bear no more, he began to pray instead for numbness. Winter heard him. He didn't resist when its ambassador came.

Non-challenge: Dangerous

Title: Dangerous
Author: Veleda
Author's Notes: Written for [info]drabble_a_trois. Cross-posted from the lj fuda_100

Ukyou knows that the men she loves are dangerous. It's easy to see with Kazutaka. His eyes glint like naked steel, and his smile is as sharp as a scalpel's edge. He tries to hide it around Ukyou, but she loves him far to much to let herself be fooled.

Oriya is more subtle. He is deadly like an arrow in flight, like the delicate taste of poison in fine tea.

The men that Ukyou loves are dangerous, but it's only around them that she feels safe. To Ukyou, that doesn't seem strange at all.

Maybe that makes her a little dangerous too

Gift giving: From One Who Truly Loves You

Title: From One Who Truly Loves You
Author: Veleda
Spoilers: King of Swords Arc
Authors Notes: Cross-posted from the lj fuda_100

Eileen creeps into the doctor's room, silent as death. Her eyes light up when she sees the half empty bottle of wine. The fools haven't learned not to drink the wine, she thinks gleefully. Grinning triumphantly, she pours the strychnine into the bottle.

You'll hurt so badly when he dies; won't you, my love? She thinks fondly. But I'm doing this for you. He'll never betray or lie to you again. We'll both be free of that monster.

She presses her hands to the heart that they share. Think of it as a gift... from one who truly loves you.
