Author’s Note: A continuation of the drabble Damn Technology. I just couldn’t resist the cuteness (it wouldn’t let me sleep!).

Marlene looked to Chaos and smiled. “Hello!”

The new technology had overloaded Vincent’s nervous system, allowing Chaos to rise to the surface.

Marlene didn’t seem to mind. She found his presence comforting.

Chaos tilted his head, looked to the device in his claw.

“That’s Vincent’s cell phone,” Marlene said. She scooted next to him and looked over his arm. “It has the internet now.” She pointed, “Click there and there.”

Chaos gently pressed the buttons.

“It has games,” Marlene said. “This one is called Tetris. Wanna play?”

Chaos smiled and nodded.

Somewhere in the darkness Vincent grumbled in his sleep.

He connects, searches through endless piles of human knowledge, chases even the vaguest clues with vigour and stubbornness beyond reach to a lesser man, and ignores everything else.

With only one thing in mind.

Days go by, countless, lacking measure in this world until, at last, he smiles. It is all just another fight and he, as always, comes out victorious. He downloads, prepares, disconnects and… waits.

The solution has been found to the problem that needed solving. All he now needs is getting used to gravity and matter.

Then, he opens his eyes, one word on his lips.

Author's Notes: Denzel was supposed to be doing homework...This was inspired by a friend's son, years ago, finding all kinds of pr0n sites when he googled "fox" for his 4th grade science project.

Tifa poked her head in to the study, drawn by the giggles of the two children. Their guardian had expected to see them laughing over some homemade blooper vid or lolcat. Whatever she'd been thinking, it certainly wasn't what she saw.

Images of the Turks, and even some of Rufus Shinra, in various states of undress. And dress that was not standard issue.

"Marlene! Denzel! What are you looking at?"

"Why doesn't Mr. Rude wear anything like that when he visits here?"

Barret's going to kill me. suddenly warred in Tifa's head with Rude looks really hot in that corset.

Vincent stared at the phone – it may as well have been an alien device.

“Are you sure?”

“Yep,” Marlene said. “Tifa’s got it on her cell and Cloud too.”

Vincent experimentally pressed a couple buttons and glared as the phone beeped at him.

“Lemme see,” Marlene said, gently prying the phone from Vincent’s hands. She narrowed her eyes in concentration as she programmed the internet, then handed it back to Vincent.

“Thanks,” he said.

Marlene beamed. “You’re welcome!”

He has embraced the alien, merged with her, giving himself up to her body and soul. He has forsaken flesh to spread his intellect across the globe, preserving it forever in the unsweepable pores of the internet: a mutable virus dropping copies of itself at whim.

 

And he is still learning.

I hate my job.

 

Here I am, only a member of the strongest fighting force Gaia has ever known, being used as an ambulatory TV Guide.

 

“Hey, Shelke, what’s new in entertainment?”

 

“Hey, Shelke, what’s on the Sci Fi channel tonight?”

 

“Hey, Shelke blah blah blah” – it’s always the same. Weiss is the worst: he’s a celebrity gossip whore.

 

It could be worse, I suppose. There was this guy who kept asking me to find him porn, but he’s gone now…

 

I just wish they’d leave me in peace so I could concentrate. World of Warcraft isn’t easy, you know.

Well, I am sure that it comes as no surprise that the Turks really know how to abuse their alcohol.  They won this round with 50 points.  Avalanche just uses a little booze to take the edge off for 10 points.  With the way SOLDIER is engineered, the drink doesn't do much for them.

This week's prompt is #19 - The Internet

Oh come on, we all know that the Internet is for more than just porn (yeah, right!).  Sometimes you need to check your email or download a file (that's my defense!).

Tseng is getting emails from the boss; Reno's surfing something illegal; Zack is checking the latest sports scores; Sephiroth is downloading the latest tune; Vincent is in a chat room for singles; or Hojo is uploading pieces of his mind and memory to the intrawebs. 

I will accept email and memo formatting, chat style and some netspeak (but keep the netspeak to a minimum).

So, whatever you choose to put on the Internet for this prompt, you can only post 100 words.
