For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Lucy Mills. I am currently heading up a new project to implement a Welcome Committee/Welcome Center for our new arrivals here. It will be an exciting new addition, and I’m looking forward to making it the best we possibly can.
The idea is, at its core, to create a committee of people who will take on the responsibility of welcoming our new arrivals in person. We are working on building a welcome center that will hold various necessities and supplies, but really this project is about creating a network of people. Think about how overwhelming things were when you arrived here and how much a friendly face could have/did provide some comfort for you.
Committee members will be the first interaction our new arrivals get. They will greet new arrivals in person, escort them to the welcome center, and will have the task of explaining what has happened. They will provide information about this place and our situation, and answer any other questions that might be thrown their way. It will require a lot of people skills, the ability to think quickly, empathy and compassion.
Currently we are hoping to get at least one committee member from each city/country here in Galador. If you are interested in being a part of this project, please comment below with your name and which city you reside in. Please note that all committee members must be at least 18 years old and will need to pass an interview.
