Who: Molly and anyone allowed in the village
When: March 26
Where: The Three Broomsticks
Rating: TBD

Molly looked over the tap room and sighed. She dismissed the two serving girls, allowing them to leave early since there were not many customers in this evening.
She thought about sending another Howler up to that awful person at the school. Maybe she would do that tomorrow morning, bright and early.

There was a great deal of satisfaction in sending hate mail to one of her least favorite people. If the rumors were true, she might get lucky and the Howler would arrive while he was having a hangover.

As was ritual after work, Bill was ready for dinner. Tonight, he chose to visit the Three Broomsticks, a place he hadn't been in months. It was possible that he was trying to avoid it since the drunks usually made fun of him for drinking milk and diet soda.

Given that it was Monday night, however, there shouldn't be much of a crowd. On the plus side, there was also Molly Prewett. Sure, she was older than him, but that didn't stop him from at least trying.

As he walked in, he was pleased to find the place relatively quiet. He sidled up to the bar and grabbed a beer nut from one of the bowls and cracked it open.

Molly had been cleaning tables when she heard someone enter. She walked over to greet the young man. He was a handsome fellow. She thought it a pity her Charlie could not have fallen for someone like young Mr. Strout.

"Well, it has been a long time." She reached up to comb his hair with her fingers. It always looked messy to her. "Do you own a comb, or do you enter looking all windblown so I will fuss over you?" Her voice held a teasing note.

"Never mind that, what would you like, something to eat, or just a wee glass?"

Hello, Mama. If Bill was a gambling sort of man, he would have guessed that Miss Prewett drank her milk. He smiled softly, if not lazily at her as she attempted to straighten his hair.

"Ya know how I like bein' fussed over," he replied shamelessly. "A bowl o'yer house soup and a glass o'water would be heavenly." He didn't eat here often, but he wasn't in a mood to cook when he got home. "How ya been, ma'am?"

"One bowl of soup, do you want a slice of bread to go with it? I baked it this morning." Molly briskly moved behind the bar. She got out a soup bowl and ladled a generous serving into it. A softly murmured charm kept his simple meal from spilling when she walked back to where he was resting.

"I have been fine. A bit disappointed in one of my boys, but what is new about that?" She placed a large glass of water next to the bowl of soup and set a small bowl of lemon wedges in easy reach. She always made a fuss over her customers. It made them feel like family to her.

"Bread would be fantastic."

As she set to it, Bill shrugged off his overcoat. Aurors were always made to wear gear that was just too hot, and when he was down to his shirt, he pushed the sleeves up to his elbows to better relax. The water was even more welcome than the soup. As he listened, he downed three quarters of the glass.

"May I ask why yer dis'pointed?" he asked, lowering the glass again. Not especially one for brilliant manners, Bill tucked into the warm soup, humming his appreciation for it. He was always starving after work and this was going to hit the spot.

"Charlie is always one to go his own way. Refused a good job at the Ministry, ran off to work with dragons. He came back here for the Tournament up at the castle. Would you believe he allowed himself to be seduced by an older man? Then my son quit his job and shacked up with that pervert. He finally had his heart broken. At least he got a bit of sense into his head and went back to his job in Romania." Molly refilled his water glass while rattling off her grievances. She brought over the last of the bread and placed this in easy reach.

She began to polish the bar. Because of her mood, she was using quite a bit of force.

Clearly, it was all troublin' to Molly. Bill couldn't understand the whole marriage himself, so he definitely understood. He nodded, swiping his mouth with a napkin before taking another drink of water.

"Ya jest gotta let people do stupid shit sometimes," he said gruffly, not apologizing for swearin'. He raised a brow at the way she was cleaning. "Yer gonna put a whole in that bar," he almost teased.

Molly frowned at his harsh language. She did not say anything since some folks had said far worse in this pub. She blushed once she realized how much force she was using.

"Probably be best if I used a cleaning charm. I always get so angry when I think about that person. Why did Dumbledore hire such a man? You know that man was accused of being a Death Eater? Surely there must be some truth behind such a rumor." She nodded her head. "I just .... oh, he should not be allowed near young impressionable minds."

She looked at Bill's bowl and water glass. Both were looking empty to her. "Would you care for a bit more to eat?" She moved to refill the water glass.

Bill frowned. Being that he was also an auror of sorts, he knew things he probably shouldn't. Severus Snape's secret life was his to tell, but Molly really deserved to know. He shook his head at the offer of seconds, but did take more water.

"Miss Prewett," he started when the pitcher was set down. "He was...one of them." Was being the key word here.

"I Knew it! Coming and going at hours, people with their faces hidden in that room Gideon lets him rent. I knew he was not to be trusted." Molly began to work herself up into a fit of righteous indignation.

"My boy is better off without that - that filth! Does the board of governors know about his friends? Do they realize how dangerous that person is?"

Molly poured herself a glass of water and downed it quickly. She began to pace.

This would have been great any other time and it had really started out that way. He enjoyed seeing women on their soapboxes, so long as it wasn't about him. Sure, he didn't listen to most of what any of them said, but it was fun to watch their expressions.

This, however, was about something very serious and not about burning bras. Without asking, he moved from his stool and dipped under the board that blocked bar from dining room, slipping behind the bar itself.

"He ain't no more," he assured firmly as she turned his way, only to be blocked by his stature.

"How can you be positive?" Molly had to tip her head back to look Bill in the face. She did like a nice strong man, pity he was young enough to be one of her boys. "He is so..so..." words failed her and she slammed her glass on the bar.

"He has secret meetings upstairs. He hasn't since Charlie got sensible, but he did have very suspicious looking people going up to see him. Some of them entered from the back door."

He wanted to answer that it was because he trusted Professor Dumbledore, but the Ministry's reason for letting Snape go was not a secret that he was willing to reveal.

"Jest trust me," he said evenly, raising a brow at the glass being slammed on the bar. He was no good at comfort so the only touching he did was to her nose, drawing a finger down before tapping the end of it. "I may not like 'im, same as yeh, but he ain't no more Death Eater 'an I am a fairy princess."

Molly tossed her head back and laughed at the very idea of Bill being a fairy princess. She waved her hands at him.

"You are not supposed to be back here. Go sit down and finish your meal. I will not complain to Dumbledore about hiring that person. I will not stop sending Howlers to the bas-" she trailed off, blushing at what she almost said. "I have spent too much time around unsavory types. My language is becoming filthy."

She sighed. "I might need to do a bit of shopping. Maybe I will visit one of the fiber festivals this month. A bit of wool and some new patterns might help my mood."

That was better, but it was also a lot of talking to take in. Too much talking sort of turned him off and made him pay less attention. He moved back to his stool and finished off what was in his bowl before doing what any man would do with bread and left over soup at the bottom: he dipped it right in.

"Ya gonna sew me a new jumper?" he asked, half teasing before he popped the soup soaked bread into his mouth. It was absolutely delicious.

"I might knit something for you." She watched him use the bread to soak up the soup and grinned. "Would you like to take a loaf of bread home with you?" She offered only because she knew he was a busy person and he appreciated good home cooked meals. She really needed to find a nice young lady for him to settle down with. Molly knew in her bones he would be an excellent father.

ooc: she's a hopeless romantic and a match maker, run Bill, run! lol

"Mm," he nodded, just before swallowing. "Yes, if it's not too much." He grinned charmingly back at her, hiding the fact that he didn't really care if it was too much.

"How's the rest o'yer nest?" he asked since it seemed appropriate.

[ooc: Haha!]

"There is an under sized loaf, I will let you have it for a pittance." Molly busied herself with getting out the bread and wrapping it up to send home with him.

"My Bill is doing fine, he's moved back to the island and is still breaking curses for the bank. Percy has a position helping Mr. Crouch at the Ministry. I believe you might see him from time to time. The twins are...a handful from the reports I get. I think they are making up for all the time they have been seperated." She tallied up what he owed and slid the receipt over to him. The charge for the extra loaf was way under what she should charge.

Which meant it was time for Bill to pay his tab. He lifted his hips to pull his billfold from his back pocket. As he unfolded it, he watched Molly, taking in what she said.

"Y'll 'ave t'get 'em all together 'n take a portrait now that the twins are together," he said as he pulled more than enough dosh out to pay the tab and a generous tip.

"It would be nice to have a portrait with all of the boys. I will settle for one of the twins." Molly saw the amount he was going to leave and placed a gentle hand on top of his.

"Are you sure you are not being overly generous to an old woman?" She enjoyed teasing with this young man. It made her feel young.

"There's ne'er anythin' wrong with gen'rosity," Bill pointed out as he stood from his stool. He turned his cheek towards her, leaning down as he tapped his finger against it.

"How 'bout ya send me home with a lipstick mark?"

Molly chuckled at his open flirting. She leaned up and across the bar. She made sure to leave a nice dark lipstick print on his cheek.

"You should have some sweet young thing putting her lips on you, not some old woman." She half joked and half chided him. "I need to lock up for the night, no telling what sort of person is wandering about. You be careful on your way home." Molly moved out from behind the bar and walked over to the door.
