Alex was fully aware of the legend of Aingriv. There were many legends and myths that he knew of, though this particular one held a special distinction. Not that he truly needed the sword to become immortal. After all, he was a myth himself, though far from what humans considered his kind to be. Alex was a vampire, born over two hundred years ago, and for all intents and purposes, immortal. True, he did require the blood of the living to sustain himself, though he was hardly repelled my holy symbols. Mirrors weren't an issue at all, and garlic? Well, he was Italian, and had it in every meal just about. Oh, yes, he could eat food also. Not that he needed it, or really gained anything from it, though it made it much more easier to pass as human.
Which he had every reason to want to do. For while a hunter in a sense, Alex was also hunted. A childer of Saulot, one of the few remaining Salubri, Alex was outcast among his own people due to fear and superstition of his own abilities, as well as general politics among the vampires. It is a time of war, the coming of the final nights, the end of days. He knew it to be so, having seen the signs. The time of thin blood is already upon them, it is only a matter of time before chaos breaks out.
Though daunting as that may be, there are other dangerous. Alex learned the truth behind the other myths. The Changeling Fae, the werewolves, Incubi, wraiths... countless other creatures that roamed the unsuspecting world much as he did. Though he'd been fortunate in never having crossing paths with any of them so far.
Though it was not those myths that brought him to Bathe. It was the legend of Aingriv, supposedly located somewhere there. If it truly was here, or if the trip was yet another dead end with a cold trail and clues to where it might have been taken to remained to be seen. So it was that focused on at last finding the ancient relic, he was caught completely by surprise by the young woman colliding with him. Laying on the ground, his arms automatically going to her shoulders and holding her up, he was immediately certain that she was not human. She'd been too quick, to stealthy to be. And, it was highly likely that she was also only too aware of his true nature.
"Funny, that's usually my line," Alex replied. "I don't believe that there's any harm done to myself. Are you alright, though?" He was all too aware of her on him, young and certainly attractive. Had he been human still, he would no doubt find the situation even more awkward than it already was, given that he would unconsciously be becoming aroused. Oh, he could still have sex, even being a vampire, though such an act to a great amount of expenditure of his abilities, and was often more trouble that it was worth. Though, there were times when it was useful to be able to do.
