Cloud stayed silent as he handed over the building supplies he’d brought, watching them being distributed out among those who needed them. This section of the town – Midgar’s Edge, it was being called, or just Edge – was growing quickly, and they always needed some sort of help.

Even just someone who could bring supplies.

“Thank you for helping us!” The woman smiled, and then turned back to her work.

He didn’t tell her that it was just because he had nothing better to do.

Reno looked around at the kids, unwashed and half-starved the lot of them, and saw a part of himself in each one of them. This was his past, and it was only because of chance that he managed to get out of the slums.

That was why he was here now. All of the bonuses and hazard pay he received went to the local shelter to help pay for food and clothes and school for the kids.

If even one kid got off the streets and went on to a better life because of him, his existence would be worthwhile.

Elena looked at the redhead sitting on, or rather slowly slipping from, the barstool with no little disgust. “Don’t you think Reno has had enough Tseng?”

The normally stoic Wutaian merely grinned and shook his head as his already inebriated subordinate took another shot, “No, and I intend to supply him with as many as he wants tonight.”

Elena didn’t bother hiding her shock, “What? Why?”

“Reno accidentally shot down the transport vessel bearing Rude’s replacement sunglasses, after he broke the last pair that Rude had. He gets to tell Rude tomorrow morning,” his grin widened “I consider it charity.”

Apparently the Turks, Avalanche, and SOLDIER are all giving a pass to Temperance this week. No points, no trophy.
