Victoria's Fanged Legacy The entire production was rather shrouded in secrecy. Victoria knew her vampire films, that was for certain - and knew how to market them. She remembered the iconic images which had stayed with her, through those formative years. All in all, a viral advertising campaign could be as cheap as they were effective. One just had to employ them in a wise way.
That was precisely what Victoria had done. She knew the right publications, Internet fazines and journalists to give the odd clue to, every now and then. the one over-riding message of it being that "'Carmilla' is in Development Hell." Nobody knew what quite to make of the message, of course, but then came the little teaser images. A touch of fangs here, an arching neck there, a gothic-looking bedroom somewhere else... All of it accompanied by that same phrase.
'Carmilla' might not have been as famous as 'Dracula', but once it got enough people interested in looking such an unusual name and title up, the buzz started to get around. Someone was making what many considered to be the first female-on-female vampire novel, into something bigger. Something greater. Lesbian vampires were a subject which attracted ridiculous amounts of interest and that, all by itself, was enough to guarantee a fair degree of industry gossip.
And when someone found out Development Hell was an actual film studio in Las Vegas, things really started to get going.
Victoria was right about something else, too. The vision in her mind really did not require much of an actual film crew. Not these days. Even the one she had did not need to be made aware of the real title. She had picked something obscure and unconnected to vampirism. Something which would, of course, change in post-production. Virtually everything had been committed to her personal digital canvas now. Only one more scene would soon remain and it was something the vampiress could only hope would secure her ideal in cinematic history.
That, however, was only a part of it. Star Tomlin was going to be her 'shadow gift' to the world. A blood-witch. A piece of art she could literally preserve in eternity and craft into something, someone, truly powerful. A vampiric statement.
And if Star ultimately decided she would much rather spend forever buying shoes, well, at least the film would be something to look forward to.
Only on question remained: If this ended up good enough to win an Oscar, how the heck were they going to walk down that red carpet in broad daylight?
