Who: Sirius, Remus, and Ted What: Remus is about to go through his first transformation in a new place. He and Sirius seek Ted out for advice about preparing the house. Where: Sirius Black's house When: 28th of February, a day before the full moon Warnings/Rating: None | likely PG
Every single time that this is about to happen, Remus Lupin finds himself scared and feeling inordinately alone. It's not even that he is alone in spirit anymore, not since his friends turned into Animagi to help him, but having to go through this and not recall the night before... it's a silent, slow torture that takes its toll. His entire body aches and he wishes, just for the two days before and after, that he could sleep away the pains and deeply ingrained fears. He's looking far more ragged today than he has for several cycles, and he thinks how fitting for my first transformation in a new place to be worse than agony.
Remus has never been a particularly religious person, but as he sits with knees hugged to his chest on the sofa in the sitting room of his friend's house — his home, at least for the time being — he can't help but pray to some deity that Sirius will tell him that all of the preparations are ready and that he can go hide away already. He hates being seen like this. And what's worse is that they've been forced to call upon Ted, a relatively compassionate person to his plight, to help them figure out arrangements. Since leaving Hogwarts and settling on his own, Remus had only had to worry about himself and he'd managed to hide himself away during full moons, but now he had to be cautious for Sirius's sake. It made him feel just a little more guilty the more he thought about it.
