When: Monday morning, the day after this.
Warnings: Angst.
Status: In progress.
Last night, confronted with the truth of her future by Albus Severus, Tonks had fled in a panic. Though there was a part of her mind that instinctively knew he was telling the truth, there was a part of her that also rebelled automatically against that knowledge. She simply couldn't allow herself to believe that she died, that she and Remus died, that Teddy grew up without them, without his Mum or Dad. In a way, having been told by Albus wasn't helping either. He was sweet and nice, but she didn't know him. It was like being told by a stranger, when she would have rather been told by her family and friends... none of whom had said a word. She was sure they had their reasons, and if she was less emotional she might have understood them, but in the heat of the moment it was too much to process.
So Tonks had fled to her room, doing her best to bury her thoughts and focus on all the new arrivals, though it seemed that every person who showed up from Teddy's generation was like a needle in her heart. Even Charlie, her Charlie... even seeing him didn't have the same impact that it would have before. It was hard to be excited when it felt like her world was falling down around her. She'd gone to bed thinking she could cope on her own, but after a night filled with tossing and turning and nightmares involving battles and tombstones and Teddy all alone in an empty room, Tonks woke up exhausted and broken.
She didn't even bother to open her journal, didn't do much more than pull on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, binding her messy brown hair back in a ponytail. She wanted to see someone from her future, someone she knew... and right now there were only two people she could think of; Bill and Harry. It was Bill that stuck out in her mind right now, Bill her almost-brother and good friend, who she hoped or thought would know just what to say to make this... if not better, than at least make more sense. She just needed someone to help her cope with this.
Barefoot, she padded down the hall out of Delta and over to Sigma, where she knew Bill's unit was. Clothes rumbled, hair a wispy dark mess, and eyes watery with tears, Tonks raised her hand and silently knocked on the door to the Unit.
