The Second Task!
Who: Hogwarts teachers and students, Harry, Cedric, Hermione, Sirius, Ardyn, and any family members or close friends who would like to attend
Where: The lake, Hogwarts grounds
When: March 10th, mid-morning
Rating: no higher than PG13, please
Mod Note: Anything goes here. I'll post two threads. One for the Champions and their "things," as well as the official announcements, and the other for the spectators. Anyone who's an object to be rescued won't really be able to do much until the champions break the surface again, of course, but...

Ludo was nervous. Harry hadn't shown yet, and there were only a few more minutes until the task was supposed to begin. What if he failed to turn up? Then he'd really be up the creek. Maybe he should run up to the castle and...no, there was the boy now, running down from the castle. Ludo tried to hide his relief, but he couldn't hold back a pleased sigh as the boy skidded to a stop in front of the rest of the champions.

"Harry, my boy!" He clapped the boy on the shoulder, grinning. "Was beginning to think you would stand us up. Well, come along... Let's get you all into place!" He led the boy to the far side of the lake, his voice lower as they moved away from the others. "You ready? Know what you're going to do?"

Cedric had been searching all last night and this morning for Ardyn, and couldn't find him anywhere. He was already overloaded with stress from the task today, but the fact he couldn't find his brother wasn't helping that at all. He'd even gone so far as to owl his father, who too, had no idea where his younger brother was.

So when Cedric arrived at the lake, he was less then pleased and wasn't really paying attention much to what anyone was saying to him. A simple empty smile was plastered to his face. He didn't care about all of this, not even really from the beginning. He cared about his brother, and that's all that mattered to him at this very moment.

Walking out to the dock, Cedric's eyes scanned the deep water before discretely casting the bubble charm on himself. He'd only have about a half an hour until it started to wear off, but he wouldn't be able to cast it underwater. Sighing, his toes curled on the edge of the dock. This was it. He was back where he was at the first task; scared, unsure of what was about to happen. But this time he didn't have his brother cheering him on like the time before. Taking a few deep breaths in order to calm his nerves, he positioned himself at the ready, waiting for the gun to go off.

Harry grit his teeth; Ludo Bagman was starting to get on his nerves with all that overly cheery stuff. But he nodded anyway. 'Yes, I reccon I do,' he said and hurried past the man before he could say more.

He nodded to Cedric and the other champions when he reached them. Diggory looked as grim as Harry felt. Perhaps if it wasn't so damned cold! Harry was shivering where he stood and the thought of going into the deep, freezing lake was anything but appealing.

	Severus nervously paced in his quarters. Lupin was supposed to floo here and was now late. He was not going out by that accursed lake. Lupin needed to be here, take the polyjuice and go observe the task. Severus also wondered where the hell was Charlie. It was not like him to disappear. He wished he knew why his husband was pulling away from him. (Reply to this) (Parent)
