Anyone have any good tips for getting a dog to accept his new cat overlord? Bob the Dog is currently hiding under my bed from Gin's new cat. The only problem is, he can only fit his head and shoulders under there. Really, it's undignified for a lad Bob's size to be afraid of a tiny little kitten.

You have to slowly acclimate them. Let them get used to each other without sight at first. Smell is important. Don't forget to reward any good behavior with a treat. Then start showing them to each other but not letting them get too close. Eventually they should get along. Especially if the kitty has a good place to go so they don't feel like they're trapped with a giant dog.

I back up Luna. Keeping them close without unrestrained contact would be good, and treats are a must. Some cats are naturally the boss (most, actually) but if you can get them used to each other, he'll stop hiding soon.

Cats are territorial. Rather, I think, like girls. Just don't let the cat see the dog wear its jumper, then things get really tense.

Meanwhile, Seeker is just like 'BOB THE DOG! I WANT TO PLAY! LET'S GO EXPLORING TOGETHER!' and all he does is run away and leave her sad and friendless.

It's quite the tragedy.

Poor thing. I couldn't possibly get a cat because it would go after my rat, Bert, and he's been with me for years. What about using spells to keep the cat out of your bedroom - at least then Bob would have a safe place to retreat to?
