Vincent was born in the time when a lot of things that were considered normal now had simply been unknown – he had never seen a black man in person.

That had intrigued him. To a point where he had found himself breaking another thing that his upbringing forbade – he started growing feelings for him.

He didn’t plan on acting upon them, he was simply too well raised for something like that.

But then one night, as their group decided to get drunk, far too much cheap wine gone forever, Vincent found himself smiling shyly, blushing. “Tell me about your daughter.”

Tifa poured him a glass of the bar’s strongest liquor and slid it in front of him.

The SOLDIER drained it with one long swig.

Tifa refilled the glass and left the bottle. She wiped the countertop, lulled by the hum of the ceiling fan.

The SOLDIER had that look they all got sometimes. The one where you knew not to ask what was bothering them.

When he fell asleep at the bar, Tifa turned off the lights and left the room.

She hoped that he would have a decent night’s sleep.

Rude's jaw clenched, then he gave a curt nod.

The man swabbed down his ear, the disinfectant cold on Rude's too-warm skin. As the needle pierced the shell of his ear, he made no sound. He barely noticed when the silver ring was threaded through the hole. It wasn't until the man bathed the piercing -- Rude's first -- with alcohol that Rude let himself feel the pain and hissed.

Later that night, he touched the ring, murmuring the name of the Turk who'd mentored him from his induction the year before until that morning, and vowed to get revenge.

A/N: An equally insane sequel of Halloween Office Party. And, just to be safe - corsets can be pretty long, VERY tight, a busk is generally made out of steel, and laces aren't really something a drunken man can bite through.

Illness + Turks = big babies (or if you prefer: bad patients)  Yes, folks, when the Turks come down with something you might as well dig them a grave because they are surely dying for 70 points.  Soldier occasionally gets the sniffles for 20 points, but they manage to tough it out.  The members of Avalanche never get sick - their secret is lots of exercise, vitamin C and zinc.

The prompt for this week is #18 - Alcohol

Alcohol:

- you can use it as a medicinal.  It can numb the pain or even as a relaxant for a good nights sleep.
- you can use it as a beverage.  Just a little something to whet your whistle.
- you can burn it.  It makes quite a nice excellerant.
- you can wear it.  Many perfumes are alcohol based.
- you can dissolve chemicals that are insoluble in water with it.
- you can clean with it. Will get paint off a brush.

As you can see, we are taking a broad view of alcohol this week.  The beverage will be the most common choice for most, but don't be afraid to use the other many sides of alcohol (methanol, ethanol, etc) to drabble with this week.

Of course, with the drinking side comes hangovers, regretting acts you don't remember but just found out about, mood changes, and accidents.

Does Reno turn into the cry-bibbling "I love you" man when he drinks a little too much? Is Cid using alcohol as a medicinal?  Would Cloud clean components of his bike with it?  Is Yuffie a tad too young or does she swill it like a sailor? Does Rufus use the vino to forget?

Oh, and I bet Tifa's seen quite a bit of the boozing at the Seventh Heaven!
