Reeve took the handkerchief from his pocket, feeling the now slightly worn material in his fingers. The slightly raised bumps of the little flowers that adorned it were as familiar as his own breathing. He walked away from Johnny’s bar, relieved that Denzel would chose a different path, no, had chosen a different path from him. Reeve had done what he needed to do.

But it pleased him to know, that in her last hours, though he couldn’t be there, his mother had not been alone. With Denzel, another of his mother’s handkerchiefs, and her heart, had found a home.

Barret looked at the picture of Marlene. She had grown so much and they'd been apart so long. Seeing her; her smile, reminded him of what had been lost. Her eyes so like Eleanor's and in that smile Barret could see Dyne's from happier days.

It was not sadness he felt, it was the warmth of memories when all the anger and pain had faded into fond remembrance. Not that the residual anger at Shinra had died, just been caught up in the mundane of every day. So now when he looked at Marlene he didn’t want vengeance. Just love.
