Isabella had invited her brother Matthew and his partner Sookie as well as her step-daughter Sin and her partner Quinn for a pre-Christmas family dinner. Isabella hadn't been much of a cook prior to meeting Sin's mum, but she'd learned from the master and had put on quite the spread for her family. She had snacks set aside on the table and a roast lamb and vegetables in the oven and had drinks set aside as well. A few alcoholic, but mostly non-alcoholic. "Why don't you put on some music, my darling," she suggested to her six year old son as she handed him a remote to the music player, giving him free rein to set the mood for the evening.
The fact that her wife and their adopted daughter wasn't with them broke her heart, that they weren't there to celebrate Nathan's sixth birthday or Christmas together. But Matthew was there and so was Sin and she was grateful for that. When the first chords of music started to play followed by a familiar voice, she couldn't help it but smile. Jeremy Lewis.
