Cloud wondered how scared she would have been if she only had turned around enough, seen him in the shadows. Only thing she knew about Cloud was the uniform he wore.

He knew that Zack would be terrified if Cloud told him that he knew about Zack's girlfriend, that he could tell Shin-Ra where she was. Zack had protected the secret so hard. But he didn't have anything to worry about. Cloud wouldn't tell anybody.

Barrett’s eyes lit up with mischief. “Do you know where the picture is?”

Marlene’s eyes had the same glint. “Uh-huh!” She grabbed her father’s hand and led him to the room. She had seen it once, when cleaning up the house while everyone had gone to fight the Deepground forces in Midgar.

Barrett let out a shout of laughter when he saw it, praising Marlene. Oh, Spikey was his, now…

Rufus raises his eyebrow and glances at Rude, who looks slightly uncomfortable even for his stoic self. Rufus can’t blame him. Not after what Reno did. “How can you stand next to your partner and flat out accuse him? Lie to my face?!”

“HE FUCKING DID IT!” Reno yells, the veins on his forehead as though they’re about to explode.

Rufus shakes his head, decides not to continue with this in fear he might actually hurt the Turk. He walks into his office and slams the door behind himself.

“Told you he won’t believe you,” Rude whispers with a smirk.

“Got some pictures developed.  Wanna see?”  Zack brandished the envelope.  Nesa took it, leafing through the pictures.  Most of them were unexceptional, although...

“Is it okay if I keep this one?” she asked.

“The blurry one?  Why do you want that?”

“Call it insurance,” she said. “Nice shot of the President and his mistress in the background, and I know a buyer.  Good money.”

“Go you halves?”

“You're on.”

"So you'll do as I ask?  Without complaining?"  She looks at him, the glare nailing him to the wall like a butterfly on a pin.

"Yes, just don't tell them."  He looks resigned, dejected.

“Cloud,” Tifa sighs, “One of these days you're going to take a holiday without needing to be threatened with telling Yuffie and Denzel about Don Cornejo.”

Genesis glared at the note so hard smoke curled around the edges of the paper.

 

“What’s the matter?” Angeal asked, eyeing his friend’s trembling hand and the note clutched within it.

 

“It’s that idiot blackmailer again!” Genesis snarled, thrusting the note at Angeal.

 

Angeal uncrumpled the page and read: I know you’re a yaoi fanboi, pay up or the world will know! Frowning, he murmured, “Odd, I wouldn’t think that was any kind of secret…”

 

Genesis bared his teeth as he hissed, “If I ever find out who decided to title their little manga series Loveless, heads are gonna roll.”

Title: A Rufus Shinra Mystery

“Civilian guard duty,” Elena said.

“Something the matter, Sir? Why don’t we step into my office?”

Rufus turned to Tseng. “Finally! A voice of reason!”

In Tseng’s office Rufus stammered, “Someone..took…incriminating..photographs!! And…there…could..be..more!”

“Are they good photographs?”

“Well…yes, quite good in fact. Flattering even..but-

Rufus paused and stared. “Tseng??”

“Yes?”

No, that wasn't possible. Or was it?

Ink chemical analysis – 3000 gil.

Handwriting analysis expert – 4450 gil.

Turks overtime, three individuals – 2250 gil per day.

Catching the individual stupid enough to think blackmailing Rufus ShinRa is possible – priceless.

Tseng enters the large office. “Sir, are you certain about this?”

Rufus nods.

“Would it not be cheaper to simply pay the said amount?”

“Justice… is more important,” Rufus says, hisses. “This is… beyond personal.”

“I understand.” Tseng nods, hides a smile, walks to the door.

“Tseng?” Rufus stops him just before stepping out. Slightly hesitant, mostly irate, he points to his hair. “Does this look fake to you?”

It seems that the Turks have a taste for mischief and a good work suit while members of SOLDIER has a taste for steel and pie (perhaps eaten not with the steel but a spork ^_^).  They tied with 20 points each last week.  Avalache has a taste for saving the world from Turks and SOLDIERs - they have gone underground with 10 points.

The prompt this week is #15 - Blackmail.

Ah, blackmail - the art of making some poor sap pay money by threatening to reveal something nasty about them (or just something unpleasant they don't want anyone to know about).

Would ShinRa pay someone to keep "hush hush" about certain things?  Would Hojo even care?  Maybe Hojo is the blackmailer for his own ambition?  Are there some photographs of Cloud that he just doesn't want the guys to see?  What if Sephiroth isn't quite the SOLDIER that everyone thinks he is! *gasp*  What if it reaches the news media?!  *scream*

Whatever the blackmail, no matter who the target or who is doing the targeting, you must write it in 100 words!
