Who: Albus Dumbledore and Kingsley Shacklebolt
When: Tuesday, March 27, early in the evening
Where: Dumbledore's office

Note: Dumbledore seeks to recruit Kingsley for the Order of the Phoenix

Albus leaned back in his chair and surveyed the grounds through the window, humming pleasantly to himself. His mood was better than it had been for a while, so many things lately had contributed to darkening his days and nights.

But today was different. It wasn't every day he found a new recruit for the Order and Kingsley had been under intense scrutiny for a while. It was finally time to meet with him face to face and Albus couldn't help but smile, as he imagined what the Auror's reaction would be.

Kingsley wasn't quite sure what the Headmaster of Hogwarts wanted to speak with him about, and perhaps it was merely to reminiscent on Kingsley's schooldays. That however made no sense in his head, since Albus Dumbledore might seem very casual and lighthearted, but there was always a deeper purpose with his actions, however innocious they might seem.

Security of Hogwarts during the Tri-Wizard Tournament could also be a possible topic, but why then so late? Why not when it started? And there were plenty of people assigned to ensure that already.

So as Kingsley made his way on foot from outside the gates towards the castle, he really had no idea what Dumbledore wanted from him... other than sharing a cup of tea.

The castle looked as it always had, and so did the students, and the Gargoyles in front of the stairs up to Dumbledore's office. The only one different was Kingsley, taller and broader than when he'd left Hogwarts, and in his Auror robes. A few students glanced at him, probably wondering who the hell that big black guy was. He calmly stated his business and waited to be admitted.

As Albus was expecting Kingsley he had instructed the gargoyle to let the Auror pass. Doubting the likelihood of another visitor fitting Kingsley's description he had simply described the man, so the gargoyle obeyed his Headmaster's orders and let Kingsley pass through the opening to the stairs.

Albus had ordered tea and cake and true to themselves the elves had provided a tray with various delicious cakes and pies. Surveying the treats, Albus picked out his favourite but waited patiently for his guest to arrive.

Kingsley ascended the stairs up to Dumbledore's office, his brain still working on why he had been summoned here. He smiled when he saw the man.

"Good afternoon, Headmaster." Kingsley moved to the desk, eyes only briefly dropping to the display of food and tea laid out. "It's good to see you again."

Albus stood as the tall Auror entered his office and smiled at him in greeting.

"Kingsley, so good to see you again," he reached out his hand and grasped Kingsley's, his other hand covering them both in a firm handshake, "Please, do sit down and help yourself to tea and cake."

Then he finally let go of Kingsley's hand and sat down behind his impressive desk, his gaze as warm and twinkling as ever.

Around them, some of the former Headmasters looked the young man over, sharing significant glances and nods, fully aware of why Kingsley had been invited on this day.

Albus noticed this, even as he pretended not to, "I'm certain you're wondering why I've invited you here." he said matter-of-factly as he poured himself some tea and helped himself to the piece of cake he had been eyeing.

As he sat down in the chair opposite Dumbledore, Kingsley felt observed, a slight persistant tingle at the nape of his neck. But the office was filled with portraits and he figured they might be curious.

It was very refreshing that Dumbledore went right to the core of the matter.

"Yes, I was a bit surprised at your invitation." Kingsley poured himself a cup of tea, but left the pastries for now. He took a sip of the strong hot brew before saying further.

"So how can I help you?"
