Swordsman's Instinct / It's Not The Size of the Soldier In the Fight...
Title: Swordsman's Instinct
Characters/Pairings: Sephiroth, Marlene, Cloud
Team: Avalanche
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: For prompt: bad habit. Vaguely Fluffiroth-verse.
He had plenty of warning- the sound of running feet and his own name called out- but when Marlene hit his back, instinct took over and he flipped the girl over his shoulder. Only a fast grab saved her from hitting the ground headfirst. The girl laughed and wriggled out of his grasp, leaving Sephiroth to try to still his drumming his heart.
On the front stoop, Cloud said nothing, but Sephiroth knew the younger man had caught his mistake. Sighing, he followed Marlene inside, muttering as he passed the doorway, "Just one of many habits I need to break."
Title: It's Not The Size of the Soldier In the Fight...
Characters/Pairings: Cloud, Aeris
Team: Avalanche
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: For prompt: alternate universe. Follows Brothers in Soldier, and I have a sneaking suspicion there will be more along this vein. -_-
It was a shock that Colonel Aeris was actually shorter than him. Cloud stood at rigid attention and tried not to look like he was boggling; for her part, the diminutive Colonel paid him no more heed than she paid the taller members of his unit.
"That's all. Dismissed!"
The others broke ranks and left; Cloud lingered, checking the roster for a free practice room. "Still got energy to burn, huh?" the Colonel said behind him.
Cloud managed not to jump. "Ma'am! I- need the practice."
Aeris grinned, and suddenly that slight, green-eyed girl seemed as menacing as a dragon.
