It had been a long week. Not only had the nightmares gotten worse but she couldn't shake this feeling of dread crawling under her skin. And so the young mutant chose to face the past again, knowing it wouldn't be the last. Eve had popped in yesterday, leaving her with the band's new toy for tuning. She'd found it at some yard sale during the weekend with this month's boyfriend, Steve or something. At least he knew a great deal when he saw it, even replaced the tubes and rebased it for them. Passionate fingers swept over the smooth tan panel, taking in the objects very essence. "Betcha seen quite the string o' gigs there Delta. Lucky for you one of mine was on the prowl for 'nother stray. Saved you she did. So whatcha say we 'ave at then? I know it's been ages, just gimmie a second to work out some kinks. Then it'll be like the good ole days."
Flipping the switch, Blaze went about her routine and checked all of the chords to be sure the old girl still had it in 'er. Jades fell shut, a peaceful sigh accompanying each pluck that vibrated against her skin. Sound tickled her ears, voice purring with satisfied grace, "lovely darlin. This one is for all who know the truth." Eyes remained closed as the all too familiar beat seemingly played itself. "Long as I remember the rain been comin' down. Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground. Good men through the ages tryin' to find the sun. And I wonder, still I wonder who'll stop the rain."
Not a beat was skipped as her voice spilled into the hallway from an open door, each lyric soulful and powerful, "I went down Virginia seekin' shelter from the storm. Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow. Five year plans and new deals wrapped in golden chains. And I wonder, still I wonder who'll stop the rain." Sleek fingers worked the cords like a true professional, a flutter of dark hair swaying in a gentle breeze though a mood grew thick in the air. Emotions flowed so freely anyone sensitive to these things would swell with a dark, saddened joy unlike any might ever experience again. Daddy's favorite, a glimmer in those handsome and brilliant deep chocolate eyes that evoked a lightened smile from those even in their weakest moment. "Heard the singers playin', how we cheered for more. The crowd had rushed together tryin' to keep warm. Still the rain kept pourin', fallin' on my ears. And I wonder, still I wonder who'll stop the rain."
