About: | Revised: January 2008 This is the original FtM Community of InsaneJournal. It is a mirror of the community on GreatestJournal, however we are not associated with the people who run the LiveJournal version. FtMs from all ends of the spectrum are welcome to join, BUT (and this is a big but) the main point of this community is geared primarily towards female-to-male transsexuals who want to/plan on or are taking male hormones and who want to/plan on or have had any number of the different gender corrective surgeries in order to transition from a phenotypic female to a phenotypic male (or to those who have questions about the process); see below for more on this. We welcome those who need support in transitioning and those questioning individuals who need their questions answered. We also welcome SOFFAs of FtMs. Moderator: I feel I have to make a distinction here because otherwise there will be drama. I am the mod and the founder of this community, and as a transman, I do not feel that people who do not intend on fully transitioning/becoming male are going to get much out of what I intended for this community (or at least from my presence on the community). I have always wanted to be male and not something "in between" or "gender fucking". I have never had the feeling or the desire to be something that people don't understand (oh the irony)--I just wanted to blend in with the crowd and BE who I feel I am (male), and if that makes me an evil patriarchal binary gendered-bastard, then so be it. My very point of existence, of being female-to-male is to become male, not anything else. In my eight or so years of bouncing around the internet I've come to find that "female-to-male" has become diluted to include a lot that is NOT entirely female-to-male out of the dramatic cries from those severely psychotic political correct people, mostly from the dyke and feminist (and dyke feminist) areas of our on and offline world; if transmen don't "include" EVERYBODY in that clouded spectrum of gender/transgender, then they're self-hating misogynists. Or homophobes. Or just plain assholes. Well, I guess I am one of those assholes. I have enough experience to know that I every aspect of society no matter what your gender is, there will be people who don't like other people. One transman who is a good friend of mine used to be a homophobic bastard, but discovered that he was just a self-hating queen who didn't want to deal with being gay on top of being transsexual. However, there are transmen who do hate gays, who do hate dykes, who do hate something, and you're going to run into them. You might run into some here because of this community's stated main purpose, and that is (again, to emphasize) to be defined as an informative support place/community for those looking to transition from female-to-male and those who support said transition. It is not for dykes looking to get T but do not wish to transition. It is not for dykes looking to get chest surgery but do not wish to transition. It is not for drag kings with drawn-on goatees who get off on playing dress-up. Transsexualism is not a game, a joke, or a fetish: It is a huge, life-altering decision, and this community was created to help those with this life-altering decision. That said, this is what will get you banned quickly: -- Trolling -- Spamming -- Unjustifiable flaming (there is a time and a place for flames, and if you're smart you'll be able to tell when that is) -- Threatening others (or basically anything against the GJ Terms of Service regarding user relations) I have a particularly big beef with trolling. Don't come here with the intent on instigating some sort of dramatic "U R SO NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT, WHY CAN'T U ACCEPT ALL TRANZGENDERZ, U TRANNYPHOB!11" bunch of crap. I've seen what that political correctness does to other "ftm communities" online and I will have none of it here. We are men--transmen--and we will have it no other way. Go make your own community, or join the LJ community that bears the same name as this one (to which this community has absolutely no affiliation with) if you can't comprehend why we would have to make the distinction between FtM transsexual and "FtM boi/grrl" (or, stick around and ask us why so we can tell you to re-read the paragraphs above). As such, I will not be policing language/watching for your political sensibilities. There is something I learned simply by observation: People largely choose to be offended by words (and most often, it's a knee-jerk reaction). So you can either choose to be offended by what people say, or you can treat certain words with as much value as your offense deems...just don't put too high a price on something that is, in the large scheme of things, fleeting. It's unmoderated for now. Don't make it so that it has to be moderated. | ||||||||||
