The brown-haired girl lay in a broken tumble at the bottom of the stairs, blood spreading from a long, deep gash across her torso. "Tifa," Zack breathed, and knelt by her side.
The girl's lashes fluttered and she turned her head weakly, pale with pain and blood loss. "Hey, easy," Zack murmured, reaching for his Cure. "Don't try to move."
"Cloud," Tifa croaked, smiling shakily, and Zack's heart broke. "You said- you'd come when I was in trouble-"
Zack forced a smile. "Yeah," he answered. "And I kept my promise."
What the hell. He could be Cloud for a while.Title:

The Fractured MindscapeCharacters:
Like everything else in Nibelheim, the house was eerily familiar, as if it had never been burned to the ground. Like the whole town had sprung up whole-cloth from Cloud's own mind. Trying to shake off the dizzying unreality, Cloud almost missed the older woman coming down the stairs. "Can I help you?"
"Uh- I'm looking for Dennis. He used to live here?"
She eyed him warily. "I'm sorry. I've lived here all my life, and I've never heard of any Dennis."
Cloud wanted to accuse her of lying, but the fact was he was no longer certain of that.Title:
With a Mother's LoveCharacters:
It was peaceful and warm and green, and his head was pillowed on someone's thigh. At first Loz thought it was one of his brothers, but their legs were harder, full of lean muscle. This was just... comfortable.
He didn't want to move, but someone- the same someone whose lap he was borrowing, he thought- was running slender fingers through his hair, and he really ought to be awake for that. Loz rolled lazily onto his back and gazed up into smiling green eyes.
"Mother?" he guessed.
Aeris rolled her eyes in exasperation. "Why
does everyone keep calling me that?"
